So I just joined this community, wanted to get a feel for the people who played here.... what do you do? Go into IRC of course. I try to talk and ask questions, get accused of trolling and banned.

Such friendly people you have here.

I am very sorry to hear this. As a rule the IRC is a a tool available to community members and interested people, but it is not representantive of the community or even moderated to any large extent. In essence it is entirely volunteer run.

If misbehaviour occurs there (as anywhere) it is best to contact a Dungeon Master so that the matter can be looked into.

I suppose the first post should be updated to give a warning that there is no profanity filter or rules on the IRC channel. But it's kind of implied already.

That said, I think this case in particular is based on a misunderstanding. We're really all a largely cheerful bunch. Except me - I'm cynical and too serious. But we're usually friendly and help new people.
