New year, new Osric ...

This card came in a wave of creativity after certain in-game events. Osric was afflicted by a powerful curse that no one seemed able to break. Unsure of whether he was a danger to those around him, he decided to abandon populated areas in favor of making camp in more barren locales. Obviously, the result was that Osric started to feel isolated and cut off from his friends and support systems.
The original Hermit Arcana represents a period of solitude, soul-searching and introspection. These themes all resonated with me at the time for Osric. He has since grown out of this phase and would no longer consider this arcana representative of him, but it was fitting at the time.
The hermit carries a lantern (and luckily enough, Osric has one too). Here, however, I depict the lantern exuding the cursed spirits that are bound to him. The halo that surrounds his head and the two towers that are seen in the distance are elements of the Moon Arcana, which is a card that represents illusion, anxieties, insecurities and the subconscious. I thought those themes could've worked for Osric at the time as well, but ultimately the stronger symbology comes from the Hermit, in my opinion. I try to stay away from incorporating too many mixed elements of different arcana in future cards.
