My theory is this:

the DDOSing also coincides with the time school children get off school in the US (from what I've seen.) I think it's a kid that got banned for being a moron who then runs home every day from school to try to DDoS the server.

Also, you don't need a credit card to run a DDoS. That's why it's popular among script kiddies.

Myself and one other EU player have literally been blocked from playing at all as the server is down more than up when we try to log in

Anyway, it seems really strange to me that the first time I know the server going down because our good old "friend" out of the common schedule exactly machtes with a festivity in Spain. Call me paranoid if you want but, maybe this "friend" of us is Spanish?

Down it goes... as of 5 minutes ago(... and, of course, right after I had pondered the wisdom of taking the quest from the noble to get her bracelet, which will probably now be borked Typical).

It's been fixed. The kiddo only spawns when you approach the spot, not when taking the quest. It prompts you with "You hear a child's voice".

I heard a conspiracy theory which posits that perhaps the person doing this is a fan of nwn1 and wishes to make it impossible to play nwn2 online so everyone will be forced to go back to playing nwn1. There are many nwn1 fans who despise nwn2 and everyone who plays it and would love to see everyone forced back to nwn1 against their will. Course this being a conspiracy theory its legitimacy is questionable lol.

I don't know. I have 2 alts that the quest has been broken on for 3 or 4 months, both times it happened was when I got disconnected after taking it... or maybe I got DC'd after getting the bracelet I'll find out in several hours I guess!

I have a character where the quest is broken as well snarfy... the quest thinks he already has the bracelet, but he doesn't. Had a DM spawn Jeremy once, but couldn't talk to him, presumably because the game thinks he have the bracelet...

Why not have the DM spawn the quest item on you? Might circumvent it.

I just tried to sign in twice, connected to the server, but discovered all my characters were missing from the vault when prompted to select character. Is this a typical side effect of the attacks?
