Maybe I'll make a new character after I retire. Just point me at where we need RP. I've always had pretty good luck generating RP and player plot
I don't play anymore, but last I checked...
Most of the attention is in Bauldur's Gate, a few other region around. Some diversity to those who remain would be nice for them I'm sure. You'll notice that most of the traffic is in the FAI/CK/BG regions. With a few here and there over here or there. Most days at least.

If you do still have the file from 2016, I'm sure we'd love to share it with the current devs!
Bummer. I searched my computer high and low and don't seem to have it anymore. If by slim chance any of the devs have it that I showed it to (the files), I'd be willing to come out of retirement and finish it off. I've got some free time the coming weeks...
I think Lisa reviewed it. I'll ask her if she still has the file. This was like three years ago though, so nobody get your hopes too high!
Maybe I'll make a new character after I retire. Just point me at where we need RP. I've always had pretty good luck generating RP and player plot. ... I was definitely always a better player than a DM when it came to generating story.
All my DM events seemed to end with players setting everything on fire ...
Soulcatcher asked me the other day and I looked but I couldn't find it... Actually... let me check one more hard drive.

Haha, did you really?! Guess I'll have to put my money where my mouth is huh?
PM me if you have a link to the files, or if someone wants to put me back on the dev team temporarily. I'll need to go reinstall it I guess... bet I've forgot how to use the toolset.

Good work. We can take a look at it then. It'll be up to the new admins whether they want to implement it or not, of course. And maybe we can run it through the players at large, too, since it is an important city to our server, and I'm sure our players would like some buy-in on any dramatic changes to it.

Totally cool. No obligation for you guys to use it, but great idea about sharing the concept openly to garner the best amount of positive feedback.
Has it ever been considered perhaps a culling of areas a bit? There are A LOT of areas, and not all of them see a lot of playtime. Or even a reorganization of area around the gate that might encourage more players to run into each other.

I've went myself from quite active to not finding myself energized to log on anymore, couple of reasons I have for it.
The main one is that my PC got involved into multiple plots which eventually ended up in the DM team having to make a decision, after 1.5 month of waiting I just gave up and left.
1: My experience with BGTSCC is that the DM team are doing a great job with events in general, since my stay here they are most helpful. Often they add little touches here and there through small events to keep things interesting. My interactions with the DM team have always been pleasant and usually things get resolved.
The only issue I have with how BGTSCC is ran is that once players setup plots which ultimately lead into the DM team having to make a decision , they tend to take too much time for simple decision (1 to 2 months).
I've ran myself twice into this problem with both times resulting into my characters being stuck in limbo, from what I've gathered this happens quite often.
A simple decision may take up to 1 to 2 months and by that time the whole RP story is gone and every one moved on.
2: The lack of freedom when it comes to building on the server and the absence of tools to try out builds.
DM encounters nor mob encounters are tailored around poorly optimized builds , thus you need to plan ahead carefully when you build.
The issue with it is that the server doesn't provide you with tools to do so and personally I find this frustrating.
I would enjoy more classes in general at this point like kaedrin's pack.
3: The 20/3 build is a policy that has bothered me for a long time as the concept behind it is simply flawed.
It breaks down so many fun/rp builds while it does very little against powerbuilding.
There are better ways to address the problem though if I'm perfectly honest, if you allow something like dragon druids I think the word balance can be ignored.
4: Back in the days guilds used to be quite present and everyone knew who they were, at this point I find most of them sitting behind locked doors doing their own type of RP. I can't argue with what people enjoy but it does feel a lot more empty.
These would be my four reasons for pretty much not logging on anymore.
Calen Drazkel - Back to the Shadows
Kethelis Thoatril - Weathering. Guarding Books
Idris - When life gives you rubble...
Something that would potentially get me interested enough to start a new character, would be a universal server wipe. The reason being, everyone would be starting new characters at the same time and there would be lots of renewed roleplay as a result. Players would also have a good chance to make friends or enemies, as the playerbase would be more localized. This isn't always easy to do, when the small server population is spread so thinly and so widely with level ranges.
The idea is a server wipe has its merits, but for many who cannot invest much RL time into the game, that would remove possibly years worth of "value," and probably more Players would leave than try to build something again.
However, would COULD work is a second hosting, a BGTSCC 2, that was an alternate universe to BGTSCC 1, and was started fresh. It could also have limits, or changes, that can't be adequately implemented in the existing Server.
Of course, this would cost more money to do AND get support for dual updates, which might itself be so labor intensive no one would volunteer for that.
Alternatively just make new characters in a group.
Better yet a DM sponsored new character fortnight. Level capped events etc. It wouldn't happen often maybe a couple times a year but it would keep everyone together. I don't see any need to trash the previous server history.
This keeps oldies in and everyone make a fresh people who want an active roleplay week where people are on roughly even level.
