I like the toggle idea, though I think that modifying the consent time is also a good idea.

I am going to make a poll to cover all the options discussed to gauge interest and opinion.

If you want to permanently consent to PVP, you can sign up in the PVP Club, or you could even write it down as your status in the DMFI Locator widget. There's no need to ask the dev team to script it in.
I just don't think it's necessary.
Also, it doesn't address the current issue at hand: how long do we want PVP consent to last?

Yes, true, but it does address all the posters in this thread that want to be rid of the PvP consent rules...they wave their right by clicking the status button.

Maybe it's just time to bring back the arena in Baldur's Gate. ;)

i thought about something else

what about lying?

like saying you will let someone live if they do whatever and the person does it and goes to run and you shoot them in the back and take their stuff

completely legit IC thing to do one would think... :?

and for time i know i wouldnt mind no time limit, but i think the 12 hr one would work also

Again, you can waive PvP consent already. Just sign up for the PvP Club, or mark it as your status in the DMFI Widget. In the DMFI, it should suffice to write "PVP OK," or even "Come at me bro."

Off-topic: If it was up to me back then, they never would have removed the arena. Gods, it was awesome.
Anyone remember that big PvP tournament hosted there, way back when? Yeah. Charraj got stomped. Good times.
Isn't there an arena in Roaringshore now, though?

If the target hasn't somehow already consented to PvP, I guess the liar's out of luck. *shrugs*
We could come up with a lot of pretty specific scenarios that aren't covered perfectly by a PvP consent system. But let's not.
On the other hand, the scenario proposed by Broham2's OP probably happens relatively often (one party is often disadvantaged in any given conflict), so that's why we're discussing it.

Come at me bro.
This should def be the green-light for PvP status.

What was the reasoning behind the arena being removed anyway? Just never used?

There is the arena in Roaringshore, but its not nearly as big or 'arena-like'. Its cool, reminds me of the pits in the Gladiator series (RIP Mr Whitfield) but the arena was the shiz. Lots of good times there.

We used to use it a lot as I recall. I remember my first time when S'ment and Lore McWebber (I forget our third teammate) won their class. Definitely good memories. :)

the entire area was removed was more the issue and the arena just so happened to be in it, they wanted to consolidate unused BG areas

we also lost the temple of umberlee because of it too :(

The Roaringshore pit prevents spell-casting, but not feat use, ie can't cast create greater undead but you can use the PM feat without a hitch.

Wouldn't mind seeing a gladiatorial pit too.

yea, class abilities, and feat based spells are not subject to 100% ASF mechanics wise, since they are not "spells"

that goes for PM, assassin and epic spells, probably all of UMD usage also someone told me another guy used UMD on them in that place to find them so...

RS may have a dueling pit but it is by no means meant for everyone with the ASF restriction

There is a way you can do it using the spellhook, but I'm pretty sure its not set up for this.

Spellhook > itemproperty ASF
