What about when 'male' elves get pregnant? I think an exception should be made for them.

I'm sorry, I wasn't even going to comment in this thread but I laughed so hard at that. xDEclypticon wrote:I do not want to see any pregnant elves grinding in Cloakwood with their orc lover. That stuff is just too immersion breaking even for me.

PS - Now that I'm here, I should probably give my two cents. I think if you want to be pregnant, that's your business and I think it should be cleared with a DM. If you're granted and your preggers, for gods sake stay out of the action. Don't be running after dragons or fighting villains; you run and get your butt inside where it's safe or at least far enough away you're not involved.

Re: Updated Server Rules - Pregnancy requires DM approval?
I have to admit, I simply do not get the PG-13 rule. Is it put here because of the fact that server is hosted on U.S ground? Well that is seriously disturbing for me
No one is sayin' let's just make this server open for everything there is, including hardcore ERP, gore and other stuff. Believe me.. There are places for that. For example nwn1 server which has more players than this one. People with specific preferences in RP go to those places and stay there. This is why those servers are active.
Do not make general population seem like bunch of sexually obsessed teens or prudes.. If someone want to play pregnant character, so be it, it doesn't mean that this person is somehow sick and twisted. Just stick to the rules of pregnancy. Banning player from playing is for me a little bit off the rails... It sends the wrong message.
We make a taboo from intercourse, pregnancy, torture. I always thought that dark fantasy is what FR setting is, aside from its heroic part. For the love of chaos, we do have UD. I didn't even want to think how drow society works down there with this pg-13BS.
In my country we had a server with an original setting, dark fantasy, Inquisition, UD, and so on, and no one got hurt. Well ok we had only ca. 25players and some of them young, but we just took a close watch and I trusted, as a head dm, the dm team and the players to report if sth was for them not pleasant. We then dealt with the issue at hand. We had more troubles with ooc knowlegde than with mature content.
Seriously it is so easy to determine if the player is mature or not. I am more disturbing by this constant warding going around (magic is cheap.. lol) with resting all around than I would be with a pregnant PC.
There are those who just want to focus on killing, lvls, etc, and those who want some realism in RP relationships, this how do you say it, playin' house part. Let them.
I am new here, but what I'v seen already is quite a community:), nice and kind people with brains. We may have here some crazy, irresponsible ones also but those are to be guided, controlled or banned if there is a point. Let others play their own thing within reason they sure have common sense. More faith in people I guess.
It is like we the players and the dm-admin team are afraid that, we cannot handle a bad player.
I strongly agree with Grymhild, JCVD1 and others with similar opinions and didn't mean any offence to anyone here, if I did so, I am sorry. Peace be upon you ppl.

Wait - there are male elves?! I thought all elves were female and all dwarves were male, you know, like cats and dogs. Hmm, so some elves might be male. I guess in years past that might've made some of Rabbits comments seem .... weird.Thorsson wrote:What about when 'male' elves get pregnant? I think an exception should be made for them.

Then I suppose you wont like me telling you that a few young child orcs, some babies, where burned in Triel by the Orders of the Zhentarim.Selande wrote: I don't like the idea of someone using a baby as a shield, having to think about the consequences of someone in our realm with a baby being attacked or diseased or whatever.

Re: Updated Server Rules - Pregnancy requires DM approval?
Im sorry i don't understand this... whats so wrong with someone rping pregnancy, harming children is protected under the 13pg rule already so whats the big deal?.
Dm approval for it sure i can see that in a way but i would be more leaning towards let the player decide, its true the rules are here for a reason but if the continue to get tighter and tighter you will lose players, some people like this sort of rp its not harming you, so let them have it.
Retiring characters for the pregnancy well yes and no i can see that once you have realized that your pregnant you're not going to go running of to do battle with a dragon, why ? because that would be stupid and unsafe for your child but if you want to sit around friendly arm inn and chat with all your friends, Go for it, i have a baby girl and even while i was pregnant i stepped outside every now and again to catch up with my friends.
I don't personally intend to have any children IC but i like annies rp, i wouldn't stop that just because the server has had one or two bad experiences, stop the players that cause the problem not the entire server.
and lastly pregnancy is not playing what's on your character sheet, the dm's big rule to stop anything that can't or hasn't been coded into the game, i see humans claiming to be hags, elf's that say there half dragon, dwafs that say there half dwarf and loads of other crazy things, you want a "just had a baby" feat well i will make one for you then a dm can give it to anyone approved for child care.
if anyone should be punished or any server rules changed it should be to deal with those NOT currently rping not those who want to rp something different, this is not a hack and slash with friends its a rp server and having a child with someone if a very real part of life.

You do realize that the FAI is in the middle of the wilderness, yeah? Gnolls attack people. Lizardfolk attack people. Orcs attack people. Tricksters attack people. PEOPLE attack people. Random DM spawns because they for some reason don't like people being at the campfire attack people.Ariella wrote:Retiring characters for the pregnancy well yes and no i can see that once you have realized that your pregnant you're not going to go running of to do battle with a dragon, why ? because that would be stupid and unsafe for your child but if you want to sit around friendly arm inn and chat with all your friends, Go for it, i have a baby girl and even while i was pregnant i stepped outside every now and again to catch up with my friends.
I mean, let's face it, you'd be safer off bringing your pregnant character to Triel the way things are now.

Re: Updated Server Rules - Pregnancy requires DM approval?
What if I tell you that I personally lost count of all the times I saw a pot-bellied, pregnant woman mulching through hordes of mobs or, even worse, willingly putting themselves in an EXTREMELY dangerous situation whilst pregnant? Does it make any sense?Retiring characters for the pregnancy well yes and no i can see that once you have realized that your pregnant you're not going to go running of to do battle with a dragon, why ? because that would be stupid and unsafe for your child but if you want to sit around friendly arm inn and chat with all your friends, Go for it, i have a baby girl and even while i was pregnant i stepped outside every now and again to catch up with my friends.
I do not recall my wife going hunting bears with me whilst pregnant. I do not think someone else's wife did, as well.
Before speaking of violated liberties and authoritarianism, I would first wonder what could some players have done to warrant such a modification to the server rules. Ever heard the saying "for every rule, there is a fool"?

Re: Updated Server Rules - Pregnancy requires DM approval?
There has been a lot of debate here about ERP and such, but to be honest, the post below is what sparked this discussion amongst the DMs. We received a complaint because in the original post, the player commented on how their player was pregnant. We received PMs from players upset and offended that a DM would brutally beat a pregnant woman.
Problem was the DM DID NOT KNOW the player was pregnant. To avoid future incidents like this, we started our debate, and you can see, if you go look at the post, that we have been debating this since January, so the decision was not made quickly or lightly.

Rumour has it that the Captain named Antonio de Coibra was brutalizing some citizens of Beregost accused of being 'disruptive of Order.' He smashed the teeth out of a man, breaking his jaw, and later on sought out another young girl within the place accused of trying to warn the people that guards were coming. The patrons of the inn watched the Captain strike the girl despite her objections that he had misunderstood, dragging her outside, where he proceeded to kick her in the stomach and face as she was lying helpless on the cobblestones. The sadistic entourage of citizens cheered this domestic display of brutal violence, only interrupted by a few of the adventurous persuasion who could not watch the violence, before the limp husk of a human being was finally dragged towards the Temple of Lathander. Even the servants inside who recieved her was horrified at the cruel display of the Amnish forces. Against the initial protests of the Church, the two victims of violence was later dragged outside the city limits.
Her blood would still be smeared on the ground in a macabre trail from the inn towards the temple, where she had been dragged.

Re: Updated Server Rules - Pregnancy requires DM approval?
I will admit i think pregnant players should be forced to include such in there bio to avoid this, just a side note down the bottom wouldn't hurt, as for friendly arms inn Deathgrowl i was more using it as an example me personally i would stick to the camp fire at the gate, but again if your character knows its pregnant and runs of to kill a dragon well thats not really rping and theirs already a rule that punishes such actions.DM Nephilim wrote:There has been a lot of debate here about ERP and such, but to be honest, the post below is what sparked this discussion amongst the DMs. We received a complaint because in the original post, the player commented on how their player was pregnant. For the love of Ned Stark's unborn grand child, stop being so squeemish about everying people.
Complains that you got your Character beat? Please... PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A JOKE.
I'm against all type of restrictions, but let's say I make a compromise and have pregnant character be forced (after 5 months of pregnancy) to get -10 to dex, vulnerability to all dmg type +50% and constant movement decrease spead (trust me, the wife waddled the hell of the world while being pregnant) and would have to wear a "cursed " piece of clothing while being pregnant(with all those penalties). That would alone discourage grinding while being pregnant, and wouldn't have to ask Dm permission other than to ask for the Cursed blouse of Epic pregnancy or the Rocky boots of waddle.

Hehe this idea made me laugh so hard that my colleagues have been looking at me like I am insane

As for the half-dwarfs... Have you people seen The Hobbit? I can imagine half-dwarf from an encounter with Thorin, Killi, Filli etc

Back to the core... After reading DM Nephilim post and watching the vote percentage I see we are split in half almost.
Still, democracy wins I guess.
