THE BATTLE OF MINTARN
I arrived at the Fist Compound in the Docks district in Baldurs Gate followed closely by Knight General Gina, Knights Sir John, Sir William, and Sir Elias. We were soon joined by Captain Mealir Osteril and his crew. Once all arrived we were ushered into to meet with General Scar of the Fist. This is where we relayed our plan of attack upon the pirates of Mintarn. And the role the Fist would play into our plans. Our plan was this:
We would travel to Mintarn in two ships, one Captain Mealirs ship, the other a Fist Warship. Upon arriving under the cover of darkness, the warship would remain out at sea. While we, on Captain Mealirs ship, would search for a suitable landing spot on the Northern shore. Where we would disembark and travel just North of the town.
Find a suitable place, a cave or treeline, for us to remain hidden.
Two Scouts of Captain Mealirs choosing would infiltrate the town and and do reconassence. Finding the strengths and weaknesses of the Pirates, as well as the numbers we face.
Once they return and we have the necessary information, a sending would be sent as to when the Fist warship would blockade and attack from the sea, giving a diversion for us to attack from the North.
This was the plan, although this outline is a bit general, it is the one that was agreed too.
Once the plan was agreed too, we set sail.
During the Two days we were under Captain Mealirs hospitality aboard his ship. The sea's were mostly calm, save one small storm that we endured below deck. Hoihe tried to ease the idleness and seasicknes of some, by his singing of mariners' song of battle and Glory. Gliding upon the waves with us spending most of our time below deck.
The Captain took an indirect route as to avoid the usual shipping lanes, to avoid a chance sighting of any Piurate ships.
When were close to the Island, but not yet in sight of the island, an arrow was shot over to the Fist Warship, carrying the message for them to wait here. Which is where they dropped anchor. While we continued to the Northern shore. It is here we foiund a suitable landing sight, in a bay on the Northern shore. We disembarked, using rowboats to row ashore, Leaving Hoihe and another aboard ship to travel back to the Fist warship to ready for attack.
Our travel inland was fairly uneventful, only encountering a Lion pack along the way. Which one of our scouts lured away from our path as to not disturb them. We then followed the river inland, til we found a river crossing and road that lead straight to the town gates. it is here that several among us marked their teleport runes for a timely escape if it were needed.
Surveying the treeline we found a suitable cave for us to take sanctuary while the scouts infiltrated the town itself.
The scouts, a Miss Soora Luelles and Vendor Xon, left on their mission into the town, while we waited inside the cave. I had Sir William, Sir John, and Sir Elias explore the cave, while we waited inside the entrance for the scouts to return. After a long while I sent Lady Gina, to check on our knights progress. It is while she searched for them, she discovered another exit to the cave. Most fortunate discovery as it turns out, as this exit led right into the town itself. And would ultimately be the entrance we would use.
After many hours of waiting the scouts returned with the information we needed, as well as with a prisoner. They explain this Pirate with mace in hand, was chasing a young boy, and they had no choice but to subdue him. They extracted some information, I'm not sure if it was from their prisoner or from the young boy, but the prisoner was beaten severely. The information was that the leader, as was the main body of the pirates, were in the Town Hall. Which was near the Northern gates. Before leaving they asked the Boy to warn the residents, who were hiding in their house afraid of these pirates, that help was on the way and to remain in their houses while the battle ensues.
There was a discussion as what to do with the prisoner, First it was suggested to Break an arm or leg so he could not escape and warn his pirate friends. To which I refused Flatly with no uncertainly, which Sir Elias agreed, but once they saw the seriousness of my conviction it was agreed that he would be restrained by rope.
Word was sent to Hoihe by sending that the attack would commence in the early morning hours of Dawn. Firstly the Fist warship would move into place to blockaide the harbor and begin the attack. Which would give us the diversion to attack from the North. We proceeded to the cave exit which led directly into town.
Once the attack began we invaded. We met heavy resistance once we were in town, after one scirmish another quickly began. We methodically went thru the streets, putting down any resistance we met. which ultimately led us to the Town Hall. All the while the bombardment of the warships was invaluable to our cause.
Once inside the TownHall the fighting became more intense, with resistance round every corner. These inside the Town Hall were their captain's strongest fighters, his elite, if you will. Our Knights fought Long and hard here, many injuries were incurred. As well as with Captain Mealir and his men. We healed as we could and pressed forward. Until we met the captain of the Pirates, there was no discussion only swords flying in every direction. the Battle was intense.
But we prevailed and the Pirate Captain and all of his Pirates that we found have been dispatched. And Mintarn is safe and free from Tyranny once again.
We should send food and supplies to Mintarn to help them in their time of need in recovering.
