I need to come up with a reason better than "just because we want a party".

It should be either some kind of charity or celebration or something. Anyone with a handy holy days list for various gods? Particularly Lliira, Milil and Oghma?

EDIT: Or other gods related to art. Can't be Eilistraee for various, some obvious, reasons.

Autumn equinox on 21st of Eleint/September.

Then a couple of weeks later, there's Highharvestide.

Those are certainly possibilities.

No. Highharvestide is a day between the 30th of Eleint (which translates to September) and the 1st of Marpenoth (which translates to October). As Halloween is on the 31st of October, that would be a month later (though Forgotten Realms doesn't have Halloween - they have real zombies and stuff after all).

What we need are good old fashioned gladiator contests. No magic, just steel and flesh. We could even throw condemned criminals into the arena with clubs and make them fight orcs and such. Taran Seven would attend those types of events.

Considering season it could be a harvest festival in the name of that fertility freak with the scythe I suppose.

Or why not a debutants bal in honor of Siamorphe?
Some noble or other are bound to sponsor one, right?
I have no trouble seeing some kind of contest among man at arms at such an occasion.
Might be tricky to get in on the dance floor though, hmm.
