Thanks, I have to sticky it on my favourites somewhere. If you have something on Shilmista although I doubt it...

You can just refer to 'minor' fights against goblinoids, orcs, and their ilk.

Yes, I did that till now, although it would have been nice to be involved in the fight against Ragnor.

Although maybe it is a skirmish against Tethyr's xenophobic forces...

Wild Elves are fiercely territorial, wouldn't take much to push them into conflict with anyone and they are all generally trained to protect themselves.

I don't think you need lore backing to support your veteran status but I think there is one conflict which has been ongoing for the past two years in Tethyr. Could be interesting if that had a migratory effect involving your forest and the need to protect, or defend against now displaced elves? I have seen others RP to this effect already here on the Sword Coast ;)

Can't find if anyone else asked this before, but are all red wizards to be bald? I recall from the old times of NWN1 that I happened to meet a Red Wizard with hair. Also I wonder if females use to shave their heads :D

Thanks

Last time I checked up lore the red wizard baldness is the proper fashion.

However it is mentioned that those working outside Thay at times do let their hair grow to better blend in with the populance they are sucking dry.. er.. trading with.

Another question: are there planes in FR where time passes slower or faster compared to the material plane?
Without directly involving time traveling, let's say, could a man happen to have a son of his own age thanks to some planar mess?

Probably an easy one for the knowledgeable :

Dwarves and naming - are Dwarven surnames actual clan names? Is it rather unusual for a Dwarf not to have a surname, are those Dwarves clanless? And how do clanless dwarves fit in, how rare are they?

Manual of the Planes say that one layer of the Abyss is rumoured to have time flow backwards with regards to aging.

Other than that, I can't find anything specific. But I have read of some pocket planes with modified time flow.

I really thought I read somewhere that on some of the planes, time runs normally to you, but once you return to a "normal" plane with "normal" time, you will then see the difference (time flew by or you were only gone a minute). I'll try and look it up later.

Yeah, that's kind of the idea. Much like gravity affects time (and the perception of it). You could be on a plane where time flows twice as fast as on the Prime. You could be there 10 days and feel like 10 days had gone by, but when you'd return to the Prime, your associates there would have only percieved you as being gone for 5 days.

But I can't find any specific planes with these kinds of traits. I know there should be some demiplanes or pocketplanes with it, though...

A DM event caused a member of the Wanderess crew to live out 20 years in 20 minutes. She got aged proper, and was very confused to see everyone else [the human] to be as young as before. Luckily, said member is an elf so... not much lost after reassimilating to proper timeline! AFAIK, she was on some pocket plane within the plane of Air owned by a djinni.

So I'd say yes, some planes have a different rate of time. Some faster, some slower.

I have a question. How should someone react to seeing a warlock on the surface? I was in a low level area and someone flat out said, "You shouldn't talk to a warlock like that." and I pretty much just stopped in my tracks. I had no idea what to say or do, so I danced around the situation until I could disengage from it.

Edit: Warlock obtain their power by pacts with demons or having fey blood, right?

I have the same problem with this, and orcs, since my toon is an Elf. Can't seem to do it without feeling like an a'hole in RL, so I tend to avoid it. Any help from the higher ups would be greatly appreciated from me as well.

The first thing to consider when your PC encounters a Warlock or a Gray Orc—heaven forbid a Gray Orc Warlock...for that, your PC just implodes  —is just what does your Character know about warlocks or Gray Orcs.

In this regard, your PC's background is important. Does your PC have past experience with the brutality of Orcs? Is your PC an Elf or Dwarf, that has since birth been trained to hunt and kill Orcs with passion? Is your PC knowledgeable enough about spell casting to actually know the difference between invocations and arcane magic, or even divine magic? Would your Character be of the morality to even care?

Just because your Build has Spellcraft points, what comes up in the Combat Log does not mean that one knows everything about magic...or warlock invocations. But I digress.

In and near Baldur's Gate, there are actual Laws that define devil magic—invocations—as being illegal. Considering Server specific Lore, Orcs—because of the Black Orc—would be hated upon...and I do mean it, hated upon.

If you want to Role-play extreme hate towards a Class or a Race, as you feel it represents your Character's being in truth, then I recommend you do the opposing Player a favor and send a simple Tell that you are staying true to the nature of your Character, and that OOC, no hard feelings.

What you might gain is an actual partner in some interesting conflict Role-play, and when all the Players realize it is based in good-natured fun—though the Role-play is heated—a good gaming moment is had.

Never fear acting in-character, as all Players have the tools available to them to communicate OOC, in order to be polite and kind to each other.
