It was a desicion. Of course there is a chance for any desicion to be the wrong one. However, this is what we will be going with.

Its a pretty indefensible decision considering you seem to be going the long way around to 'improve' the class despite the most effective single balancing change you could make being right in front of you and mandated by not one, not two, but THREE follow up editions.

All that effort and you could have achieved the same, or better effects, with one change. Seems almost futile, given that you can't even argue that paladins in that case would become heavier casters seeing as:

A - their spell casting is capped at a very low rank
B - they have practically no offensive spell casting and not much in the way of defensive spell casting either
C - nearly all offensive spell casting they have is at short range
D - virtually all useful paladin builds are either EDM or Great Smiters, neither of which gain a substantial bonus from being able to spam Cure Lesser Wounds. All of which have reasonable charisma
E - paladins basically can't use roleplay spells if they plan to do anything because there simply aren't enough spell slots

I can't imagine why you would leave a class in MAD when you could afford to change it with little real effect on the balance of the server. I genuinely can't think of a reason why you wouldn't change this other than itemization.

Because of this. With the different kits the plan is to have other useful paladin builds, even noncasters/nonEDM/nonSmiters.

There will be a kit that will have the same effect as switching from WIS to CHA.

It only needs patience to see the actual kits. Then we can talk whether it was the wrong desicion or not.

Well, in that case, I will wait and see :)

Thanks for being patient with me.

The kits are super neat. But they're still in the developmental stage, so it won't be a "this will be released tomorrow" item like the forthcoming man-at-arms fix or the warlock retributive invisibility fix that are both already in the pipeline.

I think they will be a neat feature for paladins to explore though, and really add to the variety of the class's roleplayability.

For now, I am going to move this thread to the Closed Issues forum, since a decision has been rendered. If conversation continues to be lively, I can always move it back to the live forums.

Good to see that the kits will be coming! Always good to have some variety in this class!
