Fliers advertising opportunities to advance one's lifestyle through employment with the Darkwoods Syndicate would be seen recently around Sshamath.

Inquiring minds might be pointed to tiny drow jaluk with an expensive taste in haberdashery who had been seen handing them off to various messengers and the Darkwood's Districts impoverished children for further distribution.

A male shirtless drow was heard at Gloura's Wings mentioned an endless stream of goblins, going about having killed a ridiculous amount of goblins in the tunnels, he and another male rivvil were heard talking about the fact and then they were seen leaving the tavern and taking the portal in Sshamath towards the Western Tunnels.

A persistent topic of conversation throughout the taverns and social hubs within Sshamath revolves around the emergence of a new clan of grey dwarves. The competition for access to precious ores within the caverns of the Underdark has instigated a new rivalry amongst the stout folk. It is rumored that blood has already been shed between opposing clans within the bowels of the world. In addition to this much speculation swirls about the presence of several adventurers amidst the clashing of duergar.

Who they may be, or what they were doing there. . .is anyone’s guess.

Very frustrated reports are being circulated in commercial circles regarding the incidence of gol attacks on trading convoys. Those who travel in small groups are advised to rest in shifts and either be heavily armed or subcontract out to security forces. So far no less than 13 merchant caravans have been tragically overrun with the total losses estimated to be in the millions. Additionally, several groups of seasoned adventurers have been ambushed suddenly and with devastating effect. Despite their diminutive size and stature, the gols pose as a deadly enemy in great numbers.

The painted drowby known as Aunrae, upon hearing this news, begins asking questions to the local guards and merchants: where exactly these goblins have been sighted, where survivors of these attacks might be found, and any mention of portals or a master to these goblins. Passing adventurers would be asked this as well. She would also pay attention to the whispers of grey dwarves roaming the tunnels.

A small drow male, the velg'glarn (assassin) Sz'wit, has begun trapping side tunnels off the main trade routes using snares and entangling traps. He checks the traps every cycle, replacing them as necessary, hoping to catch one of the gol.

It is rumoured that Qu'ellar Zau'afin fell under assault from a horde of gol this past cycle, and utterly destroyed the horde. The tunnels leading up to the compound reek with the stench of blood and the island has many unrecognizable chunks of meat scattered around piles of crushed gol. In the aftermath, Zau'afin patrols have increased in number and more Stonespear gol than normal are falling to Drow blades.

Sz'wit, a small drow male in black leathers, hooded and closed in a long piwafwi, carried a paralyzed, bound and gagged gol over his shoulder into The City. He made way through the Varalla's guard checkpoint, unmolested, and thereafter had easily or perhaps deliberately, been lost to the crowds...

"Another bloodbath at the Stonespear compound" Said a voice at Gloura's Wings, that voice then became whispers, then silence.

Further delving into the Stonespear compound would reveal veritable piles of gol, trolls, hobgoblins, ogre, and oddly driders and illithid. It is obvious that the Zau'afins responded in kind to the attack on their stronghold, due to the bloodbath that has taken place.

Libraries in and around Sshamath are abuzz with activity as a large contingent of drow wizards scour shelves and troves for ancient text. The wizards would bear no identifying marks or heraldry but only discreetly declare when asked that they serve Archmage Jhaldrym from the School of Conjuration and Summoning. Most notably, this archmage could also be seen in several of these libraries overseeing research operations in restricted sections.

West of S'shamath, another caravan burns.

A jaluk and a jabress investigate, the perpetrators known, they quickly dissappear into the shadows of the Underdark.

A hulking orc clad in the glint of steel trimmed with the luster of violet has been encountered by several dark elves of late in various locales around the wilds of the Underdark as well as within the bazaar. Those engaging him in conversation have found him to be especially articulate for one of his kind, slow to speak and thoughtful. He is guarded with his words and wary of the dark elves though given their nature for enslaving the lesser races, who can blame him. He carries a massive trident and quietly utters prayers to the Nightlord, intoning him as the Great Lord of the Dark.

A male figure dressed in black can be seen many times hunting goblins near Quellar Zau'afin, sometimes alone, sometimes acompanied, he usually avoids the Quellar itself but patrols the goblin caves close to them religiously, he usually dissapears in the shadows and moved around stalking the goblins and sometimes just waiting and watching them.

The incidence of goblin attacks has diminished considerably thanks to various independent agents and an outright assault from House Zau'afin. However, those traversing the caverns near and within Goblin Lake would no doubt notice a considerable increase in the presence of carrion crawlers. In fact they have become so numerous that it would be nigh impossible to travel to or through he area without enduring their vicious and hungry attacks. Furthermore, the very same caverns reek of fleshy decay and corporeal rot. Perhaps the piles of decomposing corpses outside of the Qu'ellar Zau'afin walls has something to do with that?
