*Lady Angelina returns to the Keep after her regular patrol of the city, sewers and fields of the dead....upon entering the keep she finds the Missive left at the front desk. Her eyes go wide reading it, and she heads into the keep to find one of her commanding officers if they are back from their patrols yet.*

The Fate of Triel: Report

The Duke's of Baldur's Gate send various missives summoning members of factions most loyal to them.

A large plume of smoke is seen SE of Thundars Ride, South of Triel, and for miles around (1 plume, seen from several miles around).

*After the group returns to Triel with everyone accounted for Lady Elvina looks to the Flaming Fist Commander for an answer as to what She wants to do wtih the city now that the over 100 Orcs are heading that way*

This is your decision commander... we notified the Dukes to send reinforcements immediately and told them the dire consequences. They shouldn't take any longer than we took to travel here with the large group we have brought to defend this town, so I hope they arrive soon. Until then this is your command .. what would you like to do first and foremost with the residents of the town?

*she listens intently*

“My Lady, Alsarias and I have completed an in depth assessment of Triel and how to best defend it against the black orcs.” William King hands her the paper with the assessment.

Because of the vast numbers of black orcs we will be fighting, the most effective method will most likely be to find a choke point that will negate the advantage of their large numbers. There is only one choke point in the entire village that cannot be flanked: the staircase going up to the hill top where the Fist officer resides.

With a size far smaller than the enemy, it is likely that we would still be able to hold them off for hours from this position.

The hilltop prevents one distinct disadvantage: Once we guard that position we are completely committed to it. There is no foreseeable fall back points as the hilltop is surrounded by palisades and the black orcs would have the hill top surrounded.
There is a solution to this problem.

Alsarias and I believe that if a small team of dwarves can be mustered immediately to begin digging a hole from the hill top to outside of the village, we will be able to save the entire village and most of our forces as well. I will explain this in a sequence of events:

1. Dwarves dig tunnel from hill top to outside of Triel, creating an escape route.

2. Citizens are all moved to the hilltop, while all friendly forces prepare to hold the choke point leading into the hilltop.

3. The Black Orcs rush the village, and finding it empty make their way up the hill. Fighting will begin as they reach the choke point.

4. As fighting starts, the citizens will begin escaping through the tunnel.

5. Melee soldiers hold the choke point, while wizards and rangers fire arrows from behind the fighters.

5. Once the citizens are all through, friendly forces will slowly fall back into the tunnel.

6 The last of friendly forces escape through the tunnel, followed closely behind by black orcs.

7. Once the last friendly soldier enters the other side of the tunnel, dwarves collapse the tunnel with pre-set explosives, killing many of the black orcs.

This plan allows the villagers to escape safely, maximizes the loss of enemy forces, and minimizes the potential deaths of friendly forces. It is a tactical retreat that will most likely cause more damage to the enemy than a “last stand” would. It will allow us to regroup with a larger group of friendly forces and organize ourselves into a more formidable fighting force. In order for this to work, dwarves must begin digging at once. We believe that dwarves will be highly motivated to dig this tunnel as quickly as possible considering their hatred of orcs.

*Uriel arrives in Triel with a rallied force of Knights and Squires, securing choke points and seeking out high ground. As he arrives he sends word to Lady Elvina, Sir Seth or any Fist officers present.*

* Lady Elvina teleports Seth, Uriel and others back to the FAI to gather supplies and restock their amunition. While there she runs into Lady Svala and Miss Amarven and informs them of the latest happenings. She also gives orders for Lady Svala to take the information we have gathered on the bulletin board and notify the Elder Circle by any means nessesary. Seth to ask Lady Angelina to gather Knights for the Mobile triage unit and head to Triel as soon as possible. And Uriel to review the plan of action purposed by Squire William and Alsarias and be ready to discuss it at the meeting tonight of our Northern Allies. Seth also announced he will be gathering bandages and healing supplies as well as blankets and other things for the residents of Triel to be delivered as soon as possible. *

*Seth Siger sits down to write a note to Lady Elvina and Sir Uriel*

Commander Elvina and Sir Uriel,

After our meeting tonight I plan to make the first of several trips to Triel. Bringing bandages ointmnts and other healing supplies that will be needed for the Triage unit. This is to inform you I will be leaving immediately after the meeting. I will return to the keep as soon as possible.

(( there was a missunderstanding on my part so anywhere I have written 100 orcs.. it should say Several Hundred Orcs.

Revenark spoke out against the idea of moving the towns populations often across wild country to the Gate with the wagons of food needed for such, and the effect the old and young will suffer in such an difficult march of almost 200 miles as the Wyvern fly.

Though the idea seems one of the only path he fears. Though studying the maps it seems that the city of Elturel is only about 75 miles away. Still many days of marching for villager, but there is a road to follow at least. While it is south, it is also west rather then east. If scouts can be send to search out the most likely path the Orc must take, a choke point (a favored tactic of the normally out numbered Dwarves) can be picked to funnel their army, and reducing their effective numbers. If the Orc can be delayed and the Orc scouts now distracted with our force it will give the people time to reach Elturel.

He brings this up to the Flaming Fist commander, after asking around for any other ideas and suggestions. Revenark Stonehold being open to all and any ideas he can get.

*Uriel sends runners out to all available Knights and Squires, as well as the leaders of Kraak Helzak, En Dharasha, the Radiant Heart, the Druids Circle and Doron Amar.*

We will be holding an emergency meeting this evening at the Keep to discuss our course of action against the encroaching Black Orcs marching towards Triel. We formally invite the leadership of each of our allies to attend. If the leadership is unable to attend they may appoint a representative to speak upon their behalf.

Uriel washes up against the bank, broken, bloody, beaten. With labored breathing and heavy groaning, Uriel pulls himself from the shallows of the bloodied pool upon the ground. Losing much blood he tries to use his shield arm to wrap his bleeding leg but it will not respond, laying lifeless at his side. He shakes his head, trying to collect himself through the blood-loss induced fog. He grits his teeth and tears apart some cloth floating beside his still wet feet and wraps what he can tightly, hoping to stem the flow of life from his broken torso. Upon hearing voices he tries to roll instinctively for cover, though his broken form will not react.

"Oh my" comes the soft spoken words of young miss coming to the river to gather water. She wastes little more breath as she runs to Uriel's side to aid him.

A day later a horse and cart stops before the Order of the Silver Rose Keep. Uriel slowly descends from back to land hard on the ground, falling to a knee. The gate guards break their normal stoic composure seeing the General appear and fall, rushing to his aid. Uriel awkwardly and painfully forces himself to stand upon their approach, broken arm tied to his side, his right eye still swollen shut. With his good arm he waves the guards to stop.

"Save your energy and gather the knights!" Uriel orders. He turns now stable on two feet and kisses the young women on the forehead for her aid to get him back to his family. She smiles with a simple nod and sends the cart propelling back to her home. Uriel slowly limps his way to the Keep as the Guards go before him, spreading word of Uriel's return.

Half an hour later, Uriel stands before his assembled brothers and sisters. His armor now covered in dried blood and gore, damaged and bent. He slowly inclines his head, looking over those able to gather, broken and beaten through his one good eye.

"The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. I understand that our supplies are low, that our priestess are exhausted trying to mend our many wounded, that our wounds are many and our family are missing. Aye this is all true but have faith. Slowly will we rise, for we are beaten but we are not broken brothers and sisters. We will find those who are lost to us currently. This is not a safe place, this is not a safe time. Even more so now we must continue to cling to faith and our beloved Code. It is not simply monsters we face, it is evil incarnate. It is against this evil which we will triumph over. Take time and pray, heal and examine yourselves. Stand firm in your faith. Our enemies think they have won, think us defeated us but they have failed for here we stand united. For as long as I still breath I will stand against them until they are completely vanquished. Soon they will come to understand their error in not finishing what they start. Justice will prevail.

There is a commotion outside of the Keep and the Inner Guard rushes into the lounge, "sir John, Lord Uriel has returned!" John's heart races as he sprints for the front door. Just outside is a rag-tag remenance of the order torn, cleaved and bloody. He comes upon the group just in time to hear Uriel say,"...Justice will prevail." With a sense of renewed hope, John walks over to his General, clasps him on the shoulder, and grins broadly. "Welcome home my Lord."
