If the congratulatory birthday listings at the bottom of the BGtSCC main page were to be valid stat point to go by, it makes me feel young to have experienced the swap between 3rd and 3.5 edition during my middle-school days.
Anyways, as someone who has learned a good chunk of English from fantasy novels after moving to the States (I didn't even know 'blackguard' was actually pronounced 'blaggard' until my mid-20s, despite living here for the majority of my life now) I'd have to say that PG-13 and T ratings are a pretty novel invention. Fantasy novels haven't ever had any of those limitations, and I'd be completely truthful in saying that any and all of the content in the 'Game of Thrones' (mentioning them since they've hit mainstream attention in the past decade) novels is pretty tame in comparison to what had cropped up for a cloistered kid picking out books from their local library with sweet-lookin' dragons on the cover... twenty or so years ago.
Long story short, even if there are actually any kids here, doubt they're here from some confused misdirection ala the "im 12 how did i get here im not good with computer" meme. In the worst-case scenario, their innocence isn't going to be any more despoiled than that of someone with a library pass before the internet was a thing.

On that note, I may be misinformed on the topic, but I have heard it said that since GameSpy used to manage NWN2 server traffic, the 'T' rating was enforced on NWN2 servers due to service agreements with the company. That's no longer an issue (as of 2014) since the company was dissolved.
As someone who uses profanity as a point of punctuation IRL (thanks to a bit of service in the local military), regardless of any change in server policy, I don't actually see any of my characters' manners of speech changing regardless the end decision - player/character separation and all that.
