You sure were about to get a blast. You've set me to hostile. I was sweating not to click you by accident and bumped into Lilith walking round the table, nearly getting blasted myself by that

I've noticed a funny. Where did all those Lolth hating drow go to? Where's the stepping on spiders and pulling their legs out RP from characters that did not build any reputation around them and not wizards, hm?

Until the Wizards decide that enough is enough, people will probably walk around spiders. Clearly it is bad for your health to do otherwise. =)

they most likely started being more cautious and less cocky (read: soiling their pants) after someone remembered them that two seats in the conclave are currently occupied by lolthites...and that Bel'iira is one big mean mother****** you do not want to piss off.

Are Lolthites the true power behind the throne in Sshamath? No, they are not.

Are they a force to be reckoned with? Yes, they are. They may not be capable of toppling the Conclave (yet. Who knows for sure?), but sure as heck they have their power and influence.

Always remember that we're still in the UD, that I can be really wicked when it comes to representing its crapsack world theme, and that incidents can and will happen

What the lore says and 2 extras currently unless I am mistaken.

Extra Conclave seats in DR 1350:
+1 Seventh Circle Chaptermaster, Ilphryssin Arkentlar.
+1 Temple of Lolth, Bel'iira Sshamath.

Both due to occurances during the Alhoon War in DR 1347-8.
The Seventh Circle for fighting a prolonged campaign in the conclave's name from the slopes of Darkhold via Undrek Valanar to the end battle at Varalla's passage. Also successfully liaisoned with the Zhentarim in the defence of the city and the retaking of Darkhold, thus paving the way to open surface trade as was again.

The Temple for quite effectively ending the threat of the Alhoon and his war host at the very gates of Sshamath by summoning an avatar of Lolth onto the scene thus ending the conflict permanently.

There is more to be said but that is the short version.

The fall out from the war still affects the city as far as I know.

Lately, I am getting depressed whenever I see Underdark events. I feel they are made (ironically) without concern of normal NPC reaction. In fact, for first time, I have almost no wish to play on this server.

That's not a bug. It's a feature :)

I would absolutely encourage more players to take on a variety of drow roles. The Lolthites are definitely in vogue right now, but that doesn't mean you have to roll a Lolthite to have a good time in the Underdark.

I enjoyed my time in the Underdark precisely because of the variety of intrigue that we had going on down there at the time I was playing.

We had the School of Mages, the School of Necromancy, the Bregan D'aerthe, the Temple of Lolth, Wirg and Lampir's orc clan, and the many independents all vying for power and influence. It was extremely exciting, and, in my opinion, the height of drow roleplaying -- because it felt like every move you made was on some giant chessboard, and you were always being betrayed by your allies or out-witted by your rivals.

Those who complain that there's not enough political roleplay on the server probably haven't played in the Underdark during one of its active periods.

I would also encourage more DM engagement, to better fill out the Underdark's many exciting factions, and help establish more of the "power struggle" that is forever at the heart of any drow society outside of Llurth Dreier.

After all, keep in mind, especially for players maybe interested in starting up down there, that in the Underdark character level is less important than character cunning. After all, the words "loyal drow" are a bit of an oxymoron. Everyone can be turned. And a good manipulator can bring an entrenched power figure to their knees faster than a dozen quickened rays of enfeeblement!

I've been in the UD for a little over 2 months now, maybe closer to 3 and I'm liking it down there so far. My mindset have been mostly set on the typical drow city and political machinations, but with the help of Storm I've slowly adapted.

Phar seems to be finding his place in the constant powerstruggles, building alliances with some influential and recognizable characters while making a name for himself. While these alliances may or may not hold, just having established them in the first place have been great fun.

I don't know yet where Phar fits into the grander political schemes, but I'm hoping that others will help me find out through RP and forge ever more secret alliances for his own devilish plans
