Yes, the Frost Giant king, the boss which is soloable by sneaks, is the standard by which the power on BG should be determined.

I know this is kind of a weird idea, but what about making Favored Souls an ECL class? ( and is that even possible?)

Or limit the class to application. Then Those who more properly RP them could continue with their PC without the hassle of changing their character into something they aren't (Which cuts out complaints of those who say they just ruin everyone's fun in events and while grinding/looting), It would reduce the number of them and how many per deity drastically and perhaps make it more realistic in that sense (Which cuts out the complaints that they are a dime a dozen and over-running our server or whatever), and people will not want to lose their approval of their application so will handle themselves better (See above points for how will reduce the complainers).

kkrazlite wrote:Wait i have a question. . . Why are we nerfing a singular class instead buffing of multiples of them? Everyone seems to think that favored soul is the only happy go lucky solo dolo class out there. . . There are a bundle of classes that can do what favor souls do and solo area's. . . Druids? Epic Bards? Hell even a freaken well build fighter can solo the Ice King. There are many classes that can do the same job a favored soul does, sometimes even better depending on the senerio. Nerfing Favored Souls would just make those who play it alter from one class that has superiority to the next best thing. I'm not really sure what nerfing a singular class would accomplish instead of what i just showcased. And i am not defending Favored Souls they are indeed VERY VERY powerful as they are but in the terms of what seems to be the issue of being powerful enough to steam roll everything. . . Well again alot of other classes can do the same thing they just require more finesse.

Leave the class alone and focus on making the weaker classes up to par as the stronger ones.
I already answered this like 5 times. The sheer amount of work to buff like 30 classes and totally rebalance all the mobs on the server so they still pose a threat would take thousands of hours of work and the end result would be the same. Many more people would have their builds destroyed though. It is far easier to nerf the one absurdly powerful class.

Couple thoughts.

Cap their CL at 20
Or
Remove Divine Power from their spell list
Or
Fix/nerf EDM
Or
Application only
Or
idk.. something else. I like the first two tho. :P

Have you prepared your argument for STR Bards getting nerfed next?

Not finesse, they usually require the use of consumables and therefor gold - and that's the point - a FS doesn't need any, ever !
Neither do druids, bards, wizards or any other spell casting class what is your point?

Page 4 of this topic and I made a thread several years ago regarding bards and FS needing a nerf. So yes.

What about Obsidian sorcerers?

Not even in the same league. I'd rate FS at 10, Bards at 8, and Druids/Dwarven Defenders/Casters etc at like 7 out of ten on the power scale. For reference a well built barbarian is like a 5 to me while special Ed is a 1.

Nerf one class and we have reasonable balance.

My 2 cents any min maxed build especially involving any caster is gonna be top tier. Why? Buffs buffs and more buffs. Then summons then shields and wards.

Let's be realistic here this isn't an isolated case to the FvS.

Replace haste with something else , reduce lvl 9 spells by 1 and call it a day. Move on to something else. EDM a problem? Change the feat itself on how it interacts or move divine might and divine shield to a higher level when it's acquired (cheese builds solved).

how about fixing how buffing spells work and stack?

for example
Bless, Aid, Heroism, Bardic Inspire Courage all grant type "Morale" bonus and shouldn't stack with each other, or any other bonus based on the the type "Morale" - fixing this would drastically reduce the power of Clerics, Favored Souls, Bards, etc.

more info can be found here

edit: and my main character Ril is a cleric/bard so... this would have a BIG impact balancing her.

But then we also have to deal with skill bonuses on items stacking, as competence bonuses should not be stacking either. Bonus stacking is a whole can of worms all to itself, and while it might not be PNP accurate, our setting was balanced with it already in mind. This feels like it is a change that might affect FvS, but only because it would affect everyone, as it is a pretty sweeping and drastic change.

I've been wanting this change since late 2009.
