You can check what kit you took by clicking on the kit selection thingy again, it will also list your levels and whether you wish to continue to stop the progression. (Last I checked, at least.)

Turns out it wasn't necessarily the name thing... something about logging off/server reset is disabling the Crusader kit. I've RcR'd 5 times now(byeeeeeee XP) and the kit keeps switching off for no apparent reason other than it not functioning when I log in the next day.
I'm chatting with Valefort and trying to pin it down, but whoever is thinking about trying a paladin kit might want to avoid doing so for the time being.
