Osric makes another announcement:
Let it be known henceforth that Jak Dimburrow has been elevated to the position of Knight-Errant of House Vale. As Knight-Errant, Jak's work will take him primarily outside the city walls, offering alms to those in need, performing reconnaissance and representing House Vale to the public. We fully expect Jak will step into his new role with grace and poise. Thank you, Jak!

In the aftermath of the River Chionthar being flooded by saffron-colored poison, it is said that Rain Te'Vill of House Vale, aided by Sir Alexander Marshall of the Church of the Triad, rendered exemplary service to the city. Her quick thinking in shutting the sewer valves off from the corrupted waters saved the city and its people from significant harm. Rumors say that both heroes were delivered Writs of Service from the city as a reward for their noble efforts.

In the immediate aftermath of the collapse of the Weave in Baldur's Gate, Lord Osric Vale hosted a myriad of voices to investigate the anomaly and shore up the city's defenses. After the various guests departed, the lord spoke with those members of the Church of Mystra still sheltered within the Vale Estate and implored their aid to analyze the event. He further diverted some of House Vale's stone resources to bolster the Gate's walls and forward camps and made arrangements to visit the Seventh Legion.

Osric's favored horse Nimbus is said to have departed the estate on a scouting expedition. Curiously, the retinue with which it was taken did not include its lord and master.

Intrigued, April looked around the interior of the beautiful mansion to which she was led by the gnome Meredith (a splendid mage and a real hero of the Gate!). The walls covered with magnificent paintings, numerous sculptures and works of art. She hasn't seen something like that in a long time! Sometimes she wondered if it would be good to be so rich... "Oh, but we are rich," she thinking and looking at Meredith, her new friend, with a wide smile. "Why, we are young, and we're happy as queens, and we've all got imaginations, more or less. The sky, the sea... all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of gold coins and ropes of diamonds". Thoughtful, she did not have time to catch up with the others, who disappeared into one of the many rooms. Oh, well. She still had a great time looking into every corner anyway. Finally, she decided to give the owner a pleasant surprise. She added the pink paint she used to her drawings to one of the pools. Unfortunately, one of the servants noticed this and asked her to leave! Clearly, servants have a terrible sense of humor and cannot take a joke!

In the days after Osric returned to House Vale's estate to continue his recovery, the House saw a flurry of visitations and messengers. Those that keep their ear to the ground in the Palace District might learn that these messengers came armed with gifts of condolences, sympathies and well wishes, likely for Lord Vale's recently lost limb during the battle on Boarksyre Bridge. Among the gifts were:
  • three live peacocks,
  • confections from House Ostrin of the Chalice of Siamorphe,
  • a potted sunflower with a pink cord tied around its stem from Lady Brilla, wife of Duke Entar,
  • a bottle of Evermead from His Grace, Duke Belt,
  • a weirwood pipe from Lord Tosketh,
  • an elven lute from Lord Sashenstar,
  • a basket of green eggs,
  • a fine bathing set,
  • slabs of various meats,
  • a child-sized, marble statue of Sune,
  • a greatsword with a long and thin blade, and
  • a small showcase of preserved butterflies.
However, the most treasured gift of all came from the young scion of House Sellant. A boy of five years, Aldron Sellant delivered a crayon drawing of a puny man labeled "Lord Osric." While the drawing of the lord overall was quite wimpy and diminutive, one of his arms was in fact out-sized and massive in comparison with his body. This was labeled "SUPER GOLEM POWER ARM!" and accompanied by the message: "You will get a better arm!"

It is said Osric spent the better part of a day carefully dictating letters of gratitude and thanks to all who supplied gifts. To Aldron, he personally scribed a letter - no mean feat given the loss of his writing hand - of thanks for the warm spirit and cheer that the drawing gave him.

Some time later, Osric could be seen visiting the Temple of Gond, drawing of his Super Golem Power Arm in hand.

A raven arrived at dawn, announcing its presence by pecking at a downstairs window. It wore a harness with a scroll canister along the back. Once the enclosed message was received, the corvid departed south.

*The fire genasi member of House Vale could be seen returning to the estate.
Some time later his gleeful cheering could be heard, and anyone present within the main room, or sneaking a peek through the windows, would witness a masterfully crafted metal puzzle box spinning and projecting floating golden glitter and amber light as it played a delicate song.
Following this, the tune became rhythmic and complex as a display of starlight patterns floated throughout the room, the genasi smiling with excitement and watching in awe.
Not quite finished, the box then produced a brass lotus which rose out of it and opened with orange and gold petals lifting into the air and dancing in the image of a towering flame.
Once the show was over, the flower tucked itself back inside the box which opened to reveal a prize.

Word about the estate is that Teris the genasi is in a very good mood now and just can't stop smiling after his experience.*

Osric makes an announcement:
In recognition of his tireless efforts and going above and beyond his responsibilities as Quartermaster, Teris Ynarno is now granted the honorary title of Groundsmaster. Under his diligent care, the Vale Estate's gardens have thrived, particularly the precious redbud tree gifted to us by His Grace, Duke Belt. We thank Teris for his commendable, exemplary service!

Those who keep their ear to the ground in Baldur's Gate may hear that the Lord Mage of Waterdeep, Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun, visited the Vale Estate during his trip to Baldur's Gate. Together with representatives from prominent factions within and without the city (including Lord Aaron Lyonaler, Councillor Vanira, Knight-Commander Gaven Arkalis, and Chamberlain Oth Neren), a vigorous discussion was held behind closed doors. Despite parting amicably, it was said that Lord Vale was disappointed with the meeting's outcome.

A humble looking graying old man steps inside the Estate, looking most definitely lost and out of place. He smiles to the first to come by and nerveuosly, but politely hands him a rolled letter. He askes that it would be handed to person in charge if it was not too much trouble. He then leaves after a thank you.
