Does the "Order of the Iron Gaunlet" (Monk order dedicated to Bane) already exist in the timeline of the server? There is so little information about it in the web...

I found another Monk Order dedicated to Bane: "The Strifehands". There is even less information.

I am interested in any kind of Bane-related Monk-stuff.

Can somebody help me out here?

The Order of the Iron Gauntlet has been around for at least nearly 100 years. I cannot establish an exact date but I found references of them around 1261 DR.

edit: If you want more info, just let me know and I will search when I have more time.

I would really appreciate it!

Where do you find that stuff anyway?

I have a fairly large collection of D&D 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 pdf's and hardcover books and other reference materials. Plus I know a few other fellow D&D geeks and nerds that have even better collections than I do

"Mara Kalaliv (LE female half-elf Mnk6) leads the Order of the Iron Gauntlet, a small group of Zhent monks who worships Bane. Mara has been given orders by Scyllua to actively recruit members into the Black Gauntlet and train them in stealth and assassination." - from Lords of Darkness.

Scyllua is listed as being the current Castellan of Zhentil Keep after Fzoul siezed control between 1368 and 1370 in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, so the Black Gauntlet likely does not yet exist. The only other knighthoods and orders listed in official sources to Bane seem to have happened after the Time of Troubles.

Bane's Clerics are listed in his portfolio as most often multiclassing as Fighters, Monks, and Blackguards, so one can still be a Monk in the church of Bane.

Darn! I have no intention of playing a cleric, so that fact does not really help me. :(

Trying to look for a good source of traditional FR songs and epics for my bard. Anyone know a good source?

www.candlekeep.com was suggested but I'm not a fan of the way it's organized.

Also, info on the cult that does daggerspell thing would be nice (specific sourcebooks for example, but I don't remember them detailing the groups activities)

Well, I am confused about this contradiction. And you both "sound" like you know what you're talking about. What is true?

It's pretty important for me to know, because I want my character concept to be correct lore-wise. And if there is really no monk order of Bane at the point in time our beloved server is in, I will have to come up with another concept.

Does your source say that Scyllua and/or Mara created the order? If not, then the order could have existed for much longer than that with just Mara being the most recent leader and Scyllua just ordered her to actively recruit?

I'm still rechecking but, if some online references are accurate, the Order was with the Zhentarim caravan that was en route to Glister that was destroyed by the Barbarians of the Ride in 1352. I'll poke a few D&D history gurus on this to help.

I'm just wondering why a level 6 Monk is leading a 'small', but ancient order... Catam's source does say the caravan was destroyed so it may be a reboot under the same name?

Candlekeep has a huge reference list for all of the official orders and bands that have ever been listed, but there's little to no information there at all on the Banite groups and the only information I can track down is in Lords of Darkness and the FR Campaign Setting as footnotes. Those are the main sources for information on Banite and Zhent holdings outside of the novels.

I wish I had more info, I'm eager to learn more about the order too.

Best I can do is find a bit in the sources you mentioned and the Grand History of the Realms... it isn't much though.

Give me a bit more time. Thumbing through Dungeon Magazine and Dragon Magazine... hoping for a bit more to go on. Poking through WotC website didn't net me a whole lot either. Let me check the magazines and get back to you.

My Character Dominic is wishing to learn more about the weather patterns of the region. Any information as to the weather in the region would be welcome. I would hate to be Roleplaying doing weather test saying the winds usually come from the west and head east when if fact they come in from the east and go westward.

Any help would be welcome.

Just a quick search through here gives some very general info:
http://www.realmshelps.net/faerun/lore/life/land.shtml

I've noticed they are pretty accurate for general info.

I will have some more time later this week I hope to dig through source material, but if Memory serves... Around Baldur's Gate it is your typical temperate coastal climate. Think cool spring with storms, warm summers with lots of wind, cool fall, cold winters (but nothing like say, Icewind Dale) plenty of rain along the Sword Coast too (save for the current timeframe when there is a pretty hefty drought.) Picture the US East Coast from about New Jersey maybe to... Georgia? for a rough Idea at least. I'll work on digging up specifics and source material.
