Re: Field of the Dead - Shoppe of Forgotten Mementos
Once the trade is complete and Mendel is about to leave, he notices the clothes.
"What about those?" he points to the Dark Garb
"I can have you sent two bastardswords of them? A Mithral Full plate as well. How does that sound?"

Re: Field of the Dead - Shoppe of Forgotten Mementos
The shopkeeper tilts her head at the mans request. "Those dark clothes you mean?" She gestures towards them. "I couldn't accept gold for them, but it is good to see that you are serious about making a trade."
She taps a finger on her tome while she considers. "You mentioned a dead paladin's equipment? Might I have a look at what remains?"
"Certainly. I have the paladin's cloak and boots on me," Reflex replies as he produces the items. "The armor is a bit more cumbersome to travel with, but I can describe it's very distinctive properties. It was crafted from the hide of a dragon and appears to possess a natural resistance to electricity. It's lighter than you'd expect for the protection it offers. A witness described to me our fallen paladin's last stand where she unleashed various forms of lightning as if she were a dragon herself."

//Sorry it has taken me so long to respond.Selande wrote: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The woman is writing in her tome. Without looking away from her work, she speaks with the man. "Oghma." She overenunciates the name, as if it were strange to her. "Hmm. I am selling stories here, I suppose. If you wish to hear one, perhaps an item might strike an interest." She gestures to her wares with her free hand.Aurali wrote:Loric closes his eyes and concentrates on taking in the vibrations of the world around him. He can feel them coursing through the ground, coursing through him as he falls in-sync with the rhythm of the world. He takes in a sharp breath and starts to hum in an extremely deep bass voice. He maintains this low drone as he travels through the troll claw mountains, the pitch such that it resonates perfectly with the returned echo. A slight disturbance in the resonance causes him to glance towards the fields of the dead. Seeing a dim light emanating from distant ruins, he decides to investigate.
He readily moves beyond the mountain pass and heads towards the ruins. After dispatching living skeletons with his black handled greatsword, he strides confidently towards the glow. Wearing a suit of armor made of the finest dark mithril, the grey-skinned Earth Genasi doesn't seem bothered by the macabre setting. He studies the woman and the layout of the display a few moments before speaking, "I am Loric Earthsong. Seeker of Knowledge in Oghma's name." He speaks with a pure, crisp bass and bows slightly. "Your presence here intrigues me. I feel there are stories to be told and songs to be sung. Perhaps, with your permission, I could start the exchange with an Earth song?"
"I do wonder what sorts of things would be of interest..." Almost spoken as if to herself. The hooded woman then quietly, almost playfully, whispers the word "Oghma" several times to herself, as she scribbles busily in her tome.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the woman continues to scribble into her tome, Loric closes his eyes and slowly breathes in until his lungs are full. He concentrates a moment on the vibrations of the earth, of the ruins, of the enchanting melody playing in the background. He feels where his voice could be placed within the harmonies and begins to sing. It is in Terran, very deep and rich. His voice balances perfectly within the chords and soon, the ground starts to rumble in return. It is a slight vibration, nothing that would disturb ancient rock or vendor table alike. However, it can be felt as well as heard. The Earth Song continues for a few minutes. When he stops, Loric opens his jet black eyes.
"I have told the story of this blade," says Loric in a deep, soft voice as he pulls a large blade from beneath his cloak. While it seems to gleam in the moonlight, the bastard sword looks ordinary but well made. "I can translate the song for you if you wish. This sword is named the Touch of Death."
Re: Field of the Dead - Shoppe of Forgotten Mementos
The woman nods as she listens. "Gold is fine, I suppose. If that's the currency you are permitted then it will have to do. Though I'd value your interests at a hundred fifty thousand each." She looks to the man to gauge his reaction.finneas wrote:*A hint of pained dismay crosses Kellan's pious features as the woman makes her wishes plain.*
"Alas milady, I possess no such blade. The weapons of my order are tools firstly, only serving as weapons as a matter of last resort. Swords and weapons of war are but vaguely known to me. I could offer you a sum of coin for the items, as the High Dawnknight has bid me equip myself to serve the temple afield and has granted me resources for such. Whether you will take coin or not, if you wish it, I will ask the high clergy if they possess a blade such as that which you seek and if so, if they wish to trade such a weapon."
"With the assurance that if one of those holy tools of last resort were to come from one of your companions, I'd reward the seeker as well as the seller."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The shopkeeper looks to the man as soon as he enters the room, casually observing his actions. The exposed pages of her tome seem to be glistening slightly, as if wet or oily. She doesn't touch her tome, instead absently fiddling with a small length of unadorned silvery chain, suitable as a necklace if it were not broken.matelener wrote:Overhearing the rumours of an unusual sale taking place in the fields of the dead, a city merchant, Damian Valsarez, hires few well-armed men to escort him to the point of interest. The following days spent traveling through the land of bones turned the usually lively man into a bundle of nerves anticipating all kinds of unfortunate scenarios.
Upon seeing the sign, the trader sighs with relief knowing he safely reached his destination. He motions to the guards to stay outside as he enters the ruin.
"Salutations." He greets the shop keeper with a proper bow as soon as he is noticed.
"Miss Zeda, yes? I'm glad to be meeting you. Damian, my name." His eyes chaotically travel around the interior hinting some uneasiness still lingering from the journey.
"I've been hearing words of truely matchless wares in your possession and so it seems... the words were no lies. I've come to offer three hundred thousand for the pair of exotic blades and the mantle." He points to each of the mentioned items.
"I also have something of mine that might pique your interest. It is a five and a half foot long sword rumoured to be found in a tomb of an anaurian champion. The blade was named Ixurvhaen, the Blood Drinker, as it seems to thirst for the lifeforces of whoever crosses its wielder. The unholy aura surrounding it is enough to send shivers down the spine..."
He then lays a parchment on the table which contains the drawings of blade's runes and the explanation of their significance.
"Should you be interested, I would take pleasure in exchanging it for something of similar value, and perhaps less ominous. This list specifies my needs further." He draws another parchment from his bag and lays it beside the other.
As the man makes his offer she leans forward slightly to see which items he has taken interest in and then to view his drawings. "The sword is too large to be of use to me, though not a bad weapon. Wish it were smaller..." She shifts her weight where she sits.
"The sum is plenty for the lesser of the blades and the mantle. The serrated one, however, is worth that much on it's own."
She tilts her head as if listening to something outside. "You're considerate to keep your guards outside." A slight tone of concern for their safety tinges her voice. The cloaked woman turns to look at what used to be a window on the opposite end of the room from the entrance and sighs slightly, despite nothing being there.

When the man glances behind him, the woman tilts her head curiously, wondering if he had been followed by something.TheKai wrote:A little gnome dressed in shimmering robes and radiating an aura of protective magic makes his way to the ruined structure of the merchant. He slowly approaches and peers in. "Well now, i guess the rumors are true! A merchant here, in this particular location of all places. I would not believe it if I did not see it with my own eyes."
He looks around the structure a bit more, before examining the items. He takes quite a few glances behind him, as if paranoid or apprehensive.
"Well greetins to ya, trader! Word spread far south of your wares. Quite impressive indeed, i must agree. The tales did not do these artifacts justice." He then points to the warlock only amulet. "This one draws me. Would you take gold for this one? An offer of...80 bags, perhaps?"
As he makes plain his interests, she dismisses her concern, following his gesture to the item. Wordlessly she nods acceptance to his offer and gestures for him to take the item.
The hooded woman looks away from the Idol, perhaps superstitiously.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The woman glances to the garb and listens to his description of the swords attentively. "The cold iron one is very nearly what I'm looking for... So very close... but not as... blessed as I was hoping." She seems to have something specific in mind but no proper experience with the item itself. "Sadly I can't trade those clothes for anything less than the blade I'm looking for." The woman does seem genuinely disheartened by her statement.mrm3ntalist wrote:Once the trade is complete and Mendel is about to leave, he notices the clothes.
She addresses his other two items in turn. "The other sword... it's unique but not something I'd want. A confused enemy is often difficult to control. Misleading an opponent is far more advantageous." The cloaked woman looks to the man appraisingly. "Though I'm sure you know what I mean and more."
"The armor I'd be interested in if you trade in anything other than blades. Is there a gold amount in mind for it? Rude of me to ask, perhaps, but it's not a frequent item to cross my path."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The shrouded shopkeeper continues to tap her finger absently, sometimes with a rhythm and other times completely randomly. "Perhaps a change of roles? Would you accept gold for the boots and armor? I've a good use for them, but I'm to understand that I can only provide gold for this client."Gilgamesh wrote:"Certainly. The shopkeeper pauses her scribbling, tilting her head as she listens with interest to his Earth Song. Not understanding Terran, she recognizes only the musical aspects of his performance. As soon as the song finishes, she begins busily writing again. "I would need it translated, I think." She says, amused.Aurali wrote:As the woman continues to scribble into her tome, Loric closes his eyes and slowly breathes in until his lungs are full. Upon receiving translation or description of the sword, she should pause her scribbling again and consider the sword briefly. "It reminds me of a blade a companion of mine used long ago. Unfortunately it's not quite powerful enough to be of use to me, though the song and reminder are appreciated." She scribbles again. "I wonder what they ever did with that sword anyways..." Almost spoken to herself.

*The young monk smiles, albeit sadly at the woman's response. He spares a last look at her, her table of rarities and the locale in general before turning toward the entrance.*
"I fear I shall have to make my way out of these unholy lands empty handed, milady. I have not the means to procure even one of your valuables. Still, I shall pass word to the elder clergy at the temple regarding the relics you seek and require no recompense if they so choose to provide you with said relics."
*With his final word spoken the lean priest ducks out of the vestibule, his unencumbered and unarmed form swiftly sprinting south toward civilization.*

After some minutes bargaining, Myrualae finally accepts the price. After paying, and with her bag almost empty, she walks out of the building with a single nod to the merchant as a farewell. A new fine blade hangs from her side and the upper part of a crimson choker can be seen on her neck, the rest of the magical amulet below her leather vestmens.

A dwarf in a in a mithral breast plate and two scimtars walks into the shoppe. He spends a few moments looking around and shaking his head. He looks up to the cloaked figure deep in her tomes. "Oi lad this seems a strange place to set a shop. To many of the bones be walking in these fields!" As the dwarf talks you seem to hear an elven accident in his voice. He starts walking through and looking at the wares. He picks up the Lightning Scimitar wide eyed. "This blade be a work of art! Maybe the nicest that I have ever held. Can't even guess the price ye have on an item this fine" he returns the scimitar to its place and then grabs the bloody rags. "Now this cloak seems like it be more in me price range. How much would ye take for it? I also have a few wares of me know. Nothing as nice as some of these though" he pulls a few things our of his pack to be viewed. After she replies he seems very embarrassed for calling her lad.

The shopkeeper doesn't outwardly react to being called lad. Her tone may be a touch more dispassionate than she might be with other initial buyers. "I have not truly considered a price for them.
