I would not say that. For them they can at least say their PC was away on hiatus training somewhere else. For the RP XP it is and very much always has been talking to learn something that really needed Practical application to truly learn. It is the age old question of who would you rather have a bookworm or a person who has done it.....I take the person with practical application in the spot every time over the person who once read about doing it....Hypothetically speaking of course since you know we are talking about something that is OOC in nature anyway in XP.......I mean if we want to look at it from the standpoint of XP being purely OOC in the first place what does it matter how you get it?

I would also say you missed the point that has been said again and again.

THEY ARE AWARE IT IS BROKEN AND ARE FIXING IT!!!

All they were trying to do was bring down the 60-70 XP pops that could happen and they did. I had some myself. To like 50 or so more often....MORE OFTEN. For a more satisfying RP experience of seeing dem 50s roll while talking! Or 34 or 26 or whatever it is for your level! :D

For a wizard, theory IS practice. Their power improves at the drawing board where they take a spell and redesign it to be less wasteful or more accurate etc. The only thing combat provides a mage is a "testing ground" to see if their developments improved, or to improve their concentration and focus in stressful environments. In terms of raw power, it's the bookworm who wins.

In Eternia Roleplay, there's a number of admins who review RP logs and award XP based on them. The only way to get to high level is to have RP logs proving your magical research, training with sword etc. Whacking monsters doesn't get you far, maybe a bit of a boost to your stats.

You can only learn new abilities, spells with RP points though.
For a wizard theory is not practice. They have to get every hand movement and incantation just right. One little movement right or left wrong and POOF BANG BOOM SPELL FAILURE! One little syllable in the wrong place and you guessed it! POOF BANG BOOM SPELL FAILURE So just theorizing about the movement is not going to net them new spells. Also to improve a spell and make new ones there will be many many practical applications of trying the spell and failures before it is right.. So sorry there Hoihe this is just flat wrong from any premise you are arguing.

This is not Eternia. Nor will it ever be.

But its fine as this is a med rp server and xp gained is all over the place with fishing questing and the few other things we do to gain levels.

After you learn to cast your first few spells in a circle, incantation and somatics become second nature of that complexity. What's left is analyzing that spell and finding that component that causes excessive complexity here, the one that doesn't properly apply energy there, the one that has no reason to exist. And you perfect your spells by studying your spellbook. Test it a few times to check if the new methods improve duration, damage, or make it harder to resist.

all this went in unintended ways. im saying that if the RP ticks are too small and too infrequent the RP motivated may lose motivation. that is a large group of people. they lose motivation to RP and you could lose alot of players. im purposely using may and could. perhaps smaller more frequent ticks will make RP more satisfying. to say you dont think RP xp is necessary is cutting the thought that this is not skinner's box and is not seeing the writing all over the walls. there is zero value in the threats of leaving. there is value in actual numbers.

I do not think making new spells is as easy as just combining the principles. Knowing those and having mastered their somatics and hand movements just means you understand the nature of the spell you command. It has nothing to do with the next spell up or new spells. Those all take creation and or again practical application to get right. Only Favored Souls and Sorcerers really work from straight theory and just will the spell.........In fact they are not even really sure how they are doing it. They just do. So if you are going to argue the theory fact then I think those would be easier platforms from which to present your argument. Wizards are not it. They need years of practical application and more prac app to create new spells too.

Trust in Calodan, Hoihe and some others (yes I look at you Mentalist) to derail a thread about rp xp.

Could we lock this please. I think the horse is dead by now.

The thread was already dead. It was already stated that the broken issues of it were indeed noticed and were being addressed.....I just chimed in on other things already being said.....However I have no issue being labeled. I do it to others! :o :P

Sounds good to me.

Staff has said it is being worked on, and that there shouldn't be RP XP on this type of game. Sounds like the OP has been answered and is off track.

If there are reports of new bugs, open a new topic.

To correct, this is being looked into. But there is currently no intention (on staff) to remove the RP XP system from the game.
