Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

An irritable-looking elf man wrapped in a brown cloak waltzes into the Shrine of Suffering as if he owns the place. Noting the, er, dilapidated state of the walls and floors in addition to peasants getting food from the kitchen, the elf grimaces and moves deeper into the sanctuary. Into the collection box he shoves a tightly-rolled stack of parchment with only "Brother Ameris Santraeger" written on it. "I am so sick of being that paladin's errand boy," he mutters to himself.

Upon leaving the church, the elf strides (more of a strut) out of the city and well away from the walls before casting a spell and disappearing on the spot.

Ameris returns to the temple, his tread heavy after a journey south. Seeing the look on the Sisters' faces he collects what post has been received and offers apology for his "urgent business south". He also asks whether the elf, Nea has been by, with a worried tone. As if he was a concerned child worried at being caught out after dark.

Then, he collects the parchments from the collection box, his eyes widen, and he heads upstairs to read privately.

Ameris has a long conversation with a gray-blue hued tiefling woman, first in the Chapel, then the Infirmary. They appear to part on good terms as he retires to the private areas for the clergy and she departs the temple.

A half hour later he descends, attired for travel, gathering supplies from the kitchen. He appears in haste. Explanation is offered to the other Adorned.

"Unto the anvil of duty Brother, Sisters. I will return as soon as I am able."

And with that, he departs.

Delia converses briefly with sister Rachel about simple tasks that require attention in the infirmary.

She begins to feed those hungry, and chatters with the ones needing humane attention. Finally she helps with some light cleaning, being careful not to wake the ones resting, after which she leaves the temple.

A white and yellow robed man enters the church an hour before dusk. With a warm smile on his lips he approaches Sister Adolina and asks for his friend Ameris. Sister Adolina can scarcely believe her own eyes as she notice who is calling for Ameris. The last few times she had laid eyes on this man, he had been in a poor emotional state. But no longer. After the initial surprise, Sister Adolina agrees to take a note from Morninglord Tolan to be delivered to Ameris at the earliest convenience.

In the early hours of the evening, a tall, darkly-clad man wearing a green cloak enters the Shrine of Ilmater. With the hood of his heavy cloak pulled up, little can be seen of his face except a silvery beard that lends to the look of an old beggar about the man. A few pointed questions are asked some of the sisters there about the whereabouts of one Brother Ameris Santraeger, but they are met with the information that Brother Ameris has left the temple on yet another journey.

The seemingly old man thanks the sisters and departs the temple, but stops just outside. So much for that. At least they did not seem to recognize me, he thinks to himself. Meri is right, my voice has altered due to that temple fire. The man's lips twist and turn for a few moments as he ponders, and he then sets off toward the East Gate. On to find one he knows will have some answers.

A sealed letter arrives at the Temple of Ilmater, and the missive is addressed to "Brother Ameris."

"Slow down, you're going too fast," the balding man complains, feet shuffling swiftly against the cobblestone path as he seeks to keep up to the younger, taller porter. Between them, the two men carry a large, nondescript wooden chest.

At the door to the sanctuary, the pair manage to make their way inside after a bit of maneuvering. "Oy, we've a delivery for an . . ." The older porter rifles around inside of his vest before locating an envelope. ". . . Ameris San . . . San . . ."

"For a bloke what named Ameris!"

The crate is stationed where directed, at which point the carriers note that they've a couple more back at the cart. Once all is said and done, though, the sanctuary would find itself in possession of two crates filled with warm, woolen blankets and one chest crammed with winter clothing. The letter addressed to Ameris is handed to whoever looks like they're in charge (or to Ameris himself if present).

The two men then wait around awkwardly for a few minutes, probably for a tip. Then they leave.

Ameris, tired looking, arrives in the temple after several days absence to check up on news. He shares words with the other clergy, and takes a warm meal. He collects the package which was delivered, perusing the contents with interest. He spends some time alone in the chapel, and more upstairs, in the private quarters of the Adorned.
