A bandaged body is looked over in the infirmary of Candlekeep. It is missing it's legs.

Michael Dunn makes his rounds and plucks up the arrow and the note, tipping off Guide Keenan and Gatewarden Villame.

"I'll go find her, and Cillian, and I'll let the gate guards know to bar her from entry. Some people just don't know how to communicate. But that's about what you'd expect for one of 'those' elves."

Soft spoken words are spread that Shekels underwent sugery with the helpful hand of Damien Pascal and the aid of two hins.

He was left in more bandages than when he came in; but he seems to now have legs.

A reflection of the life and times of Guard Rico and Guard Sonny of Candlekeep.


Mid-morning's sun was breaking over the cliffs of Candlekeep as Ricos lipped twitched and his hand reached to knock Guard Sonny across the chest. "Sonny.. look 'ere"

Sonny turned and peered down the narrow cliff path in front of the Gates of Candlekeep from where they stood. "Oh an elf. They are all kinds of the friendly sort."

The two men stood watching, then waiting for the Woman Elf to approach. Time passed and soon they rested their halberds upon the ground watching. Rico broke the long silence "What she doing down d'ere?"

Sonny sighed "I think She gonna shoot her bow."

"at Me!?" Rico was clearly concerned.
"nay, at the door.." Sonny rolled his eyes
"well that is good, arrows bounce off my chest. Everyone knows that" Bragged Rico, as he puffed out his chest with pride.

Sonny didnt even sigh at the comment as he continued to watch the elf "I think she intend to shoot a note at the door."

Ricco shrugged and rolled his shoulders. "Why not walk dat thing up here? Hand it to us. Put it right 'ere in me hand and say whats about. " Rico seamed annoyed. "Instead going to put paper on an arrow and shoot it some 50 yards into our wooden door? Do you know what happens to paper on arrows. It tears off, yep, flies through the air, the arrow goes forward and the paper flaps around"

Sonny looked to Rico with great concern for the man "She aint going to put arrow through the paper then shoot it, she gonna tie paper to arrow then shoot at the door."

Rico quickly countered "well how you know 'hat what she gonna do? She aint figure walken it to us, may haps she aint figure how to shoot it right"

The statement did puzzle Sonny some, maybe this elf was unique or less special then the others? "All elves know how to shoot scrolled messages.. they learn it when they come from the womb"

"Elves are hatched" Rico was blunt about this.

Sonny turned his mind back to the elven woman. "Maybe I should go down there and talk to her before she shoots the door."

Rico was not being distracted from his thoughts on shooting notes. "If she shot the note.. how we suppose to read it if it sticks into the door and stuffs. Are we suppose to unscroll it or only the intended. How do we know the intended if we cant unscroll it."

Sonny felt it was best to trod down the hill rather then continue this line, or get the door shot on his watch. Though not long before three steps where taken the arrow sails past him right into the doors very thick and treated burn resistant wood.

Rico belted out "She shot the door!"

Sonny turned to look at the shout before returning his gaze to the Elf Woman as she ran off. "Yeah.. dont come back.. I guess." He frowned as the woman was now gone from sight, Ricos voice breaking his concentration.

Rico Loudly shouted "Aye Sonny! Dis letter. it says. Looken for a Cillian. Dat woman dun know he aint an avowed.. like he cant be 'ere for more den ten days.. Like he cant come back for 30 more days.. like if she comes back every day she be wasting her time, as he like cant come back for 30 days. "


Sonny shook his head as he headed to see the note.

Rico continued "Soubar.. isnt that be like far. How she getting some 400 miles to soubar and back, if she gonna be saying coming every day and he can find her in Soubar.. how that work? Magic? that be costly wont it. 30 Days of Teleportation, accounting for rare error be like 30,000 gold coins.. you could buy your own keep at the bottom of the hill with your own door and tack the note there. Why live in soubar then.."

Sonny took up his post again peering down the hill

Rico continued even more "An for that coin, you could hire a dozen men to camp there and wait for the Cillian come by and tell him the message rather then waste all your time walking back and forth every day to shoot our door. You still make out some 29,900 coin in the deal too"

Ricos voice continued to praddle on about the topic.. endlessly as Sonny closed his eyes a moment.

Word spreads that a massive volunteer army took to the field just beyond Candlekeep in order to do battle against a demonic entity called the Shadow Lord and his legions. Guide Alexandra Keenan herself, wielding the millennia-old sentient blade known as Grandmaster Errol, struck the final blow against the powerful fiend.

Upon the death of the Shadow Lord, the embattled celestial called Sapphire was able to be saved and the lands were made safe once again. The Order of the Rising Sun, of which the Guide is now an honorary member, continues their pursuit of the Cult of the Watchers.
