Coming up with one specific rule would be tough - rules around class/character restrictions exist to prevent power-building, but even in an ultra-high fantasy setting you can still out power the uber powered as a DM if you want to. The question about rules comes down to why we need them. IF everyone can play nicely together, they become unnecessary. Add more rules and you add having to know them, apply and enforce them, and basically become a slave to your source materials. A good DM can sometimes take the sourcebook and scratch the rule out and say, "Ya, no, we're doing this because I said so..."
Q: If you had to create a new rule, what would it be ?
Less rules! The more rules there are the more decision making is taken away from the DM. If your DM understands: a) players want to have their imaginations engaged, b) they want challenges that they can survive, albeit by the skin of their teeth somtimes, c) that they want loot that compliments their characters, and d) XP rules the day, and the players allow the DM to weave the tale and take them through it, then we don't need as many rules.
Q: What is your favorite class in PnP, and is it your favorite class on this server (if it is not on this server, what would be closest, and is it still your favorite) and if it is not your favorite on this server, why not.
Gotta be honest I play tanks mostly. Big, dumb fighter types who are vulnerable to mind magic, but who do 150+pt crits at epic levels with their great axe or war mace. Pure fighter, with maybe WM levels for finesse, or Dwarven Defender if playing a Dwarf, but all fighting, all the time, leading the charge.
Q: What class, in your personal opinion, as a member of this community - not meaning the DM team specifically/Staff etc.. is over played, too numerous in quantity on the server, and which class is not around enough?
By far and away the server has more Elves than any other race. Elves lead themselves to magic, rangers, or other spellcasters mostly. I think that an elf played properly is probably one of the best RP character types there is, and I have seen a lot of really excellent RP where characters play their RACE as much as their CLASS. Remember, a Bard or a Monk at 30th level, shoot a 30th lv pure Druid, kills a lot of fighters with a flick of the wrist. Elves are geared for this, but hard to get there - they need their tank to help them out
Q: Is it more important to have fun, even if it disregards small lore/rules/guidelines and continue with a concept/idea, in your personal opinion, OR would it be better to server ruling/guidelines/lore at the expense of immersion/fun/replayability ?
Having fun is a tenet of mine when role playing, I mean, why else play if it is not fun? Certain rules can be over-looked to add to the ambiance of the game, but not when it comes to lore or interferes with other players' ability to have fun. Certain lore rules should not be tampered with, and Dms know that the more they deviate from set rules/guidelines the more likely they are going to be called on it. I have a saying at work, if you don't follow the rules you will get in trouble, if you do follow the rules you will get in trouble... lol! Point being we have rules for a reason, and there had better be great reasons to break them.
Q: On this latter note, do you its best to approach CvC situations with extreme attention to the guidelines as set in stone rules, or best setup by case by case making more sense in realism /lore/plot i.e spur of the moment creativity ?
Tough one to answer - every player vs player situation has some element to it that makes it different from another. We are real people role-playing fictional characters and sometimes RL personalities overcome our game ones and we get backed into a logical (or real!) corner and make decisions based on our personalities rather than our characters. Happens to all of us now and then. I appreaciate a player, within the PvP rules, messing with another player or party because they have the intellect to do it. What isnt cool is a player in this situation who doesnt realize when they should back off and leave the player/party alone. PvP rules about griefing or metagaming are paramount when making sure that a powerful character doesnt grief a weaker one. Rules, on the other hand, shouldnt be used because a character in a balanced PvP lost the fight and doesnt like it either... sometimes you just get yer butt handed to you and that is the way that it is. There is a reason the DM team asks for screenshots when there are differences of opinion in PvP - we need to look at everything before making decisions.
(Guess this might be like some personality test haha, are you extroverted or introverted, dominant or submissive, are you concrete or abstract... etc..)
