To all the Dukes
I hope this letter finds you all in good health my lords. I have long taken an interest in the affairs of Baldurs Gate and the surrounding regions. It has been sometime since I last treaded the paths of this region and I am glad to see your influence has grown and that you have done wonderful things for the peace, stablity and prosperity of your people. I send this letter on behalf of the Lathanderan temple in Beregost. I have been discussing the possabilty for a day of revelry in Beregost, known as a faire. A faire typically has games and food, music and dancing and all manner of fun activties for those in attendance to enjoy. The dark nights seem bleaker then I have ever seen them and it would be good not only for the health and morale of the region but a boon to economic prosperity as well. I am in the process of seeking out people to assist in the creation of this faire, such as entertainers and cooks and anyone else who thinks they have something to lend to this joyous occasion.
I write to you today to request a meeting to discuss the possibility of a detachment of soldiers to oversee and enforce the well being of those running, and attending the faire as so many people presents a prime target for those who seek malevolent goals. The temple and the council of Dukes have long stood in council and support of each other and I hope that arrangement still exists. I look forward to your reply, may you always have your health and prosperity.
Davian Halren
Grand Monkof the Radiant Fist
Former Warden of Beregost

*Adressed to Duke Eltan*
Lord General
Firstly in what is a troubled time in my life I must thank yourself, and the Officers you have appointed within The Fist. Without the code of conduct, and honor I learned there I would have fallen apart long ago.
I understand the council allowing The Red Wizard Enclave back into our city, we are based on a trade, and their gold will be welcomed if not needed. However given past encounters with this "order" I have forward a request from The Living Saint of Ilmater, and if required I will put forth a petition from any and all citizens willing to sign.
I was asked at the parting of Sir Rokranon and Saint Merielle "Keep Thay out of my home" This was my final command, thus until ordered otherwise I will obey. Firstly I would ask that The Council forbid the enclave and -all- of their employees, knights, and slaves be forbidden by law, from entering, or approaching The Orphanage, or the children that reside there.
As you are no doubt aware, there is -no- gain to be found there, unless it is the exploitation of the children.
Though I no longer wear The Fist, I am forever your man, under your service. I pray you aid me in this endevor, though I understand if you cannot. Your position makes you subject to the cares of a great many, where you must weigh such concerns. If you cannot have this law put in place, I ask that you send word to myself, stating what measures I may take to keep complete my task.

To the dukes
"Iracce my good lords. I have a simple request to impose upon you. There has been much word in the air over the allowance of Red Wizards on your land. Am afraid all of such words only come from second hand sources. I write to you in hopes of finding out your official position on the matter. I sincerely thank you in advance.

Thiago the Second arrives in the Ducal Palace and delivers a letter sealed with the symbol of a heart on it. He greats the guard and says that it must reach the hands of the Dukes. The handwriting is made with care and the paper has a very good quality.
“Most fair and honorable
Grand Duchess Jannath,
Grand Duke Eltan,
Grand Duke Belt and
Grand Duke Silvershield
I hope this letter find your graces all in good health and peace. I write in the name of the Radiant Heart Order, namely our humble chapter of Baldur`s Gate. At first I would like to enforce that all our initiates, squires, knights and Radiant Knights are always at your service upon request. We fight and remain vigilant all the time helping the valiant Flaming Fist keep our fair city an example of order and prosperity. Currently we have made the temple of Torm our base of operations. But it is of common agreement at our council that is time to increase our duties. Considering that in our ranks we have only holly warriors, we would like to voluntarily take the quest to protect Baldur`s Gate from demons, devils and undeads. I assure that you can deposit in this Order your trust and confidence for this task. We know that at this moment the Fist guards the northern boards against the abomination from the Fields of The Dead very well. But if the Order of The Radiant Heart had a strong hold near the farms on that area I give my word that no undead will ever cross it and our people will be well protected. Also the brave soldiers that work there can be reallocated to other positions. I do believe that at this moment we have raised enough funds to build a stronghold. All we need is your authorization for such.
We may proceed with this deal by changing letters or personally if you wish. Know that I am at your service and hope to hear from you soon.
May Helm always watch over You.
Cordially and respectfully.
Thiago, Knight of the Council of the Radiant Heart in Baldur`s Gate Chapter.”

*Adressed to "Lord General Eltan"
"Your grace, and Commander
I have been closely following the nature of the coming conflict that threatens the peace of our home. I have been attempting to prepare and if possible my part in resolving conflict before full scale warfare is required. As always I will gladly carry the banner of The Gate into any battle you deem prudent, and I will strike down any who say otherwise.
Though I believe it within the power of The Gate to gain retribution for the soldiers murdered upon the vessel lost near the border. I have heard more than one rumor, that Kalma Hellstorm is in possession of a Amnian flag. I am unaware where he acquired such a banner, but he has often been found south of your borders, walking freely and trading within Amn. I wish to present a plan, and purpose behind capturing this cowardly dog.
Firstly if he is hired by Amn, and we find the proof we can ask the assistance of The Lord's Alliance in this coming conflict which will force Amn into a tactical disadvantage. Secondly if Amn isn't behind these attack, he will offer us a insight as to who is. Third, this man has committed more than one vile crime against Your Grace, and the people of The Gate and deserves to hang. Lastly, if he did murder members of The Most Glorious Flaming Fist, it will send a clear message to the cowards of Roaringshore of what punishment will be dealt out to those who dare attack your soldiers. "
Forever at your command and service.
The Rock, servant of Sir Rokranon, and formerly of First Company of The Fist.

Dear dukes of Baldurs Gate
As you well know the relations between Baldurs Gate and the Enclave of the Green Triad have at times been strained and as such the relations between us have been nearly non-existent over the recent years. Times however have changed and our group with it, we would like to renew our relations with Baldurs Gate through extending our help by joining forces with you if it comes to a war with Amn.
However, war is a terrible thing that destroys much in its’ path and upsets the natural balance so we do hope every step will be taken to avoid it. If the war cannot be avoided we would like to keep it far from our grove and allies aswell as ask that the Fist soldiers minimize the destruction of nature while building their warcamps.
What we offer you if this war erupts is aiding you by doing our very best to keep amnish soldiers out of the forests of cloakwood and the wood of sharp teeth and we will even help you by bolster the defenses at the frontlines to keep the amnish armies from breaking through. We will however not be part of any attacks heading into the current amnish territory.
Signed
Toshiro - Supreme ranger

Dear Dukes of Baldurs Gate,
I am wondering how to join the war effort since the fist are no longer recruiting. I think my experience would be helpful. I have fought for Baldurs Gate a few times, including The Siege of Bhaals Temple, and i have assisted Fist patrols. I have helped hunt down a demonologist with the Radient Heart. As you can see I have helped Baldur's Gate on several occasions. I hope that I can do whatever I can to benefit the Gate in this and future endeavors.
Sincerely
John Roland

Subject: An Impromptu Evacuation
A letter arrives through the most expediently formal channels that her coin can buy, bearing no formal seal, just an artful drawing of a phoenix done in red ink. The script is neat and precise, it is addressed to “The Most Gracious Dukes of Baldur’s Gate”.
The contents of the letter bear the same neat script and deep crimson ink, reading as follows:
Your Graces:
Forgive the late hour of this letter, and forgive a humble citizen for the need to post such an urgent request in such times. I am sure thoughts of war weigh heavily on you now, and wish to offer what aid I am able. To do what is in my power however, I must make a small request:
I am under the impression that the lands surrounding the immediate vicinity of the Tradeway and outside the Friendly Arm Inn are either in your possession or under your protection… As such I would like to ask if I may coordinate a refugee camp of sorts for those in Beregost unable to fight, and set it in the empty space of land off the main road.
Surely Your Graces, you understand the gravity of the battle that looms over Beregost. With every able soul willing to fight, I feel those who cannot fight, children and elderly, widowed wives who have lost husbands already to Amn’s aggressive lack of care… They have no business in the midst of such a place. Your fine Flaming Fist should not have to worry about anything but halting the Amnian advance.
I am a woman of meager means, but enough influence to already have many willing to help move those who cannot protect themselves from the city. We are gathering tents and food, other supplies, also getting together wagons and horses to safely move as many as we are able. Others are willing to help with the small city’s defenses, still more are willing to aid by way of magic and space to harbor Beregost’s youngest and most fragile citizens.
Also, you need not worry for man power to find guards or guides to get people safely north, as already many have generously agreed to volunteer. I have rented as many rooms as Mister Mirrorshade can spare in the Friendly Arm, and intend to rent rooms within the City of Baldur’s Gate if you will allow such. I assure you that I am not writing to beg your funding for such a project, only your permission to make use of the land.
Think of the opportunity this is. After all, I am sure trade would suffer if those whom the Gate traded with in Beregost were dead. Dead people cannot rebuild shops and livelihoods. Think also on how many would look on this act of kindness and generosity. That surely would be a boon to the city’s image, as well as the image of its illustrious leaders. Many would look favorably on such kindnesses.
We need to move quickly, Your Graces, if we are to help any of them… I look forward to your reply. I am presently at the Friendly Arm Inn, though I mean to make my way to Beregost as soon as possible.
As always, the utter most sincerity from your favorite poet, and may the Gods smile on you in the days to come. I truly wish you much success in future endeavors, and as little bloodshed as the Fates will allow.
Your loyal servant,
Scarlett Willow
The Crimson Phoenix

"To the Grand Dukes of Baldurs Gate,
Our deepest condoleances for the defeat at Beregost and the deaths of the regiments and civilians alike involved in its defence. The dwarves of Kraak Helzak, especially the Ironfaars, understands your loss and we all share its burden.
These are bleak times, and special measures are needed to ensure the safety of the surrounding lands, of which we are part. It has come to my understanding that during previous negotiations the dwarves could only promise you, the four Dukes, a token force to man the barricades at Beregost. I heard they served well, and bled with you.
This letter is to inform you that there may still be hope. The dwarves across the lands have rallied to my banner. We have accepted the previous request of rebuilding your Bridge across the Chionthar. We are now accepting the other of direct military aid, as allies against our foreign enemies. The dwarves of Kraak Helzak are mobilizing to reinforce your forces, and I will personally lead them. Know that you are not alone. We are coming."
Signed,
King Dovkin Battlehammer, The Slayer King of Kraak Helzak, Lord of the Dwarven Clans, Protector of the People [Signet verified]

*a messenger is being send to deliver a written letter, bearing the slight scent of having been perfumed in lavender. the letter is written in a very elaborated handwriting*
"To the most honorable Dukes of Baldurs Gate,
you may not have heard of Me but I have been living close to your lands for several years by now. Thus seeing your most formidable Palace District being hit so heavy after such a short, yet brutal, war surely brought grief into My heart.
Grief that, luckily, bears the seed of hope, as I think I can make you an offer that will be of uttermost benefit for the City of Baldurs Gate.
Seeing so many dead and such a level of destruction in the Palace District I came to think that for the insignificant opportunity to gain a moderately sized domicile in good location within the Palace District to call My own I would happily be willing to separate myself from 700 Bags of Gold ((700.000gp ingame)) which I am sure would be of most benefit as I am sure such a loss heavy war as the last one and the upcoming rebuilding of the Palace District must be quite the burden on your fortune.
Furthermore, if living in the Palace District may be restricted I am sure that My many works of duty including but not restricting to My accomplishments in the last war along with an additional 100 Bags of Gold as administrative charge will surely be more then enough to qualify for a very minor title like "Lady".
I am so very happy to offer My help in those dark times. If you want to contact Me, I have a steady room in the Friendly Arms Inn on the Road between Baldurs Gate and Beregost, the local Tavern Patron will surely take any letter you will send for Me.
yours sincerely,
Narasida Zakine"

*Two notes, one to Duke Eltan, the other to Captain Norton*
"Lord General / My Captain
I have just today become aware of a situation, Delphinn Veil has taken a child from the temple of Ilmater. While at first I was unconcerned about this, -only- because he claimed to being a friend to children, today I saw him having open dealings with the Thayan Enclave.
Your Grace/ Sir, I understand that the laws do not permit action against the Thayan's however this supporter of Amn has openly removed a child under -our- protection. He is not to be trusted and I fear for the safety of the child. I beg your aid in this, force him to return the child or grant me the bounty to deal with him myself. I do not wish war I only desire to ensure the safety of the child that was until recently under my care. Once she is returned I could not care less as to his fate.
I beg that our city decides to fall on the side of decency and demand that a coward and dog of a man return to us one of the children that we care for.
*At the bottom of Norton's letter is a note explaining the sister note to Duke Eltan*
Ever your servant, and loyal soldier
