Just chiming in with my approach. I only put simple details in normal examine --- dark-haired, red-eyed, half-elf, eastern Faerûnian features, the way she carries herself, etc --- so people who glance there and ignore conditional examine can still get the gist of my character. I tried to keep it brief because I understand that some players don't want to read a lot of text.

Conditional examine has a more intricate description, and I wrote far more unconditional text in it than otherwise. I made it a point to keep the DCs 20 and under, and the things that are 20 are intentionally hidden details. 15-20 ranks in a skill is still a significant investment, and I feel it's important to be inclusive of lower level/skill rank players that are curious about your character. DC 40+ stuff is like fighting a god's avatar in pnp.

Barring changing the algorithm to account for skill bonuses, which would be preferable, is it possible to at least program the lore skill checks to account for a take 10? I love the system and I'm very appreciative of its implementation, but the lack of scaling skills is a bit of a hindrance.

That's pretty much it. Regular examine has raw data without conclusions, conditional examine comes with additional data and conclusions. I'll have to muck about with the DCs to account for it only counting spent skill ranks, though.

Does it at all take ability bonuses into consideration? I'm reasonably sure I made a spot check that I didn't have the ranks for but had the wisdom bonus to even it out.

I rather like the conditional examine. It's not always possible for me to read while DMing. However i have had an individual with a DM only conditional that inspired a prompt to event. So i imagine it was worth the time to fill out. I would ask but dead PC's can't talk. 0:) 0:) 0:)

Hm, I'm fairly sure I've seen some gear-required levels of DC's. Example being I have always been able to see that Gemma doesn't have hair follicles, whatever level of DC that was. . . I certainly think it was higher than the 33 amount of base-ranks I had.

I've also noticed seeing different stuff based on the gear I'm wearing, so it might be possible that it takes ranks from gear into account but maybe not bonuses from attributes? No idea.

I for the record LOVE conditional examine and always try and include stuff. I even had a DM only line but had to remove it due to character limit on the field.

Now I have to redo my description since I saw in a patch the limit was raised!

That was DC 50

(It was to detect that she's wearing a well-made wig)
