Augment Form

For the duration, the character’s base attack bonus becomes medium (unless its already higher) but cannot exceed the character’s HD.

Now, according to other BAB Medium builds, you should get two attacks per round at level 8.

Then three attacks per round at level 15.

Four attacks per round at level 22.

Five attacks per round at level 28.

My problem is that I took the feat at level 12 and had two attacks per round.

The same Character is now level 17, and still two attacks per round.

Is there something wrong with the feat in action, or is it my interpretation of the feat?

Thanks.

BAB is calculated per class. A(5)/B(5) = 6 ; A(10) = 7

This is the table.

If we are supposed to get Medium BAB progression (with high counting as high of course), then at level 17 a mage should have 3 attacks per round while polymorphed with the feat. Is this not the case?

it's an item that preserves your primary casting stat and bonus spell slots from gear so it doesn't mess up your spell count/memorised spells.

It's entirely passive.

What is your class split at level 17?

Sorcerer/Harper Mage/Thaumaturge/Dragon Disciple

All Low BAB.

Which should be given a medium BAB as per the Augment Form feat.

Yes, each will be converted to medium BAB progression. You didn’t give me the class split but I will assume something like 6/5/5/1 which will give you 4+3+3+0 = 10 BAB.

Wait, so it doesn't take the total number and converts it into BAB?

This makes the feat about as useful as a sleep spell versus an elf.

I am going to suggest to be far more specific with the feat, as one can save themselves 2 feats to their build to go elsewhere.

You kidding? If you were doing a shapechange focused build, what other feat would you be able to take and gain such an increase in your BAB with?

My own experimental build is 13/10/7 wizard/eldritch knight/dragonslayer, and will end up with +26 BAB while in a shape if my math is correct. Going from 6 BAB to 9 BAB on the wizard levels. A gain of +3 BAB (not just AB) for one feat. That's pretty huge imo.

Even by the example class split Dedude offered, that's also a gain of +3 BAB. Useful as a sleep spell on an elf? Methinks you're overreacting.

As always, the reaction lays in not being informed of the real calculations when changes or content is implemented, and thus possibly messing up an RCR (and losing XP in the end).

I disagree. I believe the reaction is warranted.

Yes, if you take the high BAB it does help.

If you go pure wizard etc, it's good.

If you take a number of classes where the math screws you over, not so good.

I have a wizard that does fine shapeshifted with no supportive feats. He is level 20. My level 17 sorcerer is supposed to be having 3 attacks per round which would make things more effective. But the math isn't calculated the way the feat describes and I am ok with that.

It just needs to be spelled out with a second example of two low Bab classes coming out to an odd number because of how the split is determined.

To get most out of the Augment Form feat, you need to have your levels in a low BAB progression class divisible by four. For example 4 levels gets you 3 BAB, 8 gets you 6 BAB, 12 gets you 8 BAB, and so on.

Currently that Sorcerer 10/Harper Mage 5/Thaumaturge 5/Dragon Disciple 10 build gets BAB of 20 with Augment Form. It is +6 BAB over what you would get without it. I would feel tempted to lower Harper Mage and Thaumaturge to 4 just in order to get +2 levels of Sorcerer. This way the build would get 21 BAB. But you will lose your spell focus, and cohort.

Thanks.

With my level breakdown, it really would not be worthwhile having for my build. The 20 BAB would only net me 1 extra attack per round, for two feats.

That is a personal opinion of course, but would have required me to take a harder look at my build breakdown before I started.

I still would like that math breakdown be explained for two different low BAB classes to show how it would be calculated. So that the understanding is more clear.

Thanks for the explanation. I do appreciate it. And yes, will probably require a RCR to make the most out of those two feats.
