If i remember correctly, this was asnwered before. Server2 cannot be opened up because of exploits and the more time and wotk it takes for the devs to maintain and update it.So yeah, for basic preservation of role-play, it would been nicer to see Server 2 opened up to more than just QC, while Server 1 maintained it's general RP vibe. But hey, that's just me talkin'.

On a more serious note leaving 100% of XP for RCR up to level 20 seems reasonable to me..........

I'm in favor of 1 rebuild every 4 months since it's just way too easy to screw up your character, even with careful planning.
Beyond that you shouldn't even be able to RCR past lv 10.

Hey guys, can someone just explain to me what are the changes in dispel fix? And was the Practiced Spellcaster been altered, and if yes, how? Thanks.

I don't think Practiced Spellcaster has changed (although that's a thing, right?).clean_slate wrote:Hey guys, can someone just explain to me what are the changes in dispel fix? And was the Practiced Spellcaster been altered, and if yes, how? Thanks.
As for the dispel fix, if you check the wiki as well, it originally worked like this:
Dispel Caster roll = 1d20 + Caster level (capped appropriate to each spell [e.g. Lesser Dispel capped at +5])
vs.
Target to Dispel = DC: 11 + Character level of effect
So the old way used Character level NOT caster level of the effect. So a level 30 rogue w/ UMD using a level 5 CL wand would get effect level 30 +11 for dispel DC.
The update changed the Character level to Caster Level (which is technically what it should be). So with the new change, that same level 30 rogue would have a caster level of 5 from the wand +11 for a total DC of 16.

Your caster level now can't exceed you hit dice. Which means a 20 Wiz/10 Archmage with praticed spellcaster now has a CL of 30, instead of 34.clean_slate wrote: And was the Practiced Spellcaster been altered, and if yes, how? Thanks.

Re: Incoming Update
I have a general query for everyone, and I don't want to start up a new thread, so I'll stick it here:
Is anyone having any issues incorporating all the mechanical changes into their characters pre-existing role-play?
The reason I ask is because I'm curious to know how other players are tailoring their RP to accommodate for things working differently(in some cases drastically so, IE: domains, spells), if at all.
Nothing much has changed for my main character in that regard, but I suspect that one of my alts, specifically my sorcerer(with the changes to Bigbys) will certainly feel it. I suppose I could easily just RcR him and wash my hands of any RP plausibility conundrums, but I wanted to hear how other players were coping with similar issues first. Thoughts?

Re: Incoming Update
I am in the same boat, I have RP'ed my classes for so long and now if I DO RCR I will have to come up with some reason as to why they have suddenly changed... I'm lost. I could simply leave them be and deal with the issues it will present or simply not play them anymore I guess.. not sure what to do?

I think most character changes are quickly forgiven at a time like this where 100% RCR is unheard of and many new skills exist that your character would have taken if available at the time.

Re: Incoming Update
I honestly felt quite odd RCRing Kory out of WM with the dispel fix that went in. Although admittedly I do not have the same feelings toward RCR that others do with their RP. However I can see where this is going to present a few issues for some of the more hard corps players in RP. I feel for you guys. On the other hand what is it specifically that stops your RP suddenly? For those with spell casters the BIgby change is big but are there not many many other spells a caster should use? Hadn't bigby become a lazy man's go to spell instead of really utilizing the full spell book at times? Just an opinion for me as I do not play arcanists I am not smart enough for them. Hell I am barely smart enough to play Kory as a divine guy and I still fubar it badly.......

Re: Incoming Update
I'm using the opportunity to adjust things to fit my RP better. I'm taking out spells that don't fit my character concept (dropped all of my water spells since I'm primarily fire-oriented in RP), re-adjusting attributes, incorporating the new skills that make sense for the character, and I dropped a class (sorcerer) that didn't end up panning out in RP like I had thought it would.
Otherwise, I'm keeping the same build. I can't understand why people would make radical changes to their class composition if it doesn't fit their RP. Don't go FotM, if you're going to change anything use the opportunity to change things to fit your character more, not less.

I hear you, it's a bit of a chore to wrap my head around it too. And I'll wager it's leaving more than a few old timers like you and myself in limbo. Thankfully the worst thing that happened to my main was his stockpile of wands turned into a bundle of glorified toothpicksLISA100595 wrote:I am in the same boat, I have RP'ed my classes for so long and now if I DO RCR I will have to come up with some reason as to why they have suddenly changed... Aside from shelving a concept, it basically comes down to players(of long time/established characters at least) either attempting to role-play the mechanical changes into something believable, which might not be so easy, or RCR'ing out the kinks and attempting to RP that into something believable. Hrrm...

Re: Incoming Update
All my current PCs have builds that cannot be improved upon, even with the changes in the last update(s).
I looked at options in the last days, and tried a few alt builds, but nothing improved for mechanical power, nor for "RP." Fun. Maybe good planning on my part? I don't know.
But players have been RCRing the same Character into different Classes / PrCs with changing Abilities for years...so it didn't change much about RP back then...except for many a bunch of groans and eye rolls.
