Those that frequent the merchant camp just south of the city, and those that frequent the more common ale-houses within Baldur's Gate share the same tale.. a fair-haired human female bard has been heard warning newly arrived warriors and others searching for work to steer clear of the 'Red Field Guard' mercenary company. She relates first-hand knowledge of some of their member guarding what was determined to be smuggled goods into Baldur's Gate. Such unscrupulous work isn't worth the gold paid, they are scoundrels, bordering on outlaws she protests...

Beware ye all, with sword to wield,
Work not for the scamps o' the greedy Red Field!
They've warriors, they've mages, they've scoundrels a-plenty,
But ask them for morals, and they havent got any!
Listen well, take heed, lest ye fall hard,
For the lure of gold, greed, and sloth of the Red Field Guard!

Those that ask around will find that the aforementioned bard goes by the name of Elliana.

Near the docks, a former petty thief was rumoured to have started up his own 'protection racket' with some of the dockhands and other dregs short on work.

Three days later, the man is found swinging from the rafters of a seedy hostel, an apparent suicide. Bad love poetry directed at a hirsute lady of the night is strewn about, fuelling wild speculation.

The Fist are seen rather reluctantly asking around for a, quote, "Bearded lady with calves the size of my waist."

Rumor up and down the Coast is that Sir Jonas Rokranon has been inquiring about architects to plan out his noble House. Many of the city's finest are being consulted, as well as Candlekeep and the other towns in the region. The word is that he will pay well for the right design.

Duke Entar Silvershield calls for a rare meeting with some of the city's clergy - specifically, the chief priest of Helm within Baldur's Gate.

The two speak at length while they walk the outskirts of town, followed by their respective entourages. At the end of the hour, Duke Silvershield and the priest were seen shaking hands before parting.

Rumour runs rampant, naturally, though the Helmites are silent on the subject.

William The Dodger, a well known patron of the Blade and Stars, was seen walking out with his belongings, limping from his wooden leg. When asked, He simply says the winds blow fairer in Luskan, and that is where He is headed.

Two noblemen were asking where He went, and how to reach him, as they had collected the sum He asked them. For whatever reason or purpose they would not say.

At the same time, there was some small confusion in the slums, as an old run down house was quickly emptied and stripped of anything you could use or burn, afterwhich a new family moved in.

The neighbours say there used to live Rodger at the place, when the Fist were not looking for him, along with a group of children. If anyone asks they were all good folk, but behind the backs, the words more commonly used are "thief" and "thugs".

In relation or not, the Shrine of Ilmater gained some new additions, threatening to topple the small house down with all the chaos produced. A drive to encourage adoptions or find a new and better house for them all looks imminent or already underway.

Sir Jonas did not show up at the Ilmater Sanctuary to help out today as he normally does. He was not in court. He was not in the temple of Torm, nor, indeed, anywhere to be found in the city; nor Candlekeep, Beregost, Doron Amar, or Nashkel. There are rumors upon rumors about where he could have gone, and some altercation at the White Mask leading to the Fist Headquarters, but nothing concrete.

He was last seen in the farmlands just outside the city, looking at a plot of land very close to the Fields of the Dead. Saint Merielle spoke to him here, and after she hugged him and walked away, he disappeared into the night.

(( This just sounds worse than it is given circumstances you may or may not be aware of. No, I haven't left the server. ))

a lean to made out of twigs is found outside of the Chapel of Torm, the box is as big as a person and is about 10 yards long, a note hangs on it with writing

- To Sir Rokranon I bring him a house worthy of a leader!

To the utter delight of children, bards, and all the other adults who refuse to grow up, a series of magical ships have been sighted floating around the outskirts of the city.

Sparkling with magelights and sailing about with stately grace, no-one quite seems sure where the little ships came from, but they stay for all to enjoy.

It would seem that Sir Rokranon has found a house, as Jonas is rumored to have bargained for a fair amount of time for the purchase of a home on the outskirts of the city farmlands just north of the Black Dragon Gate.

After making the purchase, he sends a very short note to a very specific person, stating only:

"Property purchased. - Sir Rokranon"

Another 'big man' on the docks seems to have suffered an unfortunate setback.

A fisherman was out walking just at sunup when he saw a shipment coming in - definitely the wrong time for anything above-board. When Lyton "Big Man" Biggs alighted with a crate in his arms, though, a mislaid coil of rope seems to have caught his ankle.

If it weren't for the fact that it were attached to a nearby crane, and that crane were being used to hoist a caravel, he might have been just fine.

As matters stand, the Flaming Fist and harbour authorities are still trying to piece together how Lyton Biggs managed to break his leg in three places, drop the crate he was carrying hard enough to make a hole in the docks, hit the winch controls with his face, then sail gracefully through the air at the end of the rope, flopping like a ragdoll and bleating like a sheep.

And if he'd landed somewhere other than atop the ironwork gates of the Iron Throne, he might have even lived...

Rumors begin to pass about a blonde-haired Northerner sighted entering the city who, according to various exaggerated sources, stood between 8 and 10 feet tall and half as wide at the shoulder. He was not outwardly hostile, but crowds understandably parted before him on his way to the Elfsong Tavern.

There are rumors about a girl who asked about the rumors about a guy who was telling rumors about a dwarf that liked to spread rumors about gnomish nobles. The only problem is that there is also a rumor about gnomish nobles spreading rumors about dwarves who talk about a guy that keeps asking about a girl.
