I think you already know the answer to this since you brought up some of the strategies. For soloing the Frost Keep, dominate is your friend. Buff him and another summon and you have a wrecking machine. The Frost King is super easy, Bigby 5, enervate, enervate, enervate, enervate, enervate....did I mention enervate? Anyhow, enough of those or just a few and a death spell is enough to make the Frost King look like a pansy. Same tactic is good at the Cloud Peaks fire giants.

Vault of the undead is pretty much the only place I haven't soloed because I just haven't tried all that hard. Even with that said, killing all the minions all the way to the boss would be pretty hard for a single caster to do. Dominate doesn't work, control undead works alright but can be kind of iffy and you have to be evil to use it. Sunbeam is nice against undead, but even a sorc might have issues killing that many epic undead and still have enough power to kill the Dracolich

The surface Balor is a tough challenge though I was close a one time in killing all his minions but lag came in and interfered and I had to retreat. Basically ran in quickly, bigbied the Balor in place, ran back to the entrance where my dominated Giant and vamp was waiting and held the line. Kill his minions and now he's stuck far away and all alone. .

The only place I can think of where a mage cant (or will find it extremely difficult) solo is the Vault. EDM's can theoretically solo any stage on the server, but they can be destroyed by a smart arcanist who's not even all that supped up. Knowing all this makes me appreciate the roles each plays. Sure the EDM is out there making everyone look bad, but sorcs and mages still remain chiefly advantaged against those EDM gishes.

Actually I have a question. Anyone tried to planar bind any of the servers Balors? I wonder if the DM's made them immune to that like they are against shadow copies?

Not immune, but...50's in all saves (and they probably don't fail on 1's!).

For will? OMG! With all my focuses and -5 will save advantage with GPB, im calculating Id only have a DC of 40ish. Nuts man! 50's sheesh...

Can't bring dominated things through transitions, unfortunately. That would make things much, much easier.

1. Casts dominate on Revenant in the Vault of the dead

2. Teleport to Baldur's Gate graveyard

3. Disconnect

Obviously, there are issues with griefing. But people can grief without dominating mobs. I think the con is more significant than the pro in this case.

Aren't most of these areas supposed to despawn mobs anyways?

Sorry, but why do we need to change this aspect of Dominate Monster? It's not like we need that spell in the first place...certainly a nice option, I like it, I use it at times, and all...but needed? Nah.

I need it to go anywhere epic alone if I actually want to kill things.

Can you kill things non-stop, efficiently without a summon/dominated, Aelcar? If so, can you please, just for once, tell me how?

You can't do that.

So basically, it is needed.
