*After rumors spread of shrines to Auril in unsettled areas being burned in bonfire in the foothills south of Nashkel, Head Watchknight Wai Li issues a public proclamation directed at all membership of the Icedawn Temple to Auril in the Cloud Peaks.*

To the magical extortionists of Auril that have plotted to attack Nashkel with unseasonable cold, the Council of Six of Glorious Amn offers the following conditions in response to the Cloud Peaks Icedawn Temple's cold weather fanatics, the only exception of which would be unconditional surrender and exile on pain of death from Amn for all of your membership involved in these hostile acts against Nashkel and Amn. You have until the 10th day of the sixth month of this year to respond to these terms. There is no negotiation beyond what is offered here. If responding, write to the Temple of Helm in Nashkel or Mayor Ghastkill of Nashkel agreeing to one of the conditions offered.

For any of Auril and the Icedawn that are not cowards and actually believe in the power of your goddess beyond mere tantrums, we also dare you to come down from your scared of the heat mountain walls and even attempt to approach the town of Nashkel with offensive intent and survive. Vigil will meet you. HELM PROTECT NASHKEL! FOR THE GLORY OF AMN!

To the Temple of Auril in negotiations of payment as tribute.

It has come to our attention that Nashkel has lost its crop for the upcoming year after several of the citizens have paid tribute to your goddess for decades. The council of six have graciously made efforts that will forgive this lapse of judgement by your clergy at a cost to the nation of Amn. As such the temple of Auril will be given the unique opportunity to reimburse the nation of Amn for it's kindness and generosity.

We offer in exchange for the forgiveness of Amn payment of death for those involved in attacking Nashkel. Their death will be made public, and their execution will come at the hands of your faithful. In completion of this simple exchange, the council of six has agreed to forget the temple of Auril and there will be no need to involve any temples of Amn or military resources.

As an alternative to this, the council has supplied a plan of action should you find it more favorable. You asked the nation of Amn to spend eight thousand gold a month towards your temple. If the expense is the same, and one brings an end to said expense you will find it is more financially responsible to proceed with the following:

The glorious nation of Amn will spend the eight thousand gold a month directed specifically to the destruction of the Temple of Auril. This will include the funding of soldiers, armies, equipment, and mercenaries to bring the temple and all of it inhabitants into absolute destruction. Each and every one of the clergy will be executed and made an example of. You see the funds themselves can be placed elsewhere, and we would serve to save a great deal on the shrine of Auril by promising the temple of Kossuth to build a shrine over the ashes of a former temple of the frost maiden. There would be no payment needed, only the opportunity.

You will find both of these options are entirely reasonable.
Long Live the Glory of Amn.

The echoes of hoofbeats resonated heavily as they traversed the undulating hills of the Greenfields. A group of mounted men engaged in meticulously executed drills, honing their skills in preparation for their imminent journey. Commands rang out from the leaders, directing the heavily armored soldiers to align themselves, their steeds adorned with chain barding and sturdy leather saddles.

Seated atop his trusted warhorse Aegis, Declan observed the formation taking shape just off to the side. His unwavering focus rested upon the men as his commanding voice reverberated across the line.

"The frigid grip of winter tightens its hold on this land, instilling despair in the hearts of those ensnared by its relentless grasp. We confront a formidable adversary, my comrades, one that embodies fury and commands its malevolence."

Declan strode purposefully along the line astride Aegis, making direct eye contact with each soldier as he spoke.

"Atop the mountain, they reside within their icy sanctuary, weaving maleficent spells that imperil the very existence of our cherished homes. Many have already succumbed to the chilling embrace that permeates every dwelling, from grand houses to humble cottages and barns. The region's provisions dwindle to a disheartening scarcity."

His voice surged with unwavering conviction as he continued.

"We are the force that shall bring an end to this calamity, for we possess noble hearts and steadfast resolve. We possess the courage to defy the divine wrath that seeks to engulf us. Not all among us shall return to the embrace of loved ones, nor shall we remain unscathed by the trials that await us. Yet, in this very moment..."

Declan's voice dipped, carrying a somber note.

"...we must not waver in our duty. We bear the responsibility to shield those who cannot shield themselves. We must stand resolute against this malevolence, forming an impenetrable bulwark, safeguarding the innocent. We shall be the light that pierces through the encroaching darkness, threatening to consume us all."

With an emphatic crescendo, Declan spurred Aegis forward, wheeling around to face the assembled men.

"Duty binds us, mercy guides us, and justice prevails... FOREVER VIGILANT!"

The line of men erupted in thunderous cheers, shouts of affirmation, and the resounding clash of drawn blades held aloft. In that exhilarating moment, Declan heard the unified chorus of his soldiers, resolutely echoing his final words.

Groups of Radiant Heart members have been leaving the town gates of Nashkel, returning with signs of having engaged in combat. The patrols move through the mountains surrounding the town, in an effort to cull the Yeti, Elementals, Ice Imps, Ice Trolls, and other creatures that the followers of Auril might try to employ to their side.

As the day waned and the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the make shift camp positioned in the Greenfields, Declan found himself deep in preparation for the impending assault on the Temple of Auril. With each passing moment, his focus grew sharper, his determination unyielding.

Inside his field tent, Declan meticulously inspected his weapons and armor. His trusted sword, Silverbite, gleamed in the soft candlelight as he ran a cloth along its blade, ensuring its keen edge remained sharp. The armor, a finely crafted suit of steel plates, received his unwavering attention. Each buckle was checked, each strap secured, until Declan was satisfied that he was clad in the full protective embrace of his knightly garb.

Stepping outside, the knight made his way towards the roped off pen, where the horses stood patiently, their warm breath mingling with the crisp evening air. He took care to groom each steed, removing any traces of dirt and sweat, and checking their hooves for any signs of strain. It was a task he performed with reverence, recognizing the importance of these loyal companions who would carry him into battle.

As he worked, a soldier by the name of Thomas approached, his face etched with a mix of anticipation and apprehension. Thomas had been assigned to accompany Declan on this perilous mission, and the weight of the upcoming battle hung heavy in the air.

"Sir Declan," Thomas began, his voice slightly trembling. "Do you think we stand a chance against the forces of Auril? They say the temple is heavily guarded, and the priestesses wield powerful magic."

Declan paused for a moment, his gaze shifting from the horse to Thomas. He placed a reassuring hand on the soldier's shoulder, his voice steady yet filled with resolve. "Thomas, we face a formidable foe, there is no denying it. But we are not alone. We have trained for this moment, and we fight with the righteous cause of protecting those who cannot protect themselves."

Thomas nodded, finding solace in Declan's words. "Yes, you're right, Sir Declan. We must stand together and face this challenge head-on. Our purpose is just, and our hearts are filled with valor."

Declan smiled, his eyes filled with admiration for the soldier's newfound determination. "Indeed, Thomas. We must remember that courage and unity will carry us through the darkest of times. Trust in your training, trust in your comrades, and trust in yourself."

With renewed confidence, Declan continued his preparations, his mind focused solely on the task at hand. The hours slipped away, but his resolve burned bright. The assault on the Temple of Auril awaited, and Declan was ready to lead his men into the fray, their spirits bound together by an unbreakable sense of duty and justice.

The early morning sun bathed the campsite in a warm glow as Declan, surrounded by his loyal men, prepared to pack up and embark on the journey to Nashkel. The time for rest was over, and duty beckoned them forward.

With a sense of purpose, Declan went about his task, carefully packing his gear onto his trusted steed, Aegis. Each piece found its place, from his shield and sword to the rations and water flask. As he secured his belongings, he couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation coursing through his veins. The mission that lay ahead was crucial, and his heart was steadfast in its resolve.

Once his preparations were complete, Declan turned to face his men, the determination etched upon his face. He raised his voice, strong and unwavering, addressing the gathered soldiers who stood before him.

"Brothers in arms," Declan began, his voice carrying the weight of his conviction. "We stand on the precipice of a great challenge. Our path is fraught with uncertainty, and our duty calls us to face the unknown. But fear not, for we are united by our cause and bound by our unwavering courage."

He paused, his gaze sweeping across the faces of his comrades, taking in the steadfast resolve that mirrored his own. "Bravery is not the absence of fear, my friends, but the strength to face it head-on. We are warriors, defenders of righteousness, and it is in these moments that our mettle is truly tested."

Declan's voice grew resolute, carrying with it a sense of conviction that spread through the ranks like wildfire. "Remember, it is not the outcome that defines us, but the spirit with which we face our adversaries. Our actions shall be guided by honor, tempered by valor, and fueled by the knowledge that we fight for those who cannot fight for themselves."

A chorus of affirmations and nods echoed through the soldiers, their determination shining brightly in their eyes.

"So, my brothers, let us march forth with heads held high and hearts ablaze," Declan proclaimed, his voice ringing with an unyielding determination. "Nashkel awaits, and our duty beckons us onward. Together, we shall overcome any obstacle and emerge victorious."

With that, the men rallied, their spirits invigorated by Declan's words. They swiftly began packing up camp, a flurry of activity resonating with purpose and efficiency. As the last of the tents were dismantled, and the horses were prepared to move, Declan mounted Aegis, his gaze fixed forward, ready to lead his men into the unknown.

With a resolute nod to his comrades, he spurred his steed forward, the sound of hooves marking the beginning of their journey. They rode as one, their hearts bound by a common purpose, as they embarked on their mission to uphold justice and protect the people of the region.

While not native to the Cloudpeaks, winterwolves are likely not an uncommon sight amongst the snowy areas of the Cloudpeaks. One might stand out from amongst the rest, however. A lone winterwolf with green eyes rather than the icy blue common amongst the race; prowling the area, staying away from any form of civilization and people, yet killing some targets as he finds them. Frost trolls and giants, and the remorhaz seem to be the primary targets of the winterwolf.

He does not venture too near the temple of Auril, though the cold doesn't seem to bother him. it would be hard to tell his aims, other than the culling of the aforementioned groups of monstrous creatures and races. It would be noted by the observant, though, that he did not kill off entire populations. Rather, he simply attempted to weaken their fighting force.

And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die."

At the arrival of the forces in Crimmor, the Grand Knight wrote a letter to the Order's headquarters at the High Halls in Athkatla. A fast runner was sent with a response.
Grand Knight Lyonaler:

The Order of the Radiant Heart would be remiss not to answer the call to arms from its Auxiliary. The High Hall will dispatch a battalion of knights under Knight-Captain Regan Grath to rendezvous with the Helmite encampment north of Crimmor. Once they reach your position, I have instructed the Knight-Captain to defer to your command. The battalion is yours. Lead them well and may the Even-Handed shield you from the Icedawn's cold fury.

In camaraderie,
Prelate Wessalen
Some time later, the sound of marching, boots striking the ground in unison, as a platoon of twenty five Radiant heart Knights arrived in the Crimmor encampment. Sir Grath of the Athkatla branch of the Radiant Heart lead the Knights in procession up to Lord Lyonaler. After reporting in, leadership and duty over the Knights was handed to Aaron Lyonaler.

The Knights were then billeted in their tents, awaiting orders to move out with the army assaulting the temple of Auril.

The ice covered mountain roads of the Cloudpeaks saw a brief skirmish this day.

A motley assembly of knights, mercenaries, and their allies clashed with undead, winterwolves, and even a giant of a troll on the pass leading south from Nashkel.

The troll in particular was a fearsome foe, whose swings nearly sent a few tumbling into a frozen mountain pass before being brought law by magick, and metal.

High in the Cloudpeak mountains, where the biting cold gnawed at every exposed surface, Declan Nash found himself traversing a treacherous path along an icy ridge. The air was thin, and the world seemed muted in the ethereal silence of the snow-capped peaks. But little did he know that a formidable challenge lay in wait.

As he rounded a bend, his eyes widened at the sight of two hulking figures emerging from the swirling mist. Frost Giants, their towering frames draped in furs and their eyes gleaming with malicious intent, blocked his path with an icy resolve. The ground shook beneath their colossal footsteps, and their frost-covered axes glinted ominously in the pale light.

Declan's heart quickened with adrenaline as he readied himself for the impending clash. With unwavering resolve, he drew his gleaming sword from its sheath, the steel singing a harmonious tune as it cleaved through the frigid air. Aegis, his loyal warhorse, stood steadfast by his side, their unspoken bond a testament to their shared purpose.

The battle erupted with a thunderous roar. One of the giants lunged forward, swinging his massive axe in a deadly arc. Declan's instincts kicked in, and he parried the blow with practiced precision, his sword meeting the giant's weapon in a clash of steel and ice. The impact reverberated through his arm, but he held his ground, his unwavering resolve unyielding.

With a swift counterattack, Declan unleashed a flurry of strikes, his sword dancing with fluid grace as it sought weak points in the giant's defenses. Each strike found its mark, leaving deep gashes in the giant's frost-hardened flesh. But the giant, fueled by its primal rage, retaliated with a bone-crushing punch that sent Declan sprawling through the snow.

Undeterred by the blow, Declan sprang back to his feet, his determination shining in his eyes. He beckoned Aegis forward, the noble steed charging with unrestrained fury. Together, they executed a meticulously choreographed maneuver, Declan vaulting onto Aegis' back with a resounding leap.

With lightning speed, Aegis circled behind the second giant, his hooves kicking up sprays of ice and snow. Declan, poised atop his steadfast mount, unleashed a devastating assault, his sword singing through the frigid air. Each strike was a testament to his unwavering focus and unyielding will.

The giant bellowed in pain as Declan's blows found their mark, their combined might weakening the giant's defenses. Aegis's powerful kicks hammered against the giant's legs, destabilizing the titan. With a final, decisive strike, Declan cleaved through the giant's armor, his sword piercing its heart.

As the giant crumpled to the ground, defeated and lifeless, a moment of silence settled over the icy battlefield. The victor stood tall, his breath forming ethereal clouds in the freezing air. Declan's eyes flickered with a mix of exhaustion and triumph, his body pulsating with the adrenaline of the battle.

But his work was not yet done. As the mist swirled and the wind howled through the jagged peaks, Declan turned his attention to the fallen giant's comrade. With renewed determination, he prepared to face the second frost giant, ready to once again prove his indomitable spirit and unwavering commitment to protecting the innocent.

And so, amidst the unforgiving beauty of the Cloudpeak mountains, the dance of battle continued, Declan Nash standing as a beacon of defiance against the frozen tyranny that sought to consume the land.

Part II

The battle erupted with a thunderous roar that reverberated through the icy expanse of the Cloudpeak mountains. The frigid air crackled with tension as Declan Nash locked eyes with the towering frost giant standing before him. With its enormous frame and cruel weapon, it exuded an aura of raw power and ruthless aggression.

The giant lunged forward, its massive club raised high above its head. Declan's instincts kicked in with lightning speed. He sidestepped the attack, narrowly avoiding the bone-shattering impact. With his sword held high, he delivered a swift and precise strike to the giant's exposed side.

Steel met flesh with a resounding thud as Declan's blade carved through the giant's frost-hardened skin. The sound of tearing muscle and the giant's pained howl echoed through the mountains. Blood spurted from the wound, staining the pure white snow crimson.

Undeterred by its injuries, the giant retaliated with a ferocious swing of its club. Declan deftly ducked under the massive weapon, the whoosh of displaced air grazing his helmet. With a burst of energy, he launched a flurry of strikes, his sword a blur of silver in the frigid air.

Each swing was a calculated dance of precision, aimed at exploiting the giant's vulnerabilities. His blade danced along the giant's limbs, leaving a trail of deep gashes in its flesh. The giant roared in pain and frustration, its attacks growing more erratic and desperate.

Declan's footwork was swift and agile as he weaved through the giant's strikes. He evaded the bone-crushing blows with deftness, his movements guided by years of training and battle-hardened reflexes. With every successful parry and counterattack, he carved deeper into the giant's icy armor.

The battle raged on, the clash of metal and the giants' bellowing cries reverberating through the mountains. Snowflakes were sent flying in every direction, caught in the whirlwind of violence. The icy wind carried the scent of sweat and exertion, mingling with the metallic tang of blood.

Declan's armor bore the scars of the brutal encounter, dented and scratched from the giant's relentless onslaught. The weight of his sword grew heavier with each swing, yet his resolve remained unyielding. He knew that victory was within reach, that he had the strength and skill to overcome this formidable foe.

Finally, with a final display of unwavering determination, Declan seized an opening. He delivered a powerful strike to the giant's knee, causing it to buckle under the immense force. The giant crashed to the ground, its earth-shaking impact causing tremors to ripple through the snow-covered landscape.

Silence fell over the mountains as Declan stood amidst the aftermath of the battle. His breath came in ragged gasps, his body bruised and battered. The stillness of the snow-covered peaks contrasted with the intensity of the conflict that had unfolded.

*Watcher Wai Li issues an armies wide proclamation and prayer in the past tenday as the Northern and Southern armies advance on the Icedawn.*
The final battle is nigh. Know that as we march towards hostile cold that we not only have many comrades besides us, but that vigil, good cause, and the Glory of Amn are our allies as well. Who holds vigil? We do! Who holds the Cloud Peak Mountains? Amn does! Who fights for the cause of law and good and against the unseasonable chaos and disorder and extortion magic that these cold worshipping fanatics believe in? This army does.

You may think you are afraid, but you’re not. That isn’t fear. That’s your vigil. That’s your power. The cold kobolds go to the Cloud Peaks and call it their own, but Amn and our ancestors opened it, not some copper power hungry Auril worshiping nobodies. We are armies made of good and lawful causes, of vigil, of Amn! Wherever we advance in this battle is where we belong. It will not be easy. We face the powers of a vengeful goddess and her fanatical followers. They will blast us with avalanche calamity, monstrous allies, unsanctioned uses of magical energy, and cold and winter itself. We will face losses, but we will fight as if on the cusp of victory, because we are. Go into battle knowing that!

For Helm! For Amn! For the good and law of the realms! Attack in vigil. All units advance! Watcher guide our blades, arrows, and spells against foe!

In the heart of the bustling encampment, a figure draped in the shimmering splendor of mithril armor stands out, bedecked with a captivating blend of regal purple and gleaming gold. Few might recognize him, for Aiden Vega is no celebrated hero, but those with a keen memory may recall a glimpse of him from battles past, or daring escapades that once took him beyond the treacherous peaks of The Cloudpeaks.

Having returned to the legendary Sword Coast, Aiden retreats to the sanctuary of the tree line, seeking solace in the embrace of nature's silent guardians. Under the veil of night, he kneels in solemn supplication to the Lady of Peace, fervently praying for a path that spares the world from unnecessary suffering and the stain of unwarranted bloodshed. His dedication to a noble cause, though not widely known, speaks volumes of a warrior's heart that yearns for a peaceful resolution amidst the tumultuous tides of conflict.

As the sun rises to paint the sky with shades of hope, Aiden dedicates his days to relentless training, honing his skills with determination and discipline. Within the confines of his modest tent, he immerses himself in heartfelt correspondence, penning letters to those he holds dear. Though his name may not echo in the halls of legends, the warmth and sincerity of his words resonate with those who know him well. Only a few nights ago, he dispatched a series of heartfelt messages to his closest comrades and steadfast allies, extending the bond that unites them.

And now, as dusk descends, the knightly-looking man stands watchful and composed, awaiting the call of destiny. In the book of tales woven through the realm, he may be but a humble thread, yet within his veins courses the spirit of a Purple Dragon Knight, renowned for their valor and unwavering commitment to justice. While the world may not have sung ballads of his triumphs, whispers of his skill and prowess in combat have reached the ears of a select few.

A sense of anticipation hangs in the air, mingling with the aroma of campfires and the distant sounds of a camp preparing for the unknown. Aiden Vega, a silent guardian, stands ready to embrace the battle to come.

The night before the march towards the Temple...Within the tent camp of Crimmor, the sounds of preparations ring out loudly. The faces of the soldiers assembled ranging from hopeful, to determined, to worry for the outcome of the coming battle. The Baldurian Nobleman and Grand Knight of the Baldur's Gate's Chapter of the Order, walked the camp. A nod is offered to passing soldiers and an encouraging word offered to those surrounding camp fires. He arrived at the tents set up for the Knights of the Order of the Radiant Heart battalion. A large tent is set up in the center of the sleeping tents for his men and women. As the Grand Knight approaches, a Knight lifts the tent flap as he enters.

Within are the assembled Knights. Some finishing a meal, some ensuring their weapons and gear are in pristine condition, others having a quiet word with one another before the battle. A call of "Ten-hut!" goes out as the Grand Knight enters. The Knights all come to attention, standing and each placing their right fist over their left breast. The salute is returned, along with "At ease". The Knights quickly return to their seats, their focus upon Aaron.

Ocean blue eyes look over the assembled Knights, men and women he did not know before their arrival in the camp. But, they were brothers and sisters in the Order, in faith, in goal. Prelate Wessalen had placed the lives of these people into his hands, a great responsibility. The Grand Knight felt that responsibility, even if it did not show. Any loss of life under his command struck him like a blow. he would do all possible to ensure as many of these Knights would return to their homes.

"Brothers and sisters, thank you for your dedication to the Order and to your home country and countrymen. You know that I am not of Amn, but I wish you all to be certain, we answer the call to aid when it comes. As you do so answer now." His tone appreciative, an admiration for their willingness to be here. "We soon meet the enemy in the field. We soon march to engage those who would hold an entire town hostage. Those who would deal in underhanded means, those who would deal with monsters and enemies of humanity. They are those who believe that only the strong must survive. that others have no right to life if they do not fit what their Ice Demoness deems deserving of life. Those who would hide the very sun if it were their choice."

A soft release of air is followed b a deep breath. "We march soon to assault the tower. We move together. We remain a unit. Some in this camp fight for their names to be recalled. Some for coin. But," *he pauses for just a moment* "We are here, fighting for each other. We all wish to return home. Show your abilities and let us all return!" The sound of banging of metal gauntlets against metal gauntlets is heard, pats on the back of neighboring Knights to each other.

"Listen to your orders. If you find yourselves lost or separated from the battalion, look for my helm" *He holds his red colored feathered helm* "And return to us. honor your god. Honor the Order in battle. Honor your families. Honor yourselves! Fight for your countrymen and women, for they need you now. They need you at your best. That.." *A moments pause as ocean blue eyes look over the men and women before him* "That, 'best' is what we will show to our enemies. And it will be the last thing they see in this life!" *He raises his fist as he finishes* A cheer goes out from the tent that is heard throughout the encampment.
