This day most ranger patrols have been cut to the minimum, only patroling the trail leading to the village. The rest of the rangers are seen taking defensive positions along the perimeter of the village.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the meantime a group of Dharashans are seen going out of the village for a scouting mission. They are worried of what they might come up against but they are also determined to find more about the latest threat.

After many hours, they all return to the village. Although they have made progress and know what they need to research, they all seem sad, because this knowledge came at a price. The rangers are carrying six coffins of their fallen brothers and preparations are made to honour them

The golden-haired priestess would emerge from her new lodgings in the public house at the sound of songs of lament. Her hand would rise to cover her mouth and her hushed voice would begin to join some of the others trying to find out exactly what happened.

News of the force's return spread throughout the village and reached the Temple of Rillifane. Quickly Kaienrai put the poultice regents away and made his way outside of the tree temple, excitedly.

His excitement fled swiftly as he saw the rangers carrying the bodies. A look of sadness crossed his features, and a prayer to Corellon, Sehanine and Rillifane quickly left his lips. He looked upon the other rangers, examining each from the high tree bridge. His study of herbal medicine's and stronger incantations were only budding at this time, but he grabbed what regents he could and set out, seeking Faernsuor Kirias to see if he could lend aid in some way.

Vendetta

The whirlwind of steel and forest green that was Mendel charged the horde of Walking Dead with avenging frenzy, decaying limbs and rotting body parts raining in his trail.
Whenever one of the life craving monsters was struck down, three more were taking its place...and three more were cut down in a furious dance of death.
Kind and just in times of peace, it was easy to forget the feral, inexorable killer within him, surfacing when his people needed the most.

First Wizard Ithilwen kept placing key spells with uncanny precision, minimizing the power expense and obtaining devastating results, her weaves so cold they could make even the dead shiver as testament of her skill level.
All the while, her face remained a blank, cold mask devoid of any kind of emotion in spite of the gruesome murder of their ranger brothers, the ghastly army closing in on them or the sheer size of the Golems towering over the scene.

The dark figure managed to get a glimpse of Amy using all her blessings, considerable swordsmanship and uncanny agility to keep countless walking corpses at bay while her sister Del supported her with her magical gifts, and of Gabriela blasting as many of the abominations as she could while trying to keep out of their reach...Then, eternal instants later, they came for him.

They rose out of the mud all around him, grabbing him, pounding on his wards, clawing at his life thread. He let them. He felt the strain on his defenses, mirror images shattering, barrier spells weakening...his anger rising.
When he was satisfied with the amount of them massed around him, he thrust his arms towards the sky, ancient Loross words coming out of his mouth as the trance every mage of power knows all too well took hold of him:

"Soul Sunder"

He chuckled darkly when every last one of the monsters fell limp, the bond with their master severed. With the dead Dharashan still vivid in his mind's eye, he turned his vindictive, burning glare towards his new targets as he stepped forward, hands raising, ready to weave again:

"And wait to see what I have in store for your master, puppets..."

A burst of magical energy was shaped into an inferno, engulfing the next attacking wave and leaving only charred remains in its wake...

As daylight struggled to stream through the overhanging canopy, a bedraggled, hollow-eyed, and familiar-looking young woman may be seen skulking towards the great tree just lying beyond the village, eyes darting around, her gait reminiscent of a feral, skittish animal.

The young woman wanders around the tree, regarding all with that distant, unblinking stare. Finally, she slips into a gloom-shrouded crevice amongst the tree's massive roots, staring blankly at the place where she had sat for so long, before shuddering briefly and placing a rolled-up parchment into the corner.

She glances around before heading out and into the clearing, pausing to cast a wistful look towards the bed of red flowers before lifting her chin. Her voice rings out, hoarse-throated yet ringing with power, the Weave thrumming in her spoken syllables.

For the briefest of seconds, she is still there before the Weave pounced and wrapped around her, wrenching her physical form out and away.

Under the Great Oak my friends,
Now you rest in peace.
In the golden fields of Arvandor my friends,
May you enjoy the feast.

The Leaflord calls you back,
To be one with the mighty woods,
The oaks they soar, the trees they flourish,
Because of your livelihoods.

The energy of your spirits,
Will see the sapling soar,
The work of your actions in the heat of battle,
Gives the village it's mighty roar.

The Rangers of our Village,
They know the vows they take,
To protect our home, to protect our forest,
To protect the fruits they make.

Yet none show fear when their duties call,
A testament to our Rangers,
With bow and blade and song and spell,
They vanquish all the dangers.

Under the Great Oak my friends,
Now you rest in peace.
In the golden fields of Arvandor my friends,
May you enjoy the feast.
*Penned quietly by the Moon Elf Kaienrai in honor of the fallen Rangers, sitting in Rillifane's Temple deep in the heart of the Misty Forest

News of the fallen rangers spreads quickly though the village, and as the acolyte entered the clearing where the young priest knelt in prayer, he rose to meet her gaze. Before she can deliver the news, she sees the traces of tears on his grief stricken face, and knows the message has preceded her.
Raising a hand to forestall any words of comfort she might have offered, the cleric clears his throat and speaks softly.
"Contact the families. Any who wish resurrection will be attempted. Perhaps we can learn something from this tragedy, but I will come regardless, to help guide their souls along the path to Arvandor. It is my duty to my people, and the Father. "

As Kirias steps quickly past, the acolyte falls into step just slightly behind, feeling the closeness of the Seldarine through the cleric's aura, and she knows he has been gathering his power already for some time, likely for this event.
Sadly, the two walk back into the village, following the paths through the grass.

Her main point seemed to be that she possessed a good deal of information which may be of use to their cause after having performed considerable research into the source of the undead threat during her recent tenure in Baldur's Gate, namely the site called Warlock's Crypt. She would also offer to put all her years of training and study in the School of Mages in Taltempla to work in deciphering information from the recovered texts.
After Aeili's meeting with Mendel, she would make her way quietly to the pool beneath the waterfall. After sitting there in silence for quite some time, she would eventually take an unimpressive and non-magical ring from a belt pouch. She would spin it in her fingertips for a good, long while, mulling over something deep inside. All of a sudden she looked up, and with a simple flick of her thumb she launched the ring into the depths of the pool. She then immediately stood, turned away from the flowing water and disappeared into the forest for a few hours before eventually returning and making her way to the First Mage's tower to be put to work.

Foreword

Archmage Kael of the fallen Kalinor, Master of the Shadow Tower and Lorekeeper of Dharasha whispered sharply a few power words in the arcane language of magic as one of the Necromentals closed in on him. The hulking form lounged for him right before imploding, instantly crushed by the divine energy summoned by his weave.

He dusted his black robes off with nonchalance, his emerald gaze sweeping the killing zone. The Rift that had formed on their side of Boareskyr Bridge had been closed, obliterated by the power of steel and magic. The attacking Elemental army had been defeated.
His companions were all alive, and in excellent shape: the High Command of the Silver Rose had proven once more their incredible battle prowess, just like the last time he had fought alongside them to defend Doron Amar. His Dharashan brothers and sisters had been their equals, displaying martial and magical skills far beyond the level one would deem reachable by mortals.

As the negative energy residues across the battlefied began to wane like a dim match, he murmured in a long-dead language:

"Carry this word of advice to your "friends" as well: stay dead..."

Turning his back to the scene, he began walking towards the Portal Stones, the gateway to Dharasha, where their meeting was about to begin after the brief...distraction.

When would these liches, necromancers and plaguebearers learn? He was not afraid of the Undead...

It was the Undead who should have been afraid of him...

Battered and bruised Terri Lalani, Lucas, and Taran reached the EDE Village. Once we was disarmed we was questioned at the gate and refused entry to the village. We warned them of the banshees and flying skulls and of the strange woman who seemed to have the ability to step in and out of the astral plane almost at will. Afterwards they questioned us on the details and then promptly and efficiently escorted us out of their woods. The elves seemed appreciative of our warning, though they acted a bit off put by the whole situation and alarmed that the undead could have reached the glen without being spotted by their scouts first so close to their village. The elves surely must have heard "the banshees' wails that could be heard throughout the entirety of the Glen and surrounding area of the Misty Forest."

2. "we was brought to the leader" was changed to "the group was questioned at the gate and refused entry to the village." to clarify that we did not gain access to the guild hall area.
3. The elves was "Maybe even a bit scared" was changed to " and alarmed that the undead could have reached the glen without being spotted by their scouts first so close to their village."
4. The elves surely must have heard "the banshees' wails that could be heard throughout of the Misty Forest." Added "the entirety the Glen and surrounding area" To denote proximity to the EDE Village.

After spending some time perusing text provided within the village's arcane library, Kaienrai could be seen leaving the village, travel pack in hand. Stepping through the fey stones of the village, he arrives in the area near Boareskyr Bridge. He unfurls a scroll and begins reading for a few moments, magic gathering around him. As the scroll crumbles to dust, he vanishes with a small 'pop'.

The priestess of Mystra stood by the window of her room, looking outside while gripping a letter in her hands. She watched as the townsfolk wandered here and there, going about their daily business. She smiled as she heard the children laughing, playing games and practising that all-so-natural elven skill of swordcraft with wooden rapiers and longswords. Towards the northern part of the village a few of the wild elves were stringing new longbows, readying themselves for target practice.

Those gentle, emerald-turquoise eyes slowly drifted to the south. The waterfall bubbled unceasingly into the pool below; all manner of woodland creatures came and went from the mushroom house just across the stream. Elven rangers looked alert, but uneasy. Something was stirring in the air, the smell of the forest was far more tense than it was when she first arrived.

Those doe eyes turned back towards the north, finding their rest upon the Arcane Study. She had gone inside the same day, just to see what would be at her disposal. She was impressed to say the least: a scrying mirror, elven alchemy and enchanting workbenches. There was even a teaching room, the board scrawled with the last lesson for the young and aspiring arcane students.

Those eyes fell, a flutter of eyelids as she directed them back at the letter in her hands. They closed, a moment of reflection and appreciation danced across Aeili's face as she thought about what had been written to her by the First Mage. Moisture began to accumulate in the innermost corner of her eyes as happiness began to well up in her heart.

She turned away from the window and looked about her room. Those green eyes darted around until her eyes were fixed upon the place. There, in the corner, sitting folded upon her dresser was her blue and white vestments of faith. A few soft steps later and she was close enough to reach out her hand and touch the delicate, and expensively dyed, silk fabric. She had never thought she would ever need them away from the temple. She had never been happier to have been wrong.

She turned and looked out the window once more as a visage of contentment spread across her gaunt and sickly features. Despite the potential dangers that were facing the village, and despite her innermost apprehensions, Aeili had quite forgotten about her illness and was instead overcome with that unmistakeable sense of welcoming. Soon she would be teaching the history of magic to the younglings in order to garner their appreciation of where the Art had come from, and where they would be tasked to take it in the future. Soon she, alongside the other ordained clergy of the Seldarine, would be busy setting up a triage centre for the coming war. Soon she would be with the rangers, dancing through the forest, longbow in hand, surveying threats both magical and mundane.

Soon she would truly know if she had found once again a vestige of the home she had left all those years ago.

Aeili entered the Arcane Study and approached the First Mage's study to relay her appreciation of the opportunities now available to her in service to the village. She then spent the majority of the remainder of that day within the Arcane Study, quill in hand, busily preparing notes for her upcoming lectures on the History of Magic for the apprentices. It may be noted that she is no longer wearing her travelling leathers, but is now attired in a far more delicate and free-flowing elven-styled robe, if even a little on the bright side.
