I'm going to chime in and say that I support removing restrictions unless we find something that is a major issue in QC that would warrant leaving some. Several additions should not be much of a over powered new set of combos.

Honestly,

Power gamers will find that ultimate combo to unbalance things.

The community should be on the lookout, and if such a class combo is found, treat it like Monk and Druid....

So open it up, but leave a very clear message that it is subject to change/modification.

If you want to know if a weapon will survive combat... put it in the hands of privates.

It sounds like we'll be removing the restrictions. Duster47 is away for a couple weeks, however, so this will not happen in game right away.

Thank you for the response Maecius! I did not know it was a mechanical limitation. Are DMs able to grant the feat in the mean time?

Hiss. Boo.

Another Quality Control "failure".

Obviously any desicion is not universally accepted.

Speaking about a failed desicion without expanding on that, is the easy thing to say.

Well multiclassing with duelist/invis blade could be good... then add some palemaster. Hmm.

True.

So as it seems, Archmage from "source" does not preclude multiclassing, so that is just that.

But the IDEA of being an Archmage was one that specialized in Magic, and deterring one's study to take up the Skills of another non-magic focused Class/PrC, in my humble opinion, goes against the spirit of an Archmage.

But oh well...these are New Rules we are now allowed to play in. Game on!

How is that a problem? Mechanically this will result in a subpar build. The AM prereqs make certain of that.

Steve, you can make a wizard with 11INT. That goes against the common spirit of a wizard as well. The most important thing is the RP supporting your character concept.

Idk. Go 7 cleric with a strength domain. That'd teach 'em not to mess with gishes. I actually like this change and don't want it reverted.

Sure...but I thought we were talking about Archmage:

" Its most advanced practitioners are frequently archmages, persons who can weave spells in ways unimaginable to other spellcasters. "

"Most archmages are pure wizards or sorcerers rarely multiclassed, choosing instead to concentrate on perfecting their arcane skills.

"Their pursuit of arcane excellence and their familiarity with High Arcana places them above most of their peers."
