Alas uninformed opinion is still opinion. While there are Lolthite factions on the server, the whole paradigm that you describe is not what UD RP in Sshamath, at least, is about. Not unless you want to pursue that RP by joining one of the Lolthite factions.

How is Sshamath wrapped up in fetish? I don't get it.

The classic Drow attire, of course!!
Who wudda thought the UD was that warm?!?
But then again, even the Surface appears to be, now and then, a bad day at Ibiza Spring Break!

No real discouragement here, it's where I started and I love me the Drow.
As for those stating about the words and such there is a post on them also it never hurts to ask. You don't need to memorize and you can type normal. Or make use of the Undercommon Language box, or just speak common. No one is making you use the language, yes others do use it but a quick look up at the link below or a simple tell to the one using it ever hurts!

If I am the one doing just send me a tell I would be happy to clarify anything!

My drow:
Join Bregan! So anti-erp, you'd need a can opener to try!

You trying to tell me that, under that armor, there is no candy-flavored thong and a ball-gag?!?

Right....
Lol. You're telling me you never typed "sexy drow" into Google's image search?!!?

Right. Aside from those...previous show-off posts of their kinky chars. Thank you for the opinions. Let's keep it up and keep it civil.
And yes, there are some drows that are hardcore RP (Lolth followers mainly), and there are those who are somewhat between in the middle like me, and obviously the grinders. If you need to know some words, I think you can just send a tell and ask what it means. I started going hardcore on some words that even some people are like...what? Nevertheless, it's voluntary. Also good website for drow words for those:

There is quite a hurdle in acquiring out of print books to understand their society and jumping over those hurdles just to have no one to roleplay with is... frankly a very counterintuitive thing to do. Oddly enough this is also why I haven't rolled a red wizard either.

I've never had anything happen like this surface or UD, but it (unfortunately) doesn't surprise me that it does happen. Really should report folks, especially if you politely decline IC or OOC and they badger you over it. That is unfair and there are other servers that support that kind of stuff, this isn't the place for it.
I'll admit I never reported, partly because I thought nobody would take it seriously. I've had players tell me "why are you playing a drow if you don't want that" and "you would get farther with my pc if you do x". Yes, this was on BG.

That is really crappy to hear, Xorena. Alas these things don't get stamped out if they don't get reported.

Apparently, this is not what Sshamath is about, so technically it shouldn't have happened according to your logic. Maybe they were just role playing a Llothite?

Believe me dude, it happens on the surface too.

Just as an FYI, there's a stickied thread in the Red Wizard private forums that has copy pastes or summaries of all the most important need-to-know lore bits. So if you ever do find yourself wanting to, don't worry about not having access to the books.
