In the FR setting is there an island akin to our world's New Zealand, and do these magical electrical sheep inhabit it?

What would it take to ascend wizard's familiar to godhood?

I was thinking of The Chrysalids when I answered. Excellent book - makes you think...

An act of a god I would say. That, or the familiar was already a god in some form, walking with the wizard in mortal form.... I am thinking now of my elven cat suddenly looking up at me, purring and blinking, rubbing her head against my hand, and announcing casually that she is an avatar of Mystra. Ya, inferred, infused, imbued, and always otherwise ordained by a god before it happens. The warg who suddenly becomes an avatar of Grummish also is kind of a cool idea.... you are giving me event ideas which is dangerous as the last Drow party I ran through a dungeon crawl can attest to...

While we're on the subject, Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep?

Of course not! They count them to go to sleep!
Arkanis. What's the extent of Baldur's Gate's legal authority? I'm told Amn's stops right at Beregost. Does the Gate stop at Wyrm's Crossing, leaving the Tradeway between those two points as wholly lawless zones (besides the FAI, which has its own thing going)? I ask for matters of dealing with banditry and other such offenses on the fly. (REPENT!)

What a nifty little thread (and I use the term 'little'
very loosely considering the almost fifty pages of it!) I've read the first couple pages and and the last couple pages, and I've been highly entertained. Kudos!
As to my query... do PCs still have the opportunity to be ennobled / titled here? When I was last here, my PC had gotten started in a plot towards that goal, but then
things happened and the Head DM who had been running the plot was no longer a part of the Staff. I'm curious as to whether I can attempt to work towards that IC goal again or if the practice has been stopped.

Hello and thanks

The intent is for this thread to be light-hearted and fun. I'd like to say witty but I am pretty much a dull-pencil in that department.
You can role-play your character any way you like; Queen of Sheeba, Lord of the Universe, Jack of Spades, etc. but it does not necessarily, "make-it-so" in terms of your character sheet stats though. You must play what is there, and special names/titles do have to be DM approved and/or conferred on your character otherwise they fall under the illegal name part of the Rules. How do I get a title/special name? Role playing definitely, but seeking DM-team approval is necessary as well. Writing a good bio/back story does not automatically grant you titles either.... "Coming from Fair Cormyr, Justin the Paladin rides into Baldur's Gate upon a white desrider steed and proclaims himself, Duke of Everything." Doesnt make you a Duke no matter how well you can write.

Creative role play, convincing back story, time in the server role playing with others, DM approval are all elements of how your character evolves and titles/special names granted. I would add that guild membership and participation can also assist in that goal as well but the titles are usually restricted to that guild, i.e. "High Magistrate of the Troop of Great Guys Who Think Flowers And Other Things Smell Nice" for example.

This does not necessarily reflect a change to your character's name on your character sheet BTW but rather an ability to role-play titles/special names that are credible. Besides a title of, "Larger Than Life Living Legend" won't fit in the character name place on your sheet.

ps VanillaRose settle in with a cold drink, some music and/or telly on in the background and read the other 49 pages - some good stuff in terms of players questions in there

What gods do the Bugbears in Thunder's Ride worship, if any, and do any of them share common goals with non-banned gods in Duchal lands?

Hey Ark,
It's been a while since I've tapped your Vault of Knowledge.
I've done the reading here on the forums and some in the greater realm of the internet but couldn't really find anything to answer my question:
What are some examples of terms and conditions would a fey pact outline?

Apologies I missed your question.
The moive, "Blade Runner" based on the book is one of my all time favourite movies. It stirs our imaginations to conceptualize a time when artificial life created by humanity could have it's own conscious, or in this case, state of un or sub-scious. One of the reasons I love the new BSG too - the skin-jobs were great.
When I eventually meet an android cognizant enough, I am going to ask them just what they dream about.

I have to refer you to other parts of the forums that talk about this in particular. Check ElfSong Tavern, Rumours, and other threads about this - (OSR has some stuff too.) This is a really um, sensitive? suibject and I don't want to wade into the discussion here.
