No seriously, rip me a new one.
I only interacted with Kagger once, on the bridge north of Beregost, but it was still a memorable exchange for Cranston. The half-orc with the symbol of Bane on his cloak calmly watching the little fish swimming under the bridge while the rain slowly drizzled down. Kagger is a conundrum wrapped in an enigma sir! :P Seriously though, I enjoyed our chat and found your RP line truly unique and enjoyable. :D

Also only interacted once or maybe twice, but I thought you played off the mercenary role well. I think you could be a bit more gruff in conversations, but again I haven't RP'd with you a lot and perhaps there is more background to his mannerisms I am simply not aware of.

While playing as a Gray Orc on Surface, I have noticed people have a wierd reaction on my character. I understand, that any RP dogmas are countered by player's desire to grind, but seriously, it IS looking weird.
I am talking about guys, who approach my 7ft tall Orc (even if he has almost-closed helmet) in black armor with something like "Hello, mate!". Would they approach a gorilla IRL with same words? I doubt. And Orcs are even worse, because Orc will rip your head off intentionally, rather then of some instinct. I know, every human wants to be "cool and cold-hearted calm guy with a bunch of sarcasm", but why no one treats Orc, like it IS an Orc: a brutal and savage creature, that can attack you at any moment, just for fun. I am not asking for Kill on Sight, i am just talking about proper attitude.

There are a few out there who will rp that fear/distrust/hostility, but unfortunately many will not unless you give them a reason to. My advice is to rp your characters reaction to the weak human/elf/whatever and demand tribute for not getting on their entrails (or some such).

I just throw out such threats, or do something, which cannot be ignored, or ignoring which will be considered as a hostile action :) So they have no choice, except for normal interaction.

Hi all!

New to server, not new to rp, and been enjoying reading the latest stuff around "fear and being nervous" on your character.

For those who have met my character, he's all of the above, and then some, but then again he used to work as a bartender, so of course he is scared of most things still, however some people out there go out of there way to slay the living dead, fight giants and dragons, so perhaps a half orc might not really terrify them or make them show respect as they kill that for breakfast... But to someone like old me, the local bartender turned awful mercenary, you are beyond terrifying and I will happily give you all my items to make you stop eating me or look at me funny in game.

But you cant make others see it that way is essentially my point as their characters are different and perhaps more "battle hardened"

Just my 2 cents!

I've witnessed said orc and partied with it for a few times even. Our first meeting in Cloakwoods was not ideal, because of reasons Shadowcryer stated (people I was with not used to orcs and\or not willing to RP meeting a dangerous specimen he is, not mentioning being occupied with another intense RP atm), also there is a problem of metagaiming - I couldn't help but assume this was orc, not half-orc or human. But my char supposedly seen enough of orcs, minotaur, etc. before, and could gauge its intentions enough to be able to party (it approaches with eloquent speech, not murderous grunts, and makes conversation). I hope this will continue, as this is a very interesting experience, that I may learn from, and RP orc relationships better:)

Kiran, my character is an Orc. Not a half-blooded, but a pure Gray Orc. Perhaps, they are not considered as bad as mountain ones, but only to players, who do not know about Orcgate wars.

burbles, your character has a few (spoiler avoid) reasons to travel with Orc.

I've been playing an aspiring (Thayan) Knight for the past few weeks named Boris Vyacheslav. Boris' character as I intend it is a 'roid raging brute - a bulldog on a choke chain. Dour, severe, and a "strong silent type". Doesn't generally bother with platitudes and often wont bother speaking at all when there is a Red Wizard to handle the social situation. But I try to temper that harsh/rude nature by occasional civilized encounters with those who he notices haven't condemned him for his nationality. I've also enjoyed including acts of service to guests within the Enclave and RP with MoV's player Yas which challenged his growth direction.

Getting into character has meant I've been learning Thayan lore, which is a continuing process! I feel I'm getting more and more consistent with him as I flesh him out by interacting with you all.

If anyone has some honest feedback / constructive criticism I would consider that helpful in directing Boris to become who he should be. Thanks in advance.

There are few. Some are obvious, some less obvious. Not with any orc, but with that particular "Kinslayer", it works. And no love for orcs, just familiarity.

Remember, due to people having an abundance of every race, they will act as the crowd does. Kagger, Half Orken, Roach, All given orcs a trusting name. The Kogans ended up going through a metagame phase so they may be trying to go lite on you.

I like what I see (and read) about Boris. He is portrayed as standing up for his masters. Even if it comes to rp conflict. Blind loyal dedication is hard to find... given not everyone likes conflict rp. Where he seems quick to anger if you defy his leaders... I do belive he has more depth then what (prehaps) you even yourself know yet :).

Either way.. keep it up! It's good with some "loyal" rp if you will :).

I've not noticed Boris as a 'roid-raging brute in what few times I've encountered him. He seemed a rather professional sort to me, which I liked. He might be quick to defend his masters, but that is his job. :)

I would like some critique of Tarina, now that I've been on the server awhile and had a chance to get involved with things. Specifically, I'd like to know how I'm doing in portraying her class, stats, and alignment. She's a shaman obviously, which I've tried to really focus on doing right. For stats and alignment, she's Lawful Neutral, 12 Int, 14(16) Wis, 12(14) Cha. After the update I'll be RCRing to grab some of the new spells and make some other changes, so I might adjust values based on how accurate people think the current ones are.

*Edit* Adjusted stats during RCR. Now 12 Int, 15(17) Wis, 12 Cha.

Just a suggestion (I have zero confidence this will go through and as a person) we consider a Question-and-Answer based interview for characters we are critiquing (of course, not all the questions must be answered).

Rough draft-y unserious example of how this fleshes out as a floatation cylinder of digital pleasure and education about whichever character is being questioned (I'm sure you will grasp the premise, naturally!):

What led to your character disbanding this guild?

What led to your character changing alignments for the third time in two years?

Was 27 RCRS really necessary?

How many times has your character murdered?

Does he have distinctive mannerisms, and any of those mannerisms have a back-story on their origination (such as a nervous tick or back spasms)?
****
You know, just normal questions like this perhaps a lot less hyperbolically-designed to be provocative and judgemental.
