Mara laughed, huffing in a loud breath before cackling once more. "Check ye time piece, lass. Twenty three hours, fifty minutes... almost to the second." she encouraged, the smirk broad on feminine maw to accompany mirthful flicker that danced in the emerald depths of her gaze. Laughter erupted from her lips anew as she looked to Michael, gloved digit thumbing the tip of freckled nose. "A crook an' a liar, 'eaven's forbid."
Setting aside the ledger, the ranger's name scribbled in allotted place, Mara set her feet on the table anew. "Come back tomorrow, darlin'. Same deal."

Shea - who already turned around and is in the process of leaving the place - smirks ironically and turns around again. She looks into Maras eyes directly and - in her calmest voice - says:
"I wonder how you tell apart the time of "The sun stands exactly between the two dead branches of that tree over there when I look from here." and "The sun stands exactly between the two dead branches of that tree over there when I look from here.", then, Miss.
Telling me that there are some heartbeats difference between those times is nothing else but a madeup wanna-be-fact, a blatant lie.
And therefore I'd be very careful whom I call "crook" and "liar", little Miss Greedbag.
Infact I'd be very careful with any offenses at all.
If you can't sleep without a few coins more, that's fine. We all have our flaws and shortcomings.
But don't call other people names when you just broke the rules of the Merchant Friend."
With that remark she attempts to leave, for real this time.

((And now I only hope that BGTSCC has no custom lore that states digital watches are already invented by gnomes or something like that.
In other words: I'd appreciate a heads-up what ways of actual time measuring are available here. Is there anything beyond sundials?
I am not butthurt about the fact that Shea didn't get that sword, mind you, technically YMHM's bid was within the 24 hours. All fine with me. I'm just curious.

"I was referencin' meself as a crook an' a liar. Surely even a clueless wench like yeself can understand sarcasm..." A hand lifted to dismiss the woman in a lazy manner, as Mara herself leaned back upon the sandy hind legs of weathered chair. After all, who knew better her own greed than the pirate herself.
"Look, unless ye want tae place another bid ye ain't gettin' th'blade. I got better things tae be doin' than arguin' semantics wit' ye. Just go ahead an' fly away like a good li'l dove an' go babble ye nonsense at someone who cares. Thank ye, darlin'~"
To the parting dwarf, the seafarer offered a grin and a lift of her bottle in nonplussed farewell.
"Ye got it, lad. I'll keep an eye out." Behind her, however, the scarf-clad figure cracked his tattooed knuckles in warning; a clear message for Shea to be on her way.

I don't use such things in my RP, but given the fact you want to get technical and make IC accusations of being ripped off, there are few ways to draw the line IC (such as referencing the sun) for what is an understood OOC time frame. If you want to get into the nitty gritty, 24 hours from the time the bid was written in is 24-hours from the time the post was made stating that very thing. YMHM's bid was in that time frame, albeit close. If there's a problem, you're welcome to PM me. Again.

I thought my PM and my above ooc spoiler had made my intentions clear - but not being a native speaker I apparently worded it utterly wrong ....
So, just to be absolutely clear here:
I as a player do not complain about anything regarding this whole auction. I'm completely fine with it. I do not think that you did anything fishy or plain wrong, I do not see any need for you to defend anything or whatever. 
Like I wrote in that PM yesterday - Shea was slightly disappointed about Maras decision - I as a player was not. Period.
Shea worded her disappointment in a rather accusing manner which spurred Maras reply.
Which made Shea lashing out an even harsher accusation (partly because I OOCly didn't understand that you meant Mara to mean herself by "crook" and "liar" - again, no native speaker, sorry. You have a very elaborate way of writing and I do have trouble fully understanding your sentences now and then. Even after reading that "crook" lines several times I cannot recognize how Mara addressed herself there. But I'm lost ever so often when it comes to sarcasm and irony in english.
In addition I did something I shouldn't have done - I tried to be funny myself. That "digital watches, invented by gnomes" comment was meant as a merely funny remark, nothing else. (I have learnt yesterday that BGTSCC features binary system as lore now so this doesn't seem
that much out of place anymore. Hey, even Pratchetts Discworld has "digital devices" (using demons) so ... )
Really that "digital" remark was just meant to be funny. I apologize for the poor way I worded it.
And I for sure never had the intention to start "being nitpicky". The incident of the five minutes OOCly, transferred to IC by Mara by pointing out at the sun made me wonder (again oocly) how a BGTSCC character would measure time at all. How accurate are the devices at our characters' hands? Can Shea clearly tell five minutes apart? As in: "FIVE minutes" - not "way less than an hour but a bit more than a heartbeat". A sundial (especially a handheld one) would be inappropriate for such from personal (ooc!) experience.
And so I really just wanted to get a hint or two about "how exactly do we measure time ICly?" I did not mean to imply anything, to accuse you of anything etc.
One last time: I am very sorry for the trouble I caused by my poor english. I apologize.

A worn and weathered full plate is laid out for display. Though it seems to require some repair and polish, closer inspection reveals it to be made of mithral. (original post updated for mithral full plate, with correct info.) SOLD!
