Seriously another Gish??? You people are crazy...

We should add PRC's that allow interesting class combinations, not another PRC that makes a great build even better.

We don't have a proper divine rogue PRC, we lack PRC's for non-HIPS archers, we lack PRC's for Swashbucklers, we lack PRC's for Spirit Shamans, we lack PRC's for Monks, we lack PRC's for Rangers, we lack PRC's for Warlocks...

And you vote for another Gish when one was released like a week ago???

Someone stop this madness....

Regarding song of celerity the spell is discharged only when an attack connects. If you roll a 1 or your opponent has epic dodge the spell remains in the sword until you strike true.

Anyway I don't mind doing another gish class ... after a bunch of things ... but one that is different and not a clone of bladesinger abilities.

But why not? Is it so that Bladesinger remains specialized for a Race (+half-race)? Or simply being a not-interesting-for-a-Scripter-to-do kinda thing? I mean, if you didn't want to do it, then yeah, not going to happen (your desires are the gateway for things getting done, and I respect that).

I just would like to know straight if the decision is personal, or because the Server objective Standard goes against a PrC like this (as in, it's too strong like a Bard or FvS and the Server is not adding any more Classes of those power levels). Cheers.

I don't understand the appeal of a copycat PrC, it's simply my personal opinion. It can obviously be tweaked down some and be done.

The appeal is: magic sword casting non-elf. Sure, if something more awesome than that is on the agenda, then great! So...what is it?

The Spellsword is a more generic melee mage PrC, that focuses spellpower into a weapon. It's appeal is just a solid as Bladesinger!!

I have no problem with a "magic sword casting non-elf", it's the "exact same abilities" that bother me. If it's already done somewhere all the appeal is lost, there is no novelty.

If someone wants to do the research, one thing I would like to see is a more abjuration/evocation focused gish... In 5e Eldritch Knight is a really cool concept that they actually focus on defensive magic as well as blasting spells. Might be cool to make a 'sword mage' PRC that has something similar to the Archmages Arcane Fire ability. Perhaps some ability that makes the class do better by alternating magic damage with sword play, like + X damage for 1-4 rounds after an enemy has been damaged by a spell or something like that.

I like Chad's idea, and if one combined it with Monty's, this could work out to something special.

I'd just hope that someone more Lored-up than me could find a canon PrC to base it on.

Though an Arch-Eldritch-Knight concept is pretty great.

And...now that I think about it, how about a Knight of the Mystic Fire?
Of course the problem there, again, is serious RP limitation (not now Race, but base Class and Alignment).

yes, give spellcasting CL to Black Flame Zealot please ;)

Okay, the thought occurred to me to recycle a past suggestion in order to provide greater possibilities of a "Spellsword," without making new Classes/PrCs. That is: allow Spellpower feats to be open to take on any Caster-forwarding Class/PrC.

That way, a build like Wiz 5 / Swash 5 / EK 10 / Dragonslayer 10 could achieve better sword fighting AB/DMG, and achieve a CL of 26, or higher, should Spellpowers be extended to IV–VI, for example.

Either that, or bring the Dispel levels back down to Vanilla NWN2. Either way, the biggest hindrance to a Gish now, imho, is CL vs Dispels.

So with all the melee Classes/PrCs already available, this idea above could unleash a variety of styles.

So... since the topic starter has gone off to the off-topic rails... I suppose I could throw some PRC suggestion just for the heck of it. But before I do.... there is something to comment:

If Divine Seeker gets the divine caster progression, it is pretty solid, and currently a Rogue/Cleric/Blackflame Zealot/Hierophant build is a possibility as you can reach the caster level of 30... Rogue 4/Cleric 26 works too.

Non-hips archers? Elemental Archer? Arcane Archer? Order of the bow Initiate? Archers are squishy and often go for high dexterity which makes HiPS seem a pretty solid idea with the rather dodgy AC. But I have been thinking about a PRC called 'Master Archer' that would be pretty much a Weapon Master for a ranged characters, and the description would mention 'Master Slinger, Master Crossbower, or Master Thrower...'

As for PRCs for Spirit Shamans... Have you looked at Hospitaler? Blackguard?

As for PRCs for Monks - some were under work but monk abilities were bit buggy so I guess those are coming out as class variants eventually. Who knows, correct me if I am wrong.

As for PRCs for Rangers - Well, we have assassin, arcane archer, stormsinger, stormlord... etc. Oooh... Bard/Ranger/Stormsinger... *Begins to think of the numbers ands starts to laugh like a madman.*

AS for PRCs for Warlocks... There is the Hellfire lock... And Daggerspell mage and hopefully they toss away the alignment restrictions.

The dream of melding magic and weaponplay is fulfilled in the person of the Spellsword. But their choice of weapon is not limited to swords. Spellsword feats: At every even level the Spellsword learns a new way to make use of his martial prowess and arcane might.

You can take this feat once per energy type and use them in conjuction with each other as long as you have memorised enough spells to use them.
