A man in blue cloth leaves a shop of the calligrapher, a somewhat largish parchment held in his hands, up high, as he admires what is written upon it, standing outside the doorway to the shop, in the afternoon light of a near Mid-Summers Day.

Any observing this man in blue cloth would easily determine he just now collected an order of a parchment drafted with a statement, for some...purpose. And the man in blue cloth is standing there, making sure, once again, his words given in person, verbally, have been written in the same manner, but by the hand of another, not his own.

Satisfied, the man in blue, walks with intention to the Eastern District plaza and market, near the Elfsong Tavern, particularly, where the public billboard of notices and lists, have been drafted and posted. In this area of the Gate, many citizens and merchants would easily recognize the man in blue cloth as Dhavel the Wayfarer, who, for the last weeks, has been peddling blessed water opals in his spoken-for faith.

At the public billboard, Dhavel the Wayfarer post the parchment, and takes a step back, keenly studying the placement, until again, satisfied, it will hang well and receive...notice.

Soon, he crosses the open area near the performer, the fountain, and returns to a well worn keg stationed near the market stalls, where he has for some time, utilized in gaining support-in-form-of-donation-exchange-for-goods, for his...overture.

The parchment itself, hangs well fastened to the board. Upon its face, is written this:
  • To the Observer of Faith and Those with Homage in the Moment~

Those that follow the path, that pay homage to the Water Lord Istishia and seek to share the wisdom in the interconnection and cyclical nature of existence of all beings—as must be told, the path to purification found in the mystery and wisdom of the God-King of Water. What is learned and what is given, in this faith, is the greatest of all knowledge...that the cycles of life are mirrored by the cycles of fate, and that we all shall pay the price or reap the reward, by the actions of our past...and our future.

Essential truths are embodied in water itself...and thus, it is the desire of faithful to see a Shrine erected in homage to Istishia, here, within the walls of the city Baldur's Gate. With symbol such as a shrine for which to give and attend, many blessing in return will be delivered to all that reside in this city.

To manifest, the rulers of this city-state require patronage, both in coin and in name, to bolster the claim that what is for want, may be constructed, and used.

So it is I, Dhavel, known by my faith as the Wayfarer, present this overture to all minds, asking for either donation or name, in support. Whether homage to the Water Lord be casual or held in the highest regard, let your support take the easiest course.

Collected, the natural force of response will determine the next path, the flow to resolution.
The parchment is unsigned, but below the writing, seem to be not-so-faint horizontal lines, well spaced, as if providing placement of the signature of others....

\\Subject: Overture for Honoring the Water Lord, Istishia

Hand carts are seen trundling through the streets as sacks of grain are moved from a warehouse in the Docks District to the Sword Coast Commercial Exchange building. The Ilmatari, the Everwatch, members of the Order of Lions, faithful of Tyr and even charitable passers by helped move the sacks, as did the Commercial exchange personnel themselves. It is rumoured three finely dressed ladies oversaw the deposit of the grain within storage attached to the Commercial Exchange building itself, including Director Endelyon and Lady Cheryl Cadwaldr herself. Said storage is being provided for free to the soup kitchen project by the Commercial Exchange, freeing up room to use part of the warehouse as the soup kitchen.

A figure was seen arriving by caravan to Baldurs Gate this evening, his origins made clear by his red robes (dusty with travel) and shaven head (also dusty with travel). He proceeded swiftly to the Thayan enclave, smiling briefly at anyone who showed interest but not pausing for the sights nor for conversation.

He was received by the acting head of the enclave, and a meeting was held for several hours.

It's unclear what effect if any the newcomer will have on the enclave, but it's near universally accepted that more Red Wizards can never be a good thing!

Beyond notice given to adventurers and readers of the Baldur's Gate Herald, word would begin to circulate throughout the harbor that the recruitment effort would take place in the Harbor district, and Endelyon would be seen around the docks throughout the day, setting up tables in a small part of the district not far from the Merchant's League. Occasionally, as children here and there might wander up to the table, Endelyon would would speak to them quietly for a few moments, asking them to tell anyone they saw about the job offerings before smiling, handing them a couple of coins, and sending them off once more.

One who observed long enough could swear one of the children stopped by several different times, Endelyon seeming completely unaware that she kept paying the same child. If the one who observed was in the know, they might realize it was Jeremy, the little orphan boy who seemed rather fond of tormenting Lady Adora week after week.

(( Event is today, June 29th, at 17:00 EST / 14:00 PST / 21:00 GMT in the Baldur's Gate Harbor! Any and all are welcome to attend. Looking forward to the RP. :) ))

Efforts of the Sword Coast Commercial Exchange to hire local residents was Spearheaded by Acting Director Endelyon Castillo that eve, fueled as a two-part effort by the Temple of Ilmater (working in concert with the Commercial Exchange) as a way to provide both jobs and food to the people who need it. Music and ambiance was provided by the co-founder of Bluesummer Academy Rose Valexe throughout the entire eve, and it was said that many a noble, in heart or in title, donated money during the effort. A prominent doner was said to be a merchant named Nihm, who donated her own lion's share to the effort as well as bringing the total collected to over one hundred thousand lion's worth.

Word on the street is that those who are interested in applying in man the soup kitchens can contact any member of the Commercial Exchange, but especially the Assistant to the Acting Director Alessia De'Lille. Will the business receive applicants? Would it become self-sufficient? Only time can tell.

Tensions are high following pieces of parchment telling others to BEWARE THE BLACK HAND..

Where these warnings lie, more insightful cautionary advice has been left either on parchment or on leaves. One might read as follows:

Many other examples can be found wherever the forboding messages were previously found.

*Mariko picks up and examines a large leaf laying near the north gate scrawling with the following*:

BEWARE THE WHITE HAND

One should wear gloves when playing in the snow.

"Hmm..common knowledge....but true at least."

*lets the leaf fall to the ground and walks off*

Under the soothing gaze of a setting sun, a small brigantine approaches the harbour of Baldur's Gate. The more it approaches, the more it becomes clear that the iridescent shine emanating from the vessel is the result of several metal plates covering the hull that reflect the warm colour pallet painting sky and sea.

After the ship has anchored, a group of jolly sailors descends into the streets of the Harbour District, chanting and laughing by the inspiration of a hin mounted upstraight on the shoulders of a portly half-orc with a severe limp, directing the way towards the Blushing Mermaid, the orc's pudgy hands holding the hin's legs as he entertains the crew in his wake.

An older man, short and stout but by no means a dwarf, clad in leather cloak and hat, separates himself from those on their way to a night out and is seen exchanging a few words with the harbourmaster before taking his leave in the opposite direction. Pausing underway, he pulls out a piece of folded parchment from a waiste pack and after reading it tucks it back whence it was pulled and picks up his stride.

He seems to be headed in the direction of the Sword Coast Commercial Exchange's office.

A group assembled in Pathfinder's Hall on the 2nd of Flamerule, seemingly preparing for some kind of expedition. After some deliberation together, they moved out into the street and disappeared towards the docks district. Priestess Aeili would have been almost unrecognisable in her drab brown robes amongst the others.

Some time later, the Mystran would return to Pathfinder Hall wearing her priestly vestments and smelling strongly of lavender soap. After talking briefly with Ameris, Telia and their guest Alexander, the priestess would suddenly rush outside where she met a heavily armoured figure. The two would disappear out the Eastern Gate and took a boat from the Chionthar. They looked to be heading downstream towards the sea.

After having been received by the SCCE's representatives Endelyon Castillo, Alessia de Lille and Wren Di'Corvio, the hatted man is seen leaving the office and headed straight for the Blushing Mermaid. Once there he approaches the people present with inquiries, starting with the bartender, about the whereabouts of the sailor called "Rocky".

A playful, sprite of a woman - clad in hues of purple, green, and brown - watches the captain as he makes his inquiries. An inquisitive grin forms across her painted lips, before she vanishes among the crowd.

- It may be noted the woman and captain spoke at length, at a corner table. They parted ways after a time.

A follower of Tyr wearing a plain grey shirt and long brown skirt can be seen talking to the Flaming Fist and visiting several taverns asking for the origin of the writ "Beware" in her free time.
This note was apparently penned by the Black Hand and left all around the city.

Her inquiries would go on for a tenday at least.

BEWARE
The Black Hand has arrived in Baldur's Gate.

We are waiting and watching.

There's a price on every hand.

*As the citizens of the great and grand city of baldur's gate continue to go about their daily business, a white-armored knight bearing a sheathed longsword with the pommel of a golden lion and carrying a tower shield made of pure steel at his side could be seen walking the streets quite late at night, questioning the local citizenry about any unusual happenings in the city. His serious tone with them would sometimes set them off in the wrong way but he would give several gold coins to those he questions saluting to them afterwards,"In the name of the holy triad may justice, mercy, and righteousness be upon ye," clenching his fist to his chest and bowing his head after which continuing his daily patrol of the city. Despite the risk of an aggressive encounter, he would take that risk to ensure that those in the coast remain safe from the will of evil . . .*
