It is rumored that certain members of the dock worker force have been harassing locals in taverns about the Virtuous Soil. Those who frequent the soup kitchen would note that one of the ring leaders was a regular there.

The wanted posters are discreetly taken down and the Flaming Fist are no longer looking for girl. No one knows why, but many speculate some sort of evidence was found or some sort of deal was made. No one knows for sure.

Rumors circulate throughout the city of Baldur's Gate that that a merchant wearing bright blue has taken up a collection from adventurers and other wealthy notables. The money is to be used to aid the people of Scornubel, as well as those displaced by the events in Kheldrivver and Greenest.

Posters would find their way to most of the places where people gathered within the city -- temples, taverns, even places of business.

Rumors might lead those who were interested to the east district of the farmlands just outside, where the blue lady had been seen setting up a stand to accept donations of coin and materials alike.

During the quietest hours of the night, the hint of a shadow flits silently and methodically down the darkened alleyways and side streets of the Docks. The vaguest hint of rustling cloth and the lightening of purses from the more finely dressed citizens would be the only only indication of the shadows passing.

A short while later the voice of a nobleman, who had foolishly decided to wander into the basement of the Blushing Mermaid, would be heard to cry out from the recesses of the dingy tavern:

"Arrest the thief!"

A futile cry, it seems, as the shadow was already on the move. The lock to the sewer grate would be found expertly picked shortly thereafter, while the near silent swishing of boots might be heard moving swiftly away down the sewers passages.

After months of bobbing up and down the waves of the docks, the Whistling Wanderess seems to be a point of activity once more, as fresh supplies are hauled on board and the navigator discussing with the harbourmaster about setting sail soon.

The half-elf known as Jon Smythe found himself basking in the warmth, seasonal to the month of Highsun, sitting upon pedestal along the edge of the Eastern District plaza, as he attempted to sell some wares. A ray of light flashed upon something small, wedged deep between cobblestone—a small metallic looking edge recently unearthed to shine its peculiar brilliance.

Image

Bending down close, he would try and grip the edge but could not, leading him to remove a dagger from a sheath and pry between stone and...with a extra push of strength, his blade successfully dislodged a coin of remarkable uniqueness. As he stood, placing the dagger back into his belt sheath and palming the coin, he turned it once, then twice, then again...eying the coin and wondering aloud: "This does not look like a normal coin of the Realm!"

Image

Smythe held his position for some time, thinking on this coin. The contrast between his holding steady ground and the bustle of the plaza, caused a few citizenry to pause to stop to observe what he himself, was observing. "Strange...wonderful...remarkable..." he would say. In turn, someone passing by casually responded to him by saying "Besides those freak storms in winter dat drowned dem rats—Umberlee be praised—been ages since The Mirari brought all manner of strange things to this plaza. Wonder where dey went?"

And indeed...Jon Smythe held this peculiar coin in his hand, and wondered too, where they had gone.

Some time later, in the Eastern District Plaza, Jon Smythe was seen and heard speaking with an elven woman of silver hair, green armor and a brown cloak.

Jon Smythe: *shuffles up to the elven woman*

Jon Smythe: Hello miss....

Jon Smythe: *he tips his large black hat in recognition*

Elven Woman: *offers a polite nod* Hello Mister.

Jon Smythe: You wouldn't perhaps have lost a particular coin around these parts...have you?

Elven Woman: I am not missing any coin, no. *she shakes her head*

Jon Smythe: Ahh...well...just had to ask, considering you were lingering in this area. No matter then.... *he shrugs and then smiles, lightly*

Elven Woman: I think you may have mistaken me for someone else.

Jon Smythe: Could not have mistaken you for someone I myself do not know who they are...but! I understand your meaning.

Elven Woman: That's true! Do you think it is of any worth?

Elven Woman: Perhaps putting up a post on the board might help you, rather asking strangers here.

Jon Smythe: If it does have a value beyond its metallurgic value....that is the great mystery!

Jon Smythe: Welll....*seems to be considering her proposal* sometimes, one must be careful to who and what they advertise.

Jon Smythe: Do you know what I mean?

Elven Woman: Certainly!

Elven Woman: But, i could just have said yes as well. Then i might have the coin by now.

Jon Smythe: Not true, not true! Unless you would be able to describe it to me, in detail.

Elven Woman: So it isn't just a normal coin?

Jon Smythe: *crinkles his nose when the half-orc knight walks by*

Jon Smythe: My dear...I would not bother my time with only a normal coin.

Elven Woman: I did sound silly at first aswell. *she starts to size Jon up*

Jon Smythe: Well then...my search continues! Always good to have something to keep one busy.

Elven Woman: Aye, good luck finding the right one.

Jon Smythe: *he tips his large black hat in recognition*

Elven Woman: *offers another nod as goodbye*

Nikos takes his place at the plaza in the eastern district of Baldurs Gate. Ah begins to play his lute, he observes the half-elf discussing with the elven woman. His keen hearing catches something about a coin. Knowing very well, that the most glorious adventures of The Mirari begun by helping someone that seeks information, he pauses his perfomance and walks towards Jon Smythe

"Greetings Sir..."

Sailors around the docks note that the exploration-merchant vessel of the Whistling Wanderess is being outfitted for potential naval conflict. Bulwarks are being installed, and the sound of hammering fills the pier of the stalwart lady of the seas.

Rumours say a pair of white haired people, young despite their elderly-hair colour in appearance, have brought three crates of alchemical explosives into the docks.

Later on, the couple is identified to be a male and female, as they danced away the night at the Helm and cloak!

A younge woman with dirty light hair with slivers of blue is seen sitting with the orphans of the town chatting and joking and eating breads. She doesn't seem that much older then them, her face is dirty like theirs yet she is dressed in a chain mithral shirt which makes some people question what an orphan would have with such attire. They group sing and dance until the sun goes down in which she then leaves them with a pile of fish in which is smoked and delicious. A glorious expression on her face as she watches over the children's excitement.

"This is the kind of thing money will never be able to buy." She says softly before heaving a heavy back over her shoulders careful not to dent her bow, her hum can be still heard in the blushing mermaid later on in the evening.

Any individuals who wandered through the Docks district recently might notice a peculiar spectacle as, for whatever reason, a faint jingle or glint of newfound coin might be detectable within the grubby hands of street children as they bound past, while fresh loaves of bread would appear under the arms of numerous waifs in the area.

A tall female Halfling in full plate is seen handing a letter to one of the guards at the Radiant Heart compound. Shortly thereafter she is seen heading into the Temple of Helm and handing another to the priest attendant there. In neither case does she seem to care whether she is seen, striding confidently with her strawberry blonde braid bobbing behind her.

There are rumors floating around the Palace district that a short, dark woman with blue eyes and dark hair was seen ranting and raving to several Flaming Fist soldiers just outside of High Hall, a blue-skinned elf and another human man standing nearby. Many would claim the woman to be none other than Endelyon Castillo, Director of the Commercial Exchange. Others would say that there was no way the woman in front of the palace was Endelyon on account that she was dressed all in black, and one or two people swore it was Cheryl, the proprietor.

Whatever the case, the rumors all agreed on one thing: The woman and those with her had disappeared into the palace, after asking for advice with their garden.

Rumors would start to circulate around the Docks regarding an incident that transpired in the Blushing Mermaid sometime in the quiet hours of the night... the details of which might only be heard to be spoken in hushed tones by the various patrons visiting the tavern that eve.

Anyone visiting the Mermaids basement the same night or the morning after would easily notice the grisly aftermath of the incident...

Hidden: show
... blood spattered about the room, and the remains of three humanoid forms, shorter in stature and reduced to smoldering, melted corpses. The stench of the room would be rather over-powering and acidic in nature. A small pool of vomit would also be found at the base of the stairs.
Shortly after the rumors start to circulate, and sometime before the sun begins to rise over The Gate, a pair of severed hands, pressed together at the palms and skewered together with a jeweled dagger, would mysteriously appear in the middle of the square between the small pillars that lie outside Maltz' shop... seemingly left openly for any passerbys to see. Anyone examining the severed appendages more closely might be able to determine they previously belonged to a dwarf.

Two more pairs of severed hands, also pinned together by the same type of jeweled daggers, might also be noticed by anyone passing through a few of the more obscure areas of Baldurs Gate...

Hidden: show
The second pair of hands would be found in the Shrine of Mask carefully positioned against the offering tray. A gleaming topaz would appear to be wedged between the palms and against the bloody daggers blade.

The third pair of dismembered dwarven hands would be pinned to the sign at the entrance inside the sewer bowels, along with a small note that is written in a flowing script.

"Such is, and further will be, the fate of those who dare to crawl from this hole to despoil Our city."
