Re: NEXT UPDATE : Pack Horses
If the container is on the ground and the server crashes, will the contents be lost?
I also assume that the horse will follow its owner through all transitions? So if one goes to FAI, one should stable the horse before entering the interior or there's an awkward moment with Bentley wondering why a horse was brought inside?

Re: NEXT UPDATE : Pack Horses
I don't know how to cause a server crash so can't respond specifically to that. However, I did test leaving the horse out and then checking after reset as well as leaving the loot bag out and waiting for reset. In both cases I was able to have the stable master send someone out to locate and return my horse and all storage was still there.Glowfire wrote:If the container is on the ground and the server crashes, will the contents be lost?

As to RP of a horse being brought in doors I imagine the DM's would say something to the extent of "god modding NPC's cuz they can't react without a DM present".

Was more or less wondering if the horse always follows along... Which it seems it does! Guess one has to be mindful in places with exteriors and interiors.

Re: NEXT UPDATE : Pack Horses
When you are leading the horse it is in effect dominated and can be controlled like a summon. But I would advice people to tie down the horse before entering an inn.
Or stable it at a horse merchant. When stabled the horse is safe and not present in the game world.
When a saddlebag is on the ground the player is aware whether the contents are persisted or not.

Does opening the container bring you out of stealth (like a chest?)?
Is there any protection from player B running up and snatch-n-grabbing player A's saddle bag when it is on the ground?

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that actually. I added the same sneak removal as chests have, and a message to the owner that someone touched his stuff.Planehopper wrote:Does opening the container bring you out of stealth (like a chest?)?

Re: NEXT UPDATE : Pack Horses
Would be much funnier if you could rob the horse and/or its belongings imo. Then there might actually be highway robbery !

Re: NEXT UPDATE : Pack Horses
People can have my stored items when they pry them from my cold, dead hands. Which wont be happening because i dont carry anything aside from what i wear anyway.

Re: NEXT UPDATE : Pack Horses
I think you are free to RP a highway robbery Valefort. Just get PvP consent for it first

Re: NEXT UPDATE : Pack Horses
I can see it now:
A lonely adventure travels south on the Tradeway, his trusty pack mule by his side.
From the woods, five bandits appear, masked and with weapons drawn.
"Halt! Leave the mule and be on your way, adventurer...or there will be trouble!" Bandits emote brandishing weapons and evil-y faces of desire and greed...and perhaps murder.
Response: an emote from the adventurer of *runs away from the bandits with his pack mule in tow*.
End of highway robbery, as per the PvP consent Rules.

Re: NEXT UPDATE : Pack Horses
A bit off topic, but without those same rules...
Group of 5 epic level uber outfitted toons sit at popular transition...
1 lowly level 5 toon who just got his first packhorse and is on his way to popular location...
evil group of bandits: "Leave the Packhorse and be on your way, lest you be put down for a dirt nap...permanently"
newbie with his first level 5 toon: *attempts to flee from the group of guys with glowing weapons and armor*
evil group of bandits: Easily catch and slay the newbie
newbie with his first level 5 toon: Player logs off, never to be seen again.
Sorry, but griefing is a thing, like it or not. It's easy to say as a long time player that I wouldn't mind a more rough and tumble world, but If had been PK'd in my first couple weeks/months on the server I likely would have just found something else to do...
