Re: Thread of infinite appreciation!!
I'm thankful that after a decade of this server being around I can come here for high quality roleplay, fun characters, events, and otherwise. I am thankful for the players I've met, the journey's we've shared, and the laughs we've had. I am thankful for the level designers for making wonderful places for us to share, and most importantly I am thankful for the DMs who excite out lives and make things interesting.

Big thanks to DM Sparty for dropping in unannounced and giving players a tiny bit of lore/rp that can have good ripple effects!
And, not to forget also Ink and Winter for answering our Forum requests.
The Windspells always appreciate this help in storybuilding, and I hope we can do our part to make the RP live full circle.

I want to thank DM Soulcatcher for taking the wheel on the Bhaal event, and the rest of the DM team who showed up to help out. I had no idea how we were going to run this and I knew it was going to be one massive pile of stress, both emotionally and on the server. And indeed through the crashes, Soulcatcher, Boo, Ink and Midnight absolutely championed on.
I also want to thank the players who showed up and really got involved in it. I was so afraid this would become just a scene, but players actually got involved on both sides of the conflict, some trying to get help to Bhaal some trying to help Cyric, Kelemvor and Midnight. Blasts happened, stabs were suffered! Arms were lost! An all around good time for everyone involved! Except maybe Bhaal.
Thank you. Everyone. Thank you.

I would like to thank Bhaal for being the server's stress ball. He's been our server bad guy for decades and took his final out without complaining. Gave us all the epic ending we needed, it's been years in the making with dozens if not hundreds of players involved in the show along the way.
For real the staff knocked this one out of the park. To include the stress of it being years in the making and the crashathon they suffered along the way.

I wasn't there, I tend to stay very far away from crowded events because they are not really my thing.
I'm just hearing the stories and impression and it seems everyone had a good time, that is an impressive achievement for an event with such high stakes and important names.
Even if I wasn't there I want to congratulate with the DMs with what it sounds to be a great success, well done.

Re: Thread of infinite appreciation!!
I'll admit I stared at a blank page here to write this for at least 30 mins, because there is simply so much to say.
The Times of Troubles has been an undertaking that has been a huge amount of work for staff and players. It meant opening up ourselves to accept the mechanical loss of magic to further and grow rp. It meant accepting the loss of gods that effected each of our characters and classes personally while expanding and changing the pantheon. It has been a huge and ambitious arc, and I couldn't be more proud of our staff and playerbase.
Thank you to the admins and devs who have worked to put forward live updates with DMs to keep the world changing and reflecting the roleplay. We are incredibly fortunate to have you all.
Thank you to the players who have embraced the changes of the setting, and brought so much roleplay to our PW during the ToT. I've really been impressed with how players have taken the prompt and used it to fuel roleplay with one another. Its been a wonderful opportunity to push characters to absolutes and let them grow with the PW. I can't thank you all enough for making it so enjoyable. (Even if I have been trying to set traps and kill you mages and will continue to do so
)
Finally the DMs I've had the pleasure of working with. I can only second everything ghost said before, because its been an incredible amount of work. I'm simply humbled by the amount of work I've seen our team collaborate on. Especially Soulcatcher and Ghost with their work on the ToT. From scheduling events, to deep dives in lore, to fielding requests for all of the characters that wanted to do offscreen rp. These two have been working a full time job here when they're in game representing it as well as working on the forms responding to it. They and all of the team have been helpful to me as I learn an almost entirely new set of lore. Thank you to the DMs that have helped me on some of my larger scale events, Winter, Autumn, and the many others I've worked with.
With my eyes finally settling in and the third denial on my retirement request, I'm looking forward to working with this team and the playerbase here well into the new year. Thank you all for everything you bring to Baldur's Gate, and HDM Ghost for continuously throwing out my retirement applications.

Re: Thread of infinite appreciation!!
DM Team and Server Staff,
I cannot say enough how much it meant be a part of server history yesterday with the death of Bhaal and to live IC through a pivotal moment of Faerunian lore in this game that when I started playing years ago I was not even sure would live more than a year or two further. I had no idea whether Bhaal would die by canon lore or another path or who would kill him etc (haha I was like OMG when an actual PC stabbed him IC!!!!!! a PC maybe is going to become a god on our server). It was so exciting to see what actually would happen!
Yeah, there have been a lot of complaints about the ToT, but to offer a very positive reaction, it has been a joy to interact with the setting and the conflict with the trials it has brought to different characters I play and the many players I luckily have had the luck to RP with on this server over the years. Bluntly, many things IRL are beyond our power and control and we are but shadows and dust for fate to move around, so roleplaying Faerun's version of this has meant a lot of reflection on my own life IRL that has been fascinating and very meaningful. I just wanted to thank you for this year and this week. Appreciate you all so much. The same goes to all the players of this server that have stuck it out over the years and for those no longer with us. I love you all. Long live BGTSCC!

Re: Thread of infinite appreciation!!
I came in here to thank Osric Vale for speech made on most recent court hearing. I felt like in British House of Commons and that's precious. The only thing lacking was a podium or a table to bang that paper he held on. Maybe something to consider for the future.
