"You have my sincerest thanks for the several leads you have given me here, and your forwardness," she replied with her usual militaristic nod. "Both Charisa Flomeigne and Aeric are names I am recently acquainted with so I shall endeavour to double check that avenue of inquiry. I shall make a report to my superiors in the church and see if we cannot redeploy a few additional knights from the front lines in the Tethyrian civil war. That may take some time, however, given the priority of that conflict, but I will try to mobilise whatever forces the Bishou sees fit to give me. Thank you again, and we will be in contact soon."

She clapped her heels together, slapping her breastplate with an open right palm in Helmite salute, pausing a moment in case there was any final words to be said as she looked ready to depart once more.

Caed Wynter-Rose, Windspell Knight of the Manus Triune, is seen packing his gear and taking to the Tradeway road, heading north. He is alone—no other companions, be they Windspell Adventurers or not, accompany him...perhaps upon his way a traveler or two might match paths, but it is not now, as he stamps earth, leaving the Friendly Arm Inn behind.

His travelers' pouch is large, such that he must be taking with him things of importance, enough to trudge with a weight and burden upon his shoulders. But the strength this knight has earned keeps him steady on the road, and with sure hand upon the hilt of his family blade—should any accost him, he is at the ready.

In some time, as it would seem, he would arrive again back at Baldur's Gate...and further to reside again at the shelter for the Windspells, that being the Blade & Stars Inn.

"Tis not a better place, that I can imagine returning too...," says Caed Wynter-Rose, Windspell knight of the Manus Triune, for all that might hear, as he steps into the Blade & Stars Inn, the de facto residence of the Windspell Adventurers' Guild, where a glowing warmth hangs in the air, along with the sweet smell of fresh bread, most likely being prepared for the evening meals delivered to the rooms of current residents.

With a wide smile, Caed stomps dust from the road from his boots, and scrapes the soles against the welcoming rug, before closing the door solidly behind him. As he enters further within the Inn, Caed catches the eyes of Hesper, the friend and sometimes city "guide" to the Windspells, as the guild has made attempts—with successes and failures—to establish and grow within the Gate, having taken one of its streets for a namesake. Hesper, cool and wise with years of time seeing the brave and foolish come and go through his doors, reacts to Caed with a consistency that is both comforting and cold, but such shall it be.

"A warm drink, my friend, please....," requests Caed, looking to offer greater connection with the innkeep through his chosen words, "as finally, the winds are turning cold, as the autumn has finally taken hold upon the land."

After clearing the bar, Caed makes his way to the hearth, facing directly the shrine that he has build upon the shelf above the fireplace. With eyes upon the three gauntlets poised and presented there, he gives a slight bow of respect. Perhaps...even a few whispers in prayer escape barely moving lips, though it may be just shadows made upon his face from the flames.

Caed retreats a few steps to the bench facing the fireplace, and reclines into it with a sigh of comfort. Soon, a warmed cider is left on the side table near him, and Caed, though alone in the area often occupied by the Windspells, he face shows a dedicated mind...perhaps he has returned from his latest travel to Beregost with knowledge of importance, that which keeps him in company, though now acting on his own.

A fortnight past, the Windspell Adventurers' Guild were seen within the Friendly Arm Inn, practically interrogating Bentley, over the "haunting" that Bentley adamantly spoke of with the Inn...and blamed some Hooded Elf over...at least, complained A LOT.

So the Windspells questioned and probed Bentley, and loudly—others in the Inn soon came to over hear what was being discussed.

It would seem that the Windspells believe Bentley or the Friendly Arm, carries a secret which is, for lack of better description, like a magnet to the evil and undead forces under guidance by the infamous Polvich.

Bentley was coy in his answers...which only fueled some of the Windspells direct and unsatisfied manner within the conversation.

Notes were taken....

The door to the Blade & Stars flings open, with a wind gust preceding the armored man who enters. Hesper stands at this post, staring and without moving—is it a long stare in silence upon an appearing face not seen in nearly five years, or....

The armored man approaches Hesper, and without any extra introduction or even proper greeting—almost with stern possession guiding the arrival—the armored man asks: "Do you still have the ledger?"
Image

A large tome is provided to the man and and placed on the desktop. Leaning over in concentration, the armored man writes out a few simple words. It is signed by the name Caed Wynter-Rose. Hesper observes this, but seems to only react in blinks of semi-disbelief. This...Caed...then nods with more recognition and even breaks a slight smile to Hesper, closing the ledge and passing it slightly back across the countertop toward the bartender.

Image

Caed moves to the center of the main room, and sits his fully armored self onto one of the chairs near the fireplace, orienting toward the main entry door to the Blade & Stars.

He seems to then do nothing more but stare, and wait.

Between the Past and the Present....Chapter I

Starring: Caed Wynter-Rose and Garlic Rana

Special Guests: Declan Nash and Sane Fensen

Image

It is within the deep summer month of the Highsun, the year 1358 DR, to be known as the Year of Shadows, that a renewed journey nearly matching the first ever taken by the Windspells, commences. It is by far more solemn, as only two travel together at this moment, each burdened by the weight of the failing Weave, in their respective way.

This initial step is marked by the duo's quest for information, with a detour fulfilling such desire by one Declan Nash, bringing the Windspells into the Biblioteca, for a time, for moment of research. Though what was first sought in books was soon found in social interaction, and the two Windspells were better directed on their way towards the great edifice named Candlekeep.

The journey south along the Tradeway was marked by a stop-over at the Friendly Arm Inn, where a "man of nature" guided the duo further south, giving free advice that was no cost to the naturalist.

Upon final arrival at Candlekeep, even before rest, the Windspells introduce themselves to a man very much seeming like a gate-keeper of sorts, requesting of this Gorion for an audience with one named Edelgarde, who has been twice recommended as a great scribe and they that may hold many truths...solutions to puzzles that now drive the Windspells onward in the present time.

They await their moment of reception.

Between the Past and the Present....Chapter II

Starring: Caed Wynter-Rose and Garlic Rana

Special Guests: Scribe Edelgarde and Apprentice William

Image

A meeting is granted with the Scribe Edelgarde. Polite and curious to the Windspell's visit and sense of urgency, she makes them comfortable and at ease within the Inn of Candlekeep.

The discussion is immediate and in-depth—patrons of the Inn likely curious and amused by the words spoken amongst the three. For there are words spoken often, aloud and with poignancy that easily are picked up by others about: Tablets of Fate...balance...Mystra...Weave...chaos...Limbo...Slaadi...dreams...the ethereal...magic...the High One....

The conversation is later expanded when an apprentice of the Scribe joins the meeting for a time, where possible new connections are made among the Windspells.

After some hours, and after a book is gifted to the Scribe causing new wonder in the reception, the four part ways. For the Scribe, there was a journey to be made. For the apprentice...a choice to travel as well, for a meeting again with the Windspells. For the Windpsell duo Caed and Garlic...their expressions shown a determination, a concentration to continue what has been recently started: a new adventure.

The duo soon depart Candlekeep for a return journey back to Baldur's Gate.

Between the Past and the Present....Chapter III, Scene I

Starring: Caed Wynter-Rose and Garlic Rana

Special Guests: The Wizard Sirion

Image

The Windspells gather within the Blade & Stars in—as usual...—to speak of recent individual efforts. As well, to inquire with Hesper if other Windspells from a time long past, have heeded the current call. It is Garlic Rana who also checks if the apprentice named William had come calling upon the Windspells as well—it would seem not.

A initial loose discussion in front of the ever-glowing fireplace turned quickly in a plan of three particular steps, to undertake, immediately, in...whatever order the wind and luck took them, once exiting the Inn.

As it would turn out, there was some Weave-pull directing them, and the Windspells soon found themselves within the Temple of Mystra, looking for a meeting or word of a Priest of the High One, that being Azuth, the protector of spellcasters. Answering their call upon use of a magic orb, the wizard Sirion appeared to greet them, and...a conversation deep into the chaos of the Weave, the chaos opening up along the Coast, and the chaos...of Being, was had.

Though the Windspells did not find what they initially sought out there, they did gain a gift, provided by the Wizard. Perhaps a piece of the puzzle gained; perhaps the puzzle gained enlarged borders.

The Windspells were last seen further venturing out to errands within the Gate....

Between the Past and the Present....Chapter III, Scene II

Starring: Caed Wynter-Rose and Garlic Rana

Special Guests: Jak Dimburrow

Image

The Windspells entered the Vale Estate in the Palace District, having been given in that location by the Wizard Sirion some time earlier in order to locate the one called the "Old Man," who as the wizard expressed, was most likely to know any Priest of the High One. As well, a recent response to another related search also directed the two Windspells to the estate, which was determined by the duo to be an obvious sign of good Winds of Fate, guiding them.

Within the estate they were greeted by a Jak Dimburrow, he that wrote the response to the Windspells. They sat and discussed for a time all that had brought the Windspells there, and it would seem the trio were reaching some conclusion to one thing or another until....when Dimburrow was hastily called away....

The Windspells had not yet located of spoken with the "Old Man." They made sure the butler was informed, and so they sat comfortably and waited upon the couches, idly chatting.

Garlic Rana, the Windspell gnome, made some travel south and back to Baldur's Gate, making a stop in Nashkel, Beregost and the FAI.
At these settlements, he went to public places where mostly there is space for him to unfold a scroll and pin it to a message board or a suitable wall.
It reads :
"If you are looking to find the lost knowledge on the Sword Coast and adventure of a ever-going Quest, welcome to the Windspell!
Meet us or leave a message to Hesper at the Blade and Stars Inn!

Between the Past and the Present....Chapter III, Scene III

Special Guests: Jak Dimburrow, Lord Osric Vale & Manaav Deineer

The Windspells remained at the Vale Estate in the Palace District, where they were eventually greeted by the Lord of the House, plus Jak Dimburrow, as well as a arcanist of the Mystran Temple, Maraav.

They spoke for some time...but it was apparent soon enough that their prime objective of speaking with the "Old Man"—now learned to be a Sir Fenwick—would not happen then and there.

Considering the group spoke for some time, there was much of shared interest between the various representatives of house, temple and guild.

But as the duo Windspells were leaving, it was heard from Caed to speak to his compatriot Garlice: "Well my friend...again we have loose ends." Nonetheless the duo parted ways agreeing to see each other again at the Blade & Stars within a few days.

Between the Past and the Present....Chapter IV, Scene I

Starring: Caed Wynter-Rose and Garlic Rana

Special Guests: Julian Strand, Momo, Batruc Yorr, William Jensen, Layla Zaisis

The Windspells began this new chapter of action at the Blade & Stares Inn...and ended it there as well, improved, uplifted and enlightened. But to get from there to...there....

Caed and Garlic spoke of recent events, notably Caed sharing with Garlic the rumor of more appearances of chaos physically manifested and now even closer to home. The Windspells set out to speak with House Vale yet again, but their path was halted by surprise.

It was efforts of recruitment, of discussions, of diplomacy...all taking place within the Wide of Baldur's Gate, as the at-first-just-the Windspells Caed Wynter-Rose and Garlic Rana solicited—or were solicited...—help, by any that would look the part of an "Adventurer. Again, the Winds of Fate as the Eldritch Knight Caed often says, blew good fortune upon them. It was also helped that Garlic was so very skilled in aspects of Lore.

As the scene of two Windspells started with two, did said scene end with five, with the Windspell Guild of Adventurers becoming three, perhaps before not too very long, it would be at least four....

The rumor of Creatures of Chaos appearing within the Gate and attacking the Vale Estate, so closely after the Windspell meeting over...related magicks, caused great concern among the four that met within the tavern of the Blade & Stars. A motion was made to investigate further.

At the estate, with none available at that time to speak with, the Windspells carried on with just their eyes and ears—applying natural skills of observation—though, coming away with little result.

Any that passed through the streets this night near the Vale Estate would have seen if not heard the trio of Windspells debating and arguing aloud the issue at hand: how could a guild of users of the Art and the Power, continue to act when their feats and magics were currently outlawed within the walls of the Gate?!?

At some point, these three seem to latch onto an idea or a quest for further action, that satisfied them in the moment, though they failed to reach any progress.

Rumor had it that some of the Windspells later attended a grand opening....

Between the Past and the Present....Chapter IV, Scene III

Starring: Garlic Rana, Caed Wynter-Rose

Special Guests: Janice the Librarian & the Scribe Edelgarde

Image

The Windspell duo of Garlic Rana and Caed Wynter-Rose exited the Blade & Stars without accompaniment of Batruc Yorr this day, and headed straight to the Shelf of Many Books, a destination often visited in the past. There, the duo spoke with Janice and browsed titles...finding little of what they researched from the librarians list, but...the Shelf had so many...shelves...and by browsing by purposed section, Caed finally came upon a tome citing current history of Sembia, and furthermore the city Saerloon...and even further more from that, description of the House of the High One therein...and far beyond further, names of those Faithful to Azuth, that would suffice for that which the Windspells aimed to achieve.

In turn, a trek was again had south—this time by boat and then foot—to arrive at Candlekeep, calling again upon the Scribe Edelgarde, to receive advise on the practice of certain spell casting, and...to what aid Candlekeep provided to a spell caster, or could provide, or would provide, and even NOT provide....

Soon after their meeting, the Windspells took a room, for greater concentration needed to be had. Aided by amulet and hoping for divine support in the matter, on the direction by Garlic, the Eldritch Knight Caed commenced to send his thoughts to the first name from the list of names that may receive their query on the High One himself, his blessings...his protections.

The though range out into the ether...Thelcaunt — The Windspells Guild of Baldur's Gate, request your help to know of the High One, or, to receive his blessing of protection.

Caed sat back, looked at Garlic...and they waited on their chance that the Weave, bolstered by the aura of Deneir within Candlekeep, carried their magic Sending the required distance, and matched the target.

Between the Past and the Present....Chapter IV, Scene IV

Starring: Batruc Yorr, Garlic Rana, Caed Wynter-Rose

Special Guests: William Jansen, Flaming Fist (DM Spartacus), Isida Hashtep, Jabari, Xvart Burning Village & Caravan (DM Ink)

Image

The Windspell duo of Garlic Rana and Caed Wynter-Rose began the moment by once again visiting the street in front of the Vale Estate. Having acquired a device that would allow them to detect magic lingering from the event of the "flesh" beast appearing from out of thin air—an attempt to learn of its plane of origin, its plane of existence.

This activity was soon monitored by a contingent of Flaming Fist battlemages, whom upon reviewing the activity of the Windspells, warned them to contact the City Services and inquire if the current Law against magic casting could be temporarily lifted for the Windspells investigative work. To quote..."First ask of the City what has been discovered that is our considered advice and ruling..."

Afterwards, with their common compatriot , the Windspells conversed with a Isida Hashtep of the Thayan Enclave, who could on the promise of payment, deliver to the Windspells any information from within Thay about a possible location for the God Azuth.

Soon, the Windspells grew to a trio with the arrival of Batruc, and a further plan was devised to follow up on the other recent knowledge gained that a likely point of magic focus for the Windspells goals, could be the Ruins of Ulcaster, an ancient wizard of conjuration magics. The Windspells plus friend decided to prepare for a long journey...and one where magics may be the least reliable.

Upon arrival in Beregost, the Windspells were asked to assist with an investigation of recently erected barricades from near the valley to the Xvart Village. As this was along their own route, they joined with an archer named Jabari, to determine the situation.

Quickly upon arriving, the Windspells et al were attacked by archers and Xvart Elite soldiers, often causing the Windspells to retreat to safety behind said barricades, until a plan of scouting and routing the Xvarts could be made.

It was enacted with some success, until...the group came upon an odor of foul burning, and a even larger encampment erected nearby, where an Xvart Chieftain and a small army of organized Xvarts had surrounded caravan and a bonfire.

By employing some tactics, the Windspells and compatriots managed to successfully flank the Xvart army and pierce through to a more direct route to where the Chieftain had been scouted out.

The situation, the attack, became dire, and the Windspells were forced to employ greater tiers of magic, even with risk involved. It seemed to by the luck of the Winds of Fate again, that held the chaos of the Weave together, in this time of need. The Chieftain fell from said onslaught of might, magic, arrows and distraction given in full force by the adventures.

With the battle one, the Windspells learned that merchant caravan had been attacked and slaughtered, though no insignia nor origin could be determined.

It is rumored that eventually the Windspells made camp in the hills south of Beregost, resting alongside the open Coast Way road, before it would be time to move further east among the dry lands of the Wyvern....
