Re: Adventuring party
My best times are 22 PM-7AM gmt weekdays and weekends. Weekends it works for me earlier too. I am fine with any party and can mule a few choice items of my own if that what it comes down to.

Well, OK. I have a halfling rogue/assassin (traps and lockpicking) that I can bring in who's a bit 'shady' herself. (NE) Dual dagger wielder. I'm usually on late, however. About 9:00 PST (-8 GMT) for about 3 or 4 hours.

Re: Adventuring party
My wife uses the login Xorena.
We are in UTC-8 (US pacific) time zone. Weekends are open all day and we'll work around it. I expect this will probably become a regular 4 hour event. I do get up at 5 am my time, so we won't want to play past about 8 pm on Sunday (0400 Monday GMT.)
A regular play group is exactly what we're looking for. The class makeup or group theme doesn't matter too much, but it needs to make sense and be group oriented.
So here's my wall of text detailing what we're looking for:
We'd really like to be with other people who are team players. We played MMOs as core members of a PvP team that spanned four MOOs from 2003 until 2013, when we got too busy to keep it up. We still keep in touch and just received a wedding invitation from one of the members a couple weeks ago. Over those years we developed a very serious team-first attitude that is probably more hardcore than most people are accustomed to. Anyone who came to the group asking if there was room for their whatever, instead of what does the group want, never became a core member. It wasn't that they weren't given a real chance, they just never developed a group-first attitude.
So if being a member of a group first, and an individual second, appeals to you, and you have compatible play times, then we'd love to group up with three other like-minded individuals. No offense to the people who are looking for a place to level their latest power solo build, it's just we have different attitudes towards group-play. If you already have an entire group in mind, instead of just one character, then you likely have the same attitude we have.
I want a maximum group size of five core members, since the maximum party size here is six. In the past we had a full group worth of core members. When someone was absent we'd take a sub, and then when the member showed we faced the awkward position of kicking the sub or not having a spot for the core member.
I'd prefer to start simple. Like: fighter, cleric, rogue, wizard, and bard. Mostly Human, with maybe a Demi-human or two, but nothing that's supposed to be unusual like a Plane-touched or a Half-orc. If I were at some tavern trying to recruit adventurers that's the sort of group I'd want to end up with, not a "team" of five self-buffing melee builds. After we die or retire then we start new characters and try something more interesting, like a group of Thayans or Drow. I'd be fine with an interesting group right from the start, as long as it makes sense.
My problem with muling is that equipment acquisition is half the fun of the game and muling ruins it. I can't get excited about finding a new sword when I've already got the best stuff available. If you think becoming powerful is fun, and being powerful is boring, then we are of like mind.
I'd prefer to play hardcore. I'm quite willing to give in on this point as I don't expect many people are willing to face losing their character, but if there's three other people who also want to play hardcore we're set.

Re: Adventuring party
My playtimes can be 11am GMT (or 9pm GMT+10) until around 1pm or 2pm. I don't really mind what type of character I play, I did have a few ideas but I'll play whatever fits. For a situation like this I am against muling items. I think some of khaevil's ideas are sound, maybe groups of pc's could have common themes (e.g. all Thayans, etc). That way they have a solid reason to be together.

Re: Adventuring party
Alright, I'm going to make a cutoff here because we're on a 3 group cap and I honestly couldn't handle coming up with stuff for four groups. Three might be a stretch already.
No muling peeps are: khaevil, Xorena, Darraljod, AC81, freekender and Theodore1. It would be great if you guys could group up, however there are conflicts in playtimes (Darraljod, AC81 and Freekinder) and Theodore1 has not stated the time he plays yet. Also khaevil has expressed the wish to play in a party of 5.
Muling people are: mrm3ntalist and OXHawkeXO
Group examples:
Group 1: mrm3ntalist, OXHawkeXO, chad878262, Lanzlo, mixafix, RagingPeace - muling group (if no one has a problem with it), you guys could play during weekdays, maybe even on a weekend here and there when chad878262 is able to.
Group 2: khaevil, Xorena, Darraljod, Thorsson, Young Werther, aaron22 - no muling group (if Thorsson, Young Werther and aaron22 are ok with it). You guys could play on Saturdays 20:00gmt onwards. Unfortunately it's 6 people instead of 5, as khaevil wanted.
Group 3: Theodore1, AC81, Kiran, freekender, TheLier - depending on Theodore1 (and the flexibility of Kiran and TheLier on weekends) you guys could potentially play 12:00-14:00 on weekends? This would also be a no muling group if everyone is okay with it.
Any thoughts? I made a list of players and their playtimes in the first post of this thread. You should treat the above groups as examples and suggestions from me, ideally you should form your own groups now that we have a list of players available.
As for party ideas, I agree with khaevil and ac81. It would be neat if you guys could come up with your themes.

Re: Adventuring party
Well, honestly, coming up with groups puts a lot of pressure on me seeing as I might end up having to tell some folks that I can't find room for them. So treat those three in my previous post as nothing but suggestions. Ideally you guys should make your own groups, I did most of the work for you by making the list of players with their playtimes.
Also, if any other player wants to "get in on this" in the role of a "questgiver" pm me! This has gotten a bit much for me to handle on my own.

Re: Adventuring party
If anybody is interested I may be doing a dm event and I may need more people to join in. Players who are around the low lvl range (lvl 1-10) are welcome to join. Just send me a pm. I would prefer characters who are at least good or neutral alignment to join in.

Re: Adventuring party
I don't bother playing on a muling group, if that can aid to "fit" the groups. I think the main problem could be the different playtimes, but maybe some scheduled meetings can be planned via the forums (?). Sometimes it's difficult to organize so many people but, that's the main good point too!
Going back to my char... I've been thinking about his behaviour and the idea that fits him better is a somewhat mad hin but at the same time a bit childish. I haven't decide yet the final alignment (possibly CE), the god he worships (possibly Bhaal, Bane or Beshaba) and the name (the most sure is he will use a nickname, not his "real" name). I have a general idea of the background and behaviour, but it's what I use to do with my chars, I know where I will lead them when I start to play/RP them. It may be similar to Lanzlo's char but, hey, two shady hin assassins means the Sword Coast will tremble in panic!

That's fine. I don't mind muling. I don't have much to mule over to Dram (my thief) but I do what I can. Whenever you're ready.

Re: Adventuring party
Just a word of caution just to avoid confusion:
Its ok for players to send other players on quests. I believe it can lead to great RP between players and that is a positive.
However, do not involve or use NPCs while doing this. This is still considered god-modding NPCs and is a violation of that rule.
I will also add that these quests not be called "dm events", because they are not "dm events". They are "player initiatives". When you call it a dm event, people not in the know will think its being run by a DM. They are not and it should be noted, which I believe was done in an earlier post in this thread but I have stated it again.
Carry on with your planning folks, and have fun.

Yes. I shall do what I can to make life more interesting for your party, but ultimately I am just supporting a player initiative here. I am not running it or overseeing it.

Re: Adventuring party
Happy with the predicted times, and appreciate the work in laying out potential groups. New player with no issues or preferences so happy to fit in where can. RP first is my motto.
Made no comment on muling, and still have to look up what is acceptable. Seems there must be some RP value in selling things. But keeping it simple so far I take my share, and sell and buy via the traders in game. I generally speaking agree with the keeping players hungry makes things more valuable and fun theory.
Getting a steady group though - with space to meet someone now and then is good idea too. So game on it seems - perhaps laying out suggested levels, and any theme for each group might be appropriate.
currently have Druid N (10) and Monk LG (5) - happy to create new pc to fit theme etc or work on level so keen to outline this early.
elsewhere tried gang of thieves, deity based order, family, single class based organisation, or anything else might be good?

Re: Adventuring party
I confess that I mucked up my GMT times (but only by an hour), because we just changed to Summer time. I'll be available from around 1900GMT, not 2000, most days, generally earlier at weekends and at additional (earlier) times, but not around 1500-1800.
Did we agree that we were starting at level 1 or 5-10? I don't care either way, I'd just like to know if Gon needs levelling or not. I have nothing special to mule so I don't care about that either. What is not up for debate is that Gon is a Wood Elf CN Bard. A rather fine looking Wood Elf and a rather talented Bard, even if he does say so himself.
