*An argument broke out between a young street urchin and an older, long established street musician near the entrance to Baldur's Gate. The disagreement arose as the older man harshly criticized the youth's musical skill and ordered him to find a new place to play. The youth stormed off, not wanting to cause trouble. As he yelled out his frustration a clap of thunder sounded out of a clear night sky. One of the Fist approached and confronted the young man, warning him about disturbing the peace. The doubly chastised boy held his tongue and found a new place to perform away from the other man.*

A neatly penned scroll is set up in several places in the Gate.

"Seeking information or the return of a holy relic of Jergal."
"Any who come forth with information that leads to the return of a book of Jergal, or it's return will be well rewarded."

"Inquire at the shrine of Jergal near the graveyard or leave a message at the Shelf."

"Signed : Cara Joriani Scrivener of Doom."

After being approached by two women at her Mystran Magic Shop, one of the local Mystran priestesses had her suspicions aroused by the claims of one of the women to have been a Mystran priestess sent to the city from Amn. Having not had any notice beforehand of her arrival, as is the usual custom for clergy being sent into another diocese, the blue-robed priestess questioned the black and purple clad woman at length before she was left unimpressed with her claims to have been sent by a Mystran Temple and requested that she show her proof of ordination. When that request was evaded she accused the woman of impersonation of a priestess and refused to speak with her further and closed her shop.

//Would love to follow this up and see where it leads. Thanks to those involved, please PM me if you want some collaboration on this encounter. You may find me agreeable to furthering your goals (whatever they really are!) for the sake of intrigue and RP!

And my hands were shaking the whole time I was so nervous what was going to happen. Cudos!

Fight for Life
A charity tournament

Image
Rumours would circulate Baldur's Gate about the charity tournament hosted in the arena north of the city by Head Watchknight Sveta Asperan to raise funds for operations to see the restoration of strength to the impoverished people of Baldur's Gate. There would be talk of many close matches, some swift gritty battles, overs drawn out fights to the bitter end. The shield of the dwarf Revenark seemed unbreakable by his opponents and to most was the clear favourite in his final match against Talisen. The final battle of the tournament however was far closer than most expected, it looked for a brief moment that Revenark was going to falter under the piercing strikes of Talisen. However the dwarven resilience pressed through as Revenark moved on to take the trophy and cash award over Talisen.

The lower division was taken by A Har Thar after defeating the host herself, Sveta Asperan, in the finals. The lower division sway a wide range of skills, a hin with a crossbow by the name Tommy almost took down A Har Thar in the semifinal. Sveta the other finalist found difficulty in keeping her sword within her hands as she was repeatedly disarmed by her opponent Arakes, it was only when she dropped her shield and took upon her sword by both hands that did she manage to land deadly blows opponent which saw her advance through.

It is said with the permission and careful watch of the Flaming Fist a representative of the Darkhold was allowed entry. It seemed that without authority from the Flaming Fist he would have been barred entry, even with their approval the Head Watchknight allowed it very much begrudgingly.

Speculations may suggest the amount raised for charity was over the amount of 100,000.

again a figure that would, by those knowing their way around the upper echelons of Amn, be identified as Lady Narasida Zakine-Albrongardo could be seen entering the Baldurs Gate Docks. Despite this time bringing a bodyguard/load bearer with her she would, like the last times still be dressed in simple-womans clothes forgoing any signs of wealth, station or being worth a mugging in general.

again she would seek out those that have lost the most in the hard past months, giving out food to the hungry and offering grief counsel for those that seemed to still suffer the most from loss of relatives or poverty.

her and her bodyguards efforts going so far as to her even checking in on some of the people she counselled before, offering those and others private grief counseling far away from the hectics and distraction of modern life.

Righteous of the Coast
Image

Image

A new undead menace to all the goodly folk has revealed itself within the Vaults in the Field of the Dead, a skeletal champion warded in golden metal. Instead of outright killing its foes and reanimating them, it uses dark magic to turn them into its unwitting agents that might spy on the land and other righteous organisations. Its exact motives are unknown, but we worry that they will affect the Sword Coast at large.

We had hoped to write this letter with a mind to call the righteous together into a host, composed of many orders and faiths, but one intent - to come together to crusade in fervour, and render holy judgement on this one of the myriad threats that plague the lands.

To remind us all that we are not alone in our service. And to come together not as a series of isolated candles. But as a great, purifying flame.

Whatever lays within the depths, whether lich born of man or draconic, or the golden revenant itself, must be met head on. The evil within the vault must be subjected to righteous judgement. It must be put down for the good of the innocents under threat. It must be illuminated by the unfettered dawn.

It is our hope that you will join together with us under the banners of your Orders and Faiths, so that we may march together to end this menace.

And we pray such holy resolve will spill over into further joint efforts of this nature.

Commander Eldarian Al'Maire
Morninglord Neschera
Brother Ameris Santraeger

////Hi! We are hoping to run an RP event whereby we get a bunch of holy types together to do some faith RP and, as well, put some hapless undead to the sword!

While we are going to run the RP by the DM team it is likely to be a player driven event only, but the aim is for the various goodly characters on the coast to get together and do something fun.

Once we have an idea of the PCs interested we will set a date. We are thinking a weekend will likely be best, in GMT evening.

Please respond if you can to the forum accounts Miasmata, Considerate_ and Kleomenes

Crowds of people begin to gather as the day finally arrives. Word has spread, and many of the citizens of the city don't quite believe what's been said. The goddess of coins is about to make it rain?

Meanwhile, the Sword Coast Commercial Exchange and those adherent to the goddess Waukeen prepare gold inside carefully prepared, shatter-spheres of glass. The Flaming Fist are in force, not only to protect the gold, but also to man the catapults that seem ready to launch that gold into the skies.

Word even has it that a parade may follow? If anyone will be paying attention to anything besides a bunch of free money on the ground.

Hosts:
Koba (primary organizer, will be heading the parade);
Llywelyn Cadwaldr and Cheryl Mae Castillo (will be there to look gangsta);
The Church of Waukeen (there to send prayers to Waukeen, then launch the 'pults)

The Sword Coast Commercial Exchange,
The Church of Waukeen,
The Flaming Fist (security)

Time:
20:00 (By The Forum Clock)

A drummer who has spoken publicly to the poor, the desirous, the families of the sea that have made a statement against the powers of this city which send their Fist upon them to keep them in poverty, in their place...

...the drummer walks the streets of the Harbor and in the Eastern District, his voice performing with greater skill than ever before:

  • Beware...
You, the salt of the sea
    The salt of the earth
To the chains that rain from the sky.

    Beware...
You, true souls of life's hardship
    The true souls of pity
To the chains that WILL rain from the sky.

    ....

    You, beware.
    They, hark.
    You, eyes open.
    They, smiling lies.
    You, RISE....

It is a powerful speech that has been given over weeks...and damn the Lords who do nothing to heed the will of the people...and damn those that support those Fists and the Word that sends them.

In the deadly quiet of midnights' lull.

A soft flicker of candlelight glints off night blue surface of sapphire as it sits perched atop a gold filled offering tray: Tithes made to the Lord of Shadows under the watchful gaze of an obsidian Mask.

But The Mask does not watch alone.

A stranger arrives, and sapphire is promptly plucked from perch by greed inspired hand.
The hiss of hidden blade to follow at the strangers back as they move from the Shrines sight.

Not a minute would pass before said gem is returned under the Mask, no doubt by light fingered hands who recognized their err.

A note is passed and whispers exchanged.
Apology newly offered, wandering hands seek to add to tithe, a gold ring and second gemstone now grace the offering tray.
The hidden figure materializes to gaze upon such and nod once.

A held breath by the interloper released as those who dwell within His shadowy embrace accept the offer of appeasement.

"What we take is rightfully ours. What is offered to Him becomes rightfully His. Remember, We are always watching."

A tall, dark-haired man with the trappings of a northman can be seen leaving notes around various taverns and at the docks of Baldur's Gate. The notes are roughly written, but read as follows:

"Swordsman looking for work, don't mind getting my hands dirty. Will only seek payment if successful. Contact RENMIR through Maltz."

Can any guilds/persons interested please send a pm and rp it as a message to Maltz.

Spheres Festival

Word travels fast that the Spheres festival was a great success. Many citizens gathered to watch as glass spheres with seemingly countless gold coins and gems were flung up into the air by the Flaming Fist detachment.
Hidden: show
Image
By the favour of Waukeen the riches rained from heaven into the streets of the East Harbor District, a place hardest hit by the recent plague. A parade of citizens walked down the streets to clear the glass shards and assist the less fortunate and affluent in gathering Liberty’s Maiden’s gifts.

A few naysayers that could be heard speaking about people hurt by the charitable projectiles or getting cut by the glass shards are quickly outshouted by the mysteriously quickly appearing supporters of the event.

Rumors have circulated around Baldur's Gate of a certain home in the Palace District of Baldur's Gate, known for its impressive security, which was recently broken into. The owner of the house, some whisper, was found torn apart, as though by wild animals, in a scorched, brimstone-scented chamber...
