There is talk of a lot of strange 'research' going on within the school of conjuration. Not seemingly dangerous. Not really all that secret either, though few have been able to guess what it is about. Either way, the servant staff is on high alert as a particular wizardess have been seen running around the halls in a cloud of paper and been the cause of some unforseen water spillages that they are quick to be deployed to clean up after. Even worse, the wizardess supervices these cleanups by actually joining in on the work.

Whispered murmurs and rumors abound within the city as more and more apprentices take to the streets of Sshamath.

Symbols for the Magtheres of Necromancy, Illusion, Divination, Conjuration and Evocation can be seen more frequently.

What the Apprentices of these Magtheres are up to, the citizens can only speculate.

A drow male wearing the emblem of the Magthere of Illusion and Phantasm can be seen more and more wandering the markets and some of the more exotic sellers of Sshamath, seeking many varied components. Although short, he stands out quite a bit from the customer base due to his "radical" hairstyle...a silvery-white mohawk. And although he is exquisitely dressed, none dare approach him because of the insignia he proudly wears.

Speculation continues on his many stops throughout the market. Follow up with the sellers find that of the items, some were "ground silver, a dwarf's petrified finger, xorn essence and en-spelled ink".

Rumors swirl with guesses on what one of the Illusion's Apprentices is up to.

A few curious looks and attentive ears may be floating around the Dark Weavings Bazaar at the arrival of a jalil claiming to have come from Ched Nasad. It seems she desires to establish stronger trade ties between the two cities by opening a local chapter of the Black Claw Mercantile Company. She currently seems to be merely in the process of prospecting possible trade houses and making general enquiries amongst the ruling Magocracy as to acquiring the relevant permissions and, more importantly, property, so as to begin setting up operations in S'shamath.

Droin Ironflat, at the marketplace is today in an even more angry mood. When asked, he only replies something about stupid guards and their restrictions. Rumors spread by first hour costumers say that market activity began with a big painting on Droin's tent. The more talkative, and maybe stupid or drunk, customers of Gloura's Wings say that city guards removed and put the tent on fire as soon as they have seen it and (when nobody else is listening) that in the painting can be read "Watch your backs drows, the Dark Maiden has now eyes and hands on Sshamath".

Hushed whispers within the streets and alleys speak of the constant activity from certain drow within the Magthere of Illusion and Phantasm. Servants could be seen running to and from the market, retrieving a wide array of regeants and components. Strong pulls of the Art could be felt coming from the compound walls and every so often, bright flashes of all ranges and colors could be seen overhead.

The constant hustle and bustle further cemented one thing to those learned in the Art: The Mage Fair was upon them.

Mild curses and metallic clatter occasionally disturb the peace near the abode and shop belonging to Nalirin Ore'le'i.
It would seem the old faern is preparing to do something more than the crafting of blades for a change.
Hopefully it will be elsewhere or at least less loud.

Some say that the masked drow wizardess known as Irraena of the Magthere of Mages has revealed to her face, claiming to be Drathyrra, an apprentice faernil who disappeared one year ago after rumors regarding Quellar Dev'lin torturing and killing a young female drow wizard in The Spider's Kiss.

Hushed whispers among the lower ranks within the Magthere of Illusion speak of an incident that happened outside the Magthere gates. Nymrath Urlbrak was seen departing the compound when one of the guards decided to be somewhat courteous to the Illusionist.

"Fruitful journey, Faern" The guard bid him as he walked by. The guard adjacent to the one that spoke also inclined his head as the words of farewell were spoken. Nymrath stopped immediately, standing still.

Both guards immediately shouted in anguish and fell to their knees, hands attempting to cover their eyes and ears. "My eyes!" They screamed. "I cannot see!"

Nymrath was said to look halfway back and state simply. "Ussa am a M'elzar, jaluk. Dos will do well to remember that." And continued walking on, leaving the guards to scramble around, blind.

At the Cage, a cluster of columns on the western edge of the city located in a low-roofed side cavern, a captive umberhulk continually repeats some phrases in terran speak. It seems he speaks of his life before he was captured.

Another tiff. Another row. Another rift.

Predictably, I was sulking in my burrow,
dragging earth with iron claws. Chucking loam.
OK, I was tunneling down, I was deconstructing love,
mulling who knew how to better cook tubers and shrews (me),
whose turn it was to weekend with the other’s in-laws (she).
Why this union was corridor-like, one path, blind.

I reached the end of my passageway, Some unbudgeable rock.
But suddenly, my she-hulk arrived. She removed
her bedroom gloves and cracked her knuckles.
“What about your nails?” I asked. She shrugged
and burrowed beside me.

I paused to I admire her large, bipedal form,
that insectoid aberration, her ape-like build.
Her body a dull black, shading to yellowish gray on her front.
Lovely.

Her ivory mandibles. Still ivory.
Twenty years and I still admired her ability to confuse
any creature that sees all four of her eyes.
I still desired her.

“My umber love,” I cooed.
“You’re my knight, ” she replied.
We hunkered down. We dug.
We hunted for soft sweet dwarven flesh together.
Gnomes taste good too.

An outpost has been built in the tunnels above Sshamath. It is rumored to have been commissioned by the Magthere of Illusion, yet several undead and city guards are working in unison in patrols nearby. Those observing closely would believe they were searching for something.

Rumours at Gloura's Wing speak of the faehlil Uelaereene spending countless hours sit in front of a jar of beer lost in her thoughts and not drinking a single drop. Some say that they have seen her walking with no apparent direction in the marketplace, with no interest in the wares.
