May be an idea to check out the various books on planar setting: Manual of the Planes, Planar Handbook and maybe Planescape.

Savage Species has a few entries about the various celestial races (devas, archons and so on). Races of Faerûn is important as far as Aasimar go.

Other than that, I think others have made good suggestions as well.

What version of planar cosmology are we using here?

I ask because I took some ranks in lore: the planes on one of my characters. When I began reading into said lore, I not only discovered three distinct variations, but important differences between them.

Forgotten Realms campaign setting at our given date (1352 DR as of this post) ought to be the Great Wheel cosmology.

Important to note, that at this time, we have no definitve ruling regarding this manner. 3.X ed lore is usually the one used, but we do not have an offical cosmology at this time..

Do all Aasimar inherently know Celestial (and all Tieflings Infernal)? The language is obviously granted here by default but I couldn't find any info on whether that's actually a thing, lore-wise.

Thank you in advance!

Races of Faerun p113
Language and Literacy
Aasimar have no cultural language, although those that realize their heritage usually learn Celestial. An aasimar usually learns the language of her parents and may pick up other languages appropriate to her region.
All aasimar are literate, except for barbarians.
I think its a server thing that aasimars receive Celestial. I know of people who have roleplayed not knowing the language on their character because they don't know they're an aasimar.
Power is the most persuasive rhetoric.

Hello,

Are there any communities for gnomes on the server's timeline. I believe Corm Orp and Gullykin are for Halfling, but there are bits of lore that contradict itself concerning Gullykin's occupants.

I do see that there is a Halfling group/guild forming. Is it strictly Halfling? Or just wee folk in general?

I believe Kraak Helzak is a city state, sort of. A dwarven kingdom which allows gnome residents. True? Is it a citzenship guild? Im not sure what their guild purpose is from the guild page.

Edit: And I think Rockrun is strictly svirfneblin, correct?

Any help?

Races of Faerûn say (if I recall correctly) that there are very few Rock Gnome towns and communities. Gnomes tend to mingle among the other races, which is one of the reasons they have been given the name "the Forgotten Folk" (where the elves are "the Fair Folk" and the dwarves are "the Stout Folk").

But Races of Faerûn is really the only real source on Gnomes in Forgotten Realms, so it is hard to find anything more about them than that.

- Kraak Helzak is a city faction (as in not a guild proper) It's a Dwarven city that opened it's doors to all clan and clanless, a city not ruled by one clan. Their purpose is a place for kin to have a home of their own, and mutual protection and comradeship. It's in short it's an alliance, and at base level does not restrict members from joining other guilds.
They opened their doors to Gnome members and started building a section for Gomes to make a home a few years back.
If you have any questions you can PM me, I'd be happy to help with as much detail as you'd like to know.

- The Gnome Baeruansback-clans live in the western Trielta Hills. Those are hills between the reaching woods and Forest of Wyrms, but that's not an area built on the server. There a rather secretive lot, keeping their homes hidden from others.

Currently playing a priest of Istishia, I've come across a few doubts regarding the deity's "agenda". It gets a bit more confusing with all the other Faerunian water gods and their closer presence to their followers.
I've read beforehand that elemental gods can be/are slightly distant and/or uncaring towards their followers in Faerûn, but I couldn't confirm it.

Can someone can help with more sources and information regarding this?

Hi,

We can talk more over PMs, as I currently play and have played a few Istishians, and collected as much lore as you can find.

Great source, Steve. Thanks! I'd really appreciate if we could discuss more of it.

I'm not sure if this is the right topic for this, but I'd like to ask a few questions about different kind of magics.

Blood magic is forbidden, necromancy is frowned upon, but what about shadow magic, or anything that draws power from the plane of shadow. Shadowdancers and Assassins both use abilities/spells like that. Assassins for an example have arcane spells, but they aren't exactly the same as the wizard/sorc spells.

I played my toon a few days back and when another player thought I was a wizard-like spellcaster, I wasn't sure about it, so I went with the "Something like that" answer, but what'd happen if I encountered an actual wizard or anyone with decent spellcraft/lore:arcane? How is it perceived by them?
