DM Arrakeen wrote:Over the last three tendays, rat population in the city and its sewers has been almost annihilated. It is being said, that the disease which spread among the rats and from them across the population of home pets and farm animals took a deadly toll mostly among rodents. Many pets and farm animals have been reported sick. However, symptoms they are showing remain only mild to serious in comparison to how the disease manifested itself among rats. Only really old and very young specimens are in an actual risk of death. Fortunately thanks to the efforts of druids and rangers the disease has stopped spreading so rapidly. In many cases timely offered aid helped saving cattle, horses and swines.

Rumor has it that alchemist Maddy Thunderkeg and healer Wendy Sky are working on a curative as well as regenerative potions. Right now the two "researchers" are performing tests on the two rat subjects caught by ranger Michael Dunn.

There is also one more, rather odd rumor, about an elven druidess mothering a new, possibly immune to the plague litter of rats. According to some sources, she wants to release the rats when they reach maturity back into their natural habitat. All that in order to restore the natural balance in the urban ecosystem.

Some miles away from the town in the parts of the farmlands that haven't suffered by the Blight.......

......the Foresters of the Gate lead by Vendor Xon are looking for saplings.....

....of different kind of trees. The young trees, of course only those that can be rooted out without taking damage, will be planted at the destroyed farlmlands around Baldur's Gate.

Eastern Farmlands
OOC Time: 5th March.

Azune can be seen running around Eastern Farmlands and near Radiant Heart Stronghold, cleaning up remaining garbage. She tried to ask fellow adventurers for help, but all of them were busy, so she had to do everything on her own.

Many people met at the farmlands to join the ritual which the High Druidess Nai would lead. The Call of Oak, Ash and Thorn is a prayer to Silvanus, wherein a priest gathers leaves of the three named sorts of trees, floats them on water, and entreats Silvanus to hear a prayer.
Image
After Nai and the rangers from the Elder Circle had handed out the sacred leaves to everyone, they made their way to the Water Cave in the Thundars Ride. There the feral elven druidess began the ritual with her prayer to the Oak Father.
Image
One after another placed the leaves to the source of the water that feeds the farmlands. Many prayers to the Oak Father and to many other deities were spoken before Nai asked the participants to leave. For to complete the Call of Oak, Ash and Thorn she had to speak to Silvanus all alone.
Image
The High Ranger Vendor Xon lead the company back to the Farmlands where saplings waited for them. As they arrived he asked everyone to plant a tree. He told them that they have to take care for the sapling as they would grow to a great tree. They had to look for places that were tainted badly, speak a prayer, use a remove disease, a heal spell or a blessed potion to clean the soil, dig a hole and plant the tree.
So they divided into small groups, and all around the farmlands people where seen planting their tree. Prayers were spoken and some even gave names to their new fosterlings or sit by them for a while.
Than Nai returned with many seeds after she had finished the ritual. More Sowing in the fields was done, and the High Druidess planted her tree as well. After everything was fine she shifted into a water elemental and watered the young trees and the fields.
Nai and Vendor Xon thanked everyone for the help and told them that it was only a push to the land as nature will recover itself. Now it would be up to the farmers to cultivate the fields and begin the sowing for the incoming harvest.

After the recent efforts of adventurers, purportedly lead by Baldurian concerned members of The Elder Circle, to purify remaining blight in the earth of the Farmlands around Baldur's Gate, it seems that blight in the soil where it still exists seems to be rapidly receding and at this rate may be replaced by healthy plant and dirt within a few tenday so it would seem.

It also seems that volunteer trash collection efforts by adventurers are bearing fruit in and around Baldur's Gate, with garbage and rubble left from the siege seeming to be likely eliminated from the area within a few tenday as well when combined with efforts of city administration.

While some needed building material stockpiles are formed about the area of Baldur's Gate and some Thayan construction golems and Kraak Helzak dwarven engineers and laborers are seen rebuilding some aspects of the city and its Farmlands, there still seems to be much effort remaining needed to see the city and its environs reconstructed after the destruction of the siege, with coordination, laborers, and materials still in demand in various aspects of city reconstruction.

DM Golem wrote:Rumours spread of the trade route through Thundar's Ride being patrolled, although not by Baldur's Gate or some other settlement.

Caravan drivers speak of a body of eight or so dark clad warriors who area seen walking the route - slowly, it must be said - and hunting and killing any bugbears or similar hazards who stray too close.

Although the caravan drivers do not speak of ever seeing the mercenaries actively seeking out battle, they do say these soldiers are contributing to keeping the trade route itself safe.

When hailed, the warriors state they march under the banner of the Ebon Blade, and its generous captain. Although they are quick to say their blades will be red, if they get any trouble, no reports come back of these soldiers acting as bandits or the like.

There is some talk of how disturbed Thundar's Ride has been over the last few years, wtih infighting amongst the humanoids and then the impact of the recent war against the undead. Some caravan drivers wonder if this armed human presence might provoke a reaction from the tribes; others suggest it might keep them firmly down.
It can be noted that the path to Soubar from Baldur's Gate has been much safer thanks to the efforts of the Ebon Blade. There is also talk of these fine mercenaries guarding the town of Soubar from the raiding Goblins and the like Keeping the once rowdy frontier village safer than it has been in the past.

Syracuse wrote:In the small hours of night fall, two elves can be seen departing the temple of mystery. In their care, a rabbit and a woven basket of reeds.

Few might see the contents of the basket as the moon elf flipped the lid open, depositing several rats along the cobbled stone street. She spends a great deal of time stroking their heads before heaving a door into the sewer ways open. The rats are sent scurrying into the night, while the moon and sun elf watch.

The two speak quietly under the moon and stars for quite some time, with one of their voices sounding upset. The pair depart to their respective worships. The sun elf, to the temple of Mystra, and the moon elf to the woods outside the Gate.

The druid Araulan and the Halfling potionmaster Maddy of the Phoenix Company are seen spending the better part of the day wandering all around the city pouring cure disease and restoration potions into the wells and various other water sources where animals go to drink.

DM Arrakeen wrote:Most of the livestock seems to be doing much better. Cows started giving milk and hens are laying eggs once more. Farm folks are offering prayers in the name of those who helped them and deliver them to the statue of Chauntea.

Not every animal, however, has been cured. Few farmers reported that although most of their livestock appear cured about every fifth animal died rather quickly after consuming the curative.

DM Arrakeen wrote:In the last three tendays, two relocations of children have taken place.

The first one involved a move of 30 charges (36 in total) from the core Orphanage building to Pathfinder Hall.

The second one was arranged by Emissary of Greyfox Tribe and successfully led to a relocation of 9 children.
Emissary Nerys of Greyfox Tribe, Telia Santraeger, Lion Blade Dorne and a young ilmatari Anne together with nine kids teleported out of the city farmlands. At the temporary camp new member of the tribe were greeted by chieftain Cynric and other tribesmen. A feast followed after the introductions.

With another dozen of kids starting apprenticeships or finding employment in various places all around the city the number of charges is slowly going down thanks to various initiatives arranged by people of Baldur's Gate.

In the dusty Troll Claws somewhere north west of Kraak Helzak a dwarf and a ranger follow the tracks of trolls.
Image
After a short hunt and a heavy fight, the two continue their plan. Carefully they sneak further north to get closer to the Keep of Kheldrivver.
Image
In the shadow of the night and hidden by heavy rain the two invisible stalkers try to get as close as possible. The information they gather will be important for Reine's plan.

They spend much time patrolling the sewers under the East Gate district for anything unusual with Ameris, at least, wearing true seeing magic as part of the search. A side goal is to supress any violent cuthroats encountered, who might be plaguing the rumoured poor population that has taken up residence in the sewers. Indeed, another goal is to identify if there are indeed any poor or sick residing in the sewers, so that Brother Sigma can work on bringing Ilmatari charity to them.

After the sweep of the East Gate sewers, they head into the palace district sewers. From there, they find a tunnel down...

They emerge from the depths some time later, covered in the filth of the sewers, the Dawnknight wearing a vexed expression.
