Rumours of Baldur's Gate

*Rumors swirl that the relationship between the NTE and the Keepers of the Circle have improved...even finding new levels of cooperation after a meeting Beregost*

*Rumors also swirl that operatives of an unknown enemy of both factions might be responsible for the attacks*

*Keeper Galen'ael was heard saying in the Elf Song that if these beings are found, theirs deaths will be swift with no trail..no hesitation.*

*Rumors swirl around the city that while trading two fine bows to Lady Selah of the NTE, the Circles Ambassador gave more than he was supposed to to Lady Selah. The items were fine items, and the ones he got in return just as fine, some heard them speak of refugees who are afraid to return to their rebuilt homes in Nashkel because the Giant menance still remains.*

*The Ambassador, as people passed, was said to have an actual look of concern on his face and one of sympathy; two things rarely seen upon it for he said he had not been home in some time and missed his family dearly. He gave the startled Lady Selah 10,000 gp of his own personal coin to be used for the refugees*

*One farmer was over heard saying to another as they walked passed and out of ear shot of the NTE headmistresss and the Elf*

"Aye, a fine thing fer him ta do...but bein' who he is...She best not be makin' him regret it....now Chauncy ye been hearin' about this here Fire Creature upon the Tradeway?? The story goes it has an Elven Bodyguard and a more than kindly disposition...I swear the Prime is breakin' apart old boy...."

A Rumor spreads to Beregost and Baldurs Gate of an attack upon the Road outside CandleKeep.....

Two Fist Patrolmen, Arden and Davor were attacked by a dark mage; one slain, the other grivously wounded. Though the mens lives were saved by a Wood Elf as he came down the road witnessing the murder and assault of the Fist Patrol.

It is said the Elf looked upon the scene and immediately attacked the mage, nearly slaying him. The mage then fled and the Elf pursued, slaying the dark mage who was in the form of a Demon.

He then returned to the site of the attack; a broken body over one shoulder. He resurrected the slain Fist member and healed the other.

The body was turned over to the Fist; the wood elf saying he would testify at the mans trail and wised both men well...he departed to parts unknown...

Rumor says the Wood Elf bore a striking resemblence to Galena'el Glenstalker, Ambassador of the Circle.

Rumor has it that Lady Bleth assaulted an elven woman by the name of Elivani with a dagger in the Candlekeep Inn, run by sir Winthrope. Rumor has it that she left with a trade caravan heading for Cormyr, under armed escort. When asked about why the noblewoman would be sent that direction in such a way, the words 'Fire Knife' comes up, yet only a select few would know of the the words' collective meaning.

The merchant running the Seven Suns Trading Coster, though working up a sweat over this fiasco, continues to man the store as if nothing happened, though he does seem frustrated by the frequent queries.

Rumor has it Circle member and Ambassador Galen'ael Glenstalker was seen heading North on the roads torward the Silver Marches.

As he passed, some asked why he was leaving Baldurs Gate. Many he did not bothering answering. Some say he said from beneath his hood...

"A matter of Family business...and it has been long since I saw those I love....I'll return in due time."

As he traveled...a large Black Panther was spotted in the trees shadowing his every move...staying off the road as to not scare other travelers along the more civilized parts of the road......

Along the Trade Way and throughout Baldur's Gate, rumours fly of a bounty collected on. Ward Williamson, a sometime-caravan guard from Waterdeep, brought a pair of drow bodies into the city. Leaving them in a jumbled pile at the door of the Temple of Tempus for a few minutes of prayer, he then carried them on to their final destination - the headquarters of the Flaming Fist.

Ward was later seen to buy everyone a few rounds in various taverns throughout the city, the big man's mood unusually cheerful and his purse unusually full, at least at the start of the night...

The inestimable Ward Williamson returns to Baldur's Gate the next day, dragging the body of a black-clothed elven woman. "Bandit!" he replies cheerfully if asked, as he proceeds to the Flaming Fist headquarters. "Tried to rob me right out Black Dragon Gate. Mess with the bull, get the horns, hey?"

*Rumors spread of Galen's return, one man heard to ask him as he walked into the City, a weary, but serene look upon his face*

"Now how'd ye git back 'ere so fast...Mr. Galen?"

"I traveled the root systems of the trees...as Druid are adept to do...quite faster than walking...a family member passed...but he rests in Avarandor..at true peace...a long life...was good to see my Kin..."

*he smirks a bit, not seeming as moody as he was recently, as if he's more pleasant and refreshed*

*The man said his tone was calm and serene and couldn't tell if he serious or not. As Galen passed the gentlemen with a polite nod they didn't speak again till he rounded a corner*

"Now Chauncey...those druids be strange...I wonder if'n he was serious..."*he chews on a piece of straw thoughtful like*

"Meh, me friend...I'd prefer not ta know...somethin' about one's tone and the way 'e walks makes me shiver a bit...me thinks I'd rather not know...his type...who knows...who knows........"

*his voice trails off as he chuckles as he goes back to his work, but can't help but wonder himself*

Word spreads quickly throughout the populace that the Wyndsoul brothers have been knighted and given the land and titles of nobles within Baldurian nobility. Their "Tolerance is Treason" campaign was listed as a major contributing factor, but also the history of the Wyndsoul name in the Gate as well as the generosity of both brothers.

Talk emerges from the Palace District that the White Mask Theater has been bustling with activity all day. People have been toting decorations, gifts, food, drinks, musical instruments, and an assortment of other items that can only mean one thing - a wedding!

It is said that the wedding between Selis Vhaire and Zein Milu will take place in a matter of hours. It is also said that everyone is invited to attend the celebration.

Some speak of having seen Ambassador Galen'ael leaving the Shelf of Many books at all times of the night; carrying bottles of ink and many pieces of parchment back and forth.

At times, Elven swears are heard coming from the building in the dead of night and pieces of parchment being thrown out the window; half written upon with mark outs and errors upon them.

Some of the discarded pieces of paper read in broken/crossed out phrases..."The Council of Allies..."..."The Horn of Balduran..." and other names crossed out.

A single candle burns well into the night from a window near the street in the Palace district as the Ambassador works on his proposal to the Dukes...some marking it has been long since all the Allies last meant and some say he was to attend the wedding of a close friend, though his work must be seen to.

As the sun rises high above the Palace District, Galen is seen still in his seat...pen in hand...deep in thought...and piles of crumbled up paper at his feat are viewable through the window.

Rumor speaks of Galen'ael leaving the Shelf of Many Books this morning looking weary but relieved. He was seen attaching numerous letters bearing his Circles Seal to messenger birds and sending them aloft as the sun rose high above Istari Tower.

Word spreads quickly around the city of Baldur's Gate that Jonas and Alistaria Rokranon, with little Inara Selis in hand, have been seen selling many of their accumulated possessions from their apartment in Istari tower. Last reports put them in the docks district where they were overheard booking passage to Waterdeep.

A ridiculous-looking small figure in full plate and a huge sword trailing behind him could be seen making his way to the Rokranon residence. Those that heard him speak remember that for such a small person, his voice was booming.
