Oh, side note too. My toon is an assassin. Why can't I speak assassin? It's on the list. :p
No, UD characters do not automatically get undercommon. I tried to speak undercommon to several groups of UDers during my time here and only one person understood me. It's led to some unfortunate stabbings (mostly of my toon). :)

Yeah, though technically all the characters in the Underdark speak Undercommon whenever they don't use the Voice command window to pick another language.

Just as surfacers speak Common whenever they don't use the command window to do otherwise.

Would be lovely if that could be scripted somehow, but I doubt it's possible
That would prevent surfacers from running around and understanding everything that's being said in the Underdark without the appropriate languages - and vice versa on the surface, just imagine how much more appropriately difficult it would be for disguised players both up and down.

I have a bit of experience with script code, and it actually is quite possible to achieve it. I'm just not sure how willing the DM's would be willing to go to do it. It could work almost like the bottom left chat ticks, but slightly different. Like whenever you go to a translation site for an actual language. For instance. If you go to a English/spanish translation site, you can have it translate either way. You tick spanish to english. Type in something like. (Mucho grande gato rojo en me pantalones azul!) and it automatically translates to the other side of the page, (There is a very big red cat in my blue pants.) ((Didn't actually translate on a site, savvy with spanish. :P Just an example.)) It could be integrated into the normal chat box, instead of at the top of the screen, and it could be done with a number of ways. The thing is though, how many lines of code, changes, bugs, and other factors would affect such a thing, or if the DM's even deem it something that would benefit the server overall.

Many fixes and new languages are a-coming. Also many languages will use cannon words now wherever possible instead of the cypher.

Like, instead of Tyhukera meaning dragon in draconic, we'll get Darastix?

Same for the elven, we'd get Tel'Quessir for elf?

*Canon word.

Canon means Maisntream, official or otherwise accepted by the author of sth

Example of canons:
Star wars episode 1,2,3,4,5,6

Example of half-canons:

Star wars Jedi Knight 1-3

Example of non-canon:

Forgot the name of the star wars comic, but basically it shows a What If scenario of the Canon episodes.

Canon words:

Found in FR novels, source books etc.

Also: WHen it goes live - don't be schocked if some words don't match FR Canon. We can change that to fit very easily if we know the right words. Some elvish words are from Tolkien for example *SHHH*
