If you already know a spell, learning it again from a scroll will only increase your "spells known" counter.

I tested it on Ice Darts. I already knew the spell, studied an Ice Darts scroll for kicks and giggles, and my "spells known" went up by 1. So be careful!

And after a recount it goes back down. :P

I scribed all the summon spells across from Aeili's cleric levels to her wizard spellbook and her no. of spells went up from 238 to 245. After performing a manual recount it dropped back down to 238 (because the spells had already been 'counted' from her cleric spellbook).

Can anyone give a rough estimate for gold required to rebuild a spellbook, levels 0-9, using scrolls for anything not able to be purchased in game, or taken upon level up?

I spent about 20k on merchant scrolls and 70k on scribed scrolls when I redid Aeili. I did omit many merchant scrolls, and scribed out more 6-9th level ones than a full CL wizard might.

Therefore I'd guess somewhere in the region of 25-30k for merchant scrolls and 35-70k for scribed scrolls. The higher your pure wiz CL, the less it will be because you can use more free picks for high level spells.

That's approximately what I spent as well... talk about a gold sink :(

Jeeez. F my life.

I don't play like I used to, to be able to afford that kind of expense on an RCR if it isn't a "Final" RCR. I am cash poor.

I guess I will hold off a little longer in hopes that I can get my Thaumaturge question answered one way or another before I decide on what I am doing. Having the cohort in a summon slot (opposed to the previous companion slot) really leaves me disinterested in including that if it stays.

I briefly checked new planar binding spells, it looks like some of the available creatures have more punch than original erinyes/whatever.

Still, having named cohort was fun, and I think that having multiple summons was quite important for Thaumaturge class.

There's also option of playing Thaumturge sorcerer. You won't get wizard flexibility, but you won't need to waste cash on the scrolls.

Not always.

It might have been a bug, but a wizard I made after the the big update 2.0 did not have Mark Rune.

A second wizard I made, did have it.

Odd stuff.

Can anyone help me with the new Learn Spell Feat?

If I have the original character who scripted the spell standing in front of my character who wishes to learn the spell, I don't have to pass any checks, is that right?

If not, my character is going to have a spellcraft of 20, what is the percentage chance success for learning level 8 spells?

Currently there are two spellcraft rolls for copying a new spell to a spellbook:

DC 20 + Spell level Decipher Script (should be abolished in my opinion)
DC 15 + Spell level Copy Scroll

If you have 20 spellcraft then you have 35% chance of failing Decipher Script check and 10% chance of failing the copy check for a level 8 spell. You can boost your chances by casting Gtr Heroism on yourself first, along with Fox's Cunning to give your spellcraft a possible +6 boost.

Maybe a mod can move it to the Tips & Tricks Gameplay Guides?

I'll try to do so tonight if I remember, and nobody gets to it before me.
